"Sure, Algie! Give me... 30 minutes to get ready and we'll be good to go!"
As Anna dashed off to get ready, Algernon found himself meandering towards the television set to set down the DVD when he heard a strange noise coming from the hotel door. He frowned suspiciously at it momentarily, then decided to go and investigate when he heard a loud click. Warily, he touched the knob, and began twisting it. But when he tried to pull the door open, it stayed shut. He tugged on it a few more times, but nothing changed.
Fifteen minutes passed, and Algie could have sworn he'd tried everything, except breaking the door down. He frowned a little; Elsa and Anna definitely wouldn't like it if he broke down the door, but he didn't really see any other choice at this point. Heading to the back of the room, Algernon breathed in deeply, then ran at the door at full speed. With a loud 'Oomph,', his slim frame bounced off the door like a rubber ball on the pavement, and Algie lay stunned on the floor while the door remained unfazed by his recent attempts to open it. Hoping that Anna hadn't heard that, Algie shuffled himself over to the telephone and painfully groaned as he pulled out a slip of paper from his pocket. Dialing the numbers on the card, he waited as the line rang, and soon Lyle's cheery voice sounded through the speakers.
"Hey, Algernon, what's up? Everything ready for Anna's b-day tonight?"
"Funny you should mention that, kid," Algernon said with a fake laugh, in case Anna could hear. He then began whispering hoarsely into the receiver. "I'm supposed to keep Anna busy this morning with a movie, but someone locked her hotel door with the both of us inside!"
"Oh, dude, don't worry about it! That was just one of my backup plans, just in case. Anyway, I gotta get back to running the tea cups, so I'll talk to you later, alright? Toodles!"
"But- No, Lyle, wait!" But, Lyle had already hung up. Putting the phone back with a slight groan of pain, Algernon sighed. What was he going to do now?
"Have you seen the other movies before it yet? It might be a bit confusing at times, but they explain stuff, and I can fill in any gaps."
Trying not to look shocked at Anna's sudden entrance, Algie looked over and bumbling said with what he hoped was a smile, "Uh, well, no, but I'm sure I'll manage!"
