Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description: Milo's hair is blonde and floppy, much like the rest of him. The bangs fall over the fronts of his eyes, but he still generally takes care of it.
Facial description/mood/expressions: In a word, enthusiastic. Milo's face is thin, accentuated by an enormous pair of glasses, but he's an incredibly expressive and energetic personality. Any emotion that he goes through (happiness, anger, surprise) is reflected tenfold on his face.
Clothing style: In academic settings, Milo dresses the part to a tee (tie, starched shirt, the works), but is far more likely to be casually dressed in other settings. Usually he goes for a bulky, tan sweater if it's cold, and a brown T-shirt and jeans for all other types of weather.
Body build: "Skinny as a rail" would be generous. Milo is thin in all respects, though not in a sickly way. His muscles are reasonably toned, especially if he's been working for a while. His hands are wide, and he tends to gesture wildly with them when explaining something or making a point.

Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
Milo is many things. He's what many would call a geek, a nerd, and he would not exactly deny this. He is a great enthusiast of literature, linguistics and history, and can recite obscure facts or trivia at little to no prompting. Milo can get tunnel vision about these sorts of things, getting distracted by a good book or particularly fascinating history or language tidbits. However, he is also a deeply passionate soul, with a strong moral center inherited from his grandfather. As such, he will not hesitate to put his own life at risk in pursuit of what he feels is the right course of action. Milo can be shy, but opens up once he gets to know people better, especially if they share common interests.
History:
Born in Washington, D.C., Milo James Thatch lost his mother and father at a very young age, and was left in the care of his grandfather, Thaddeus Thatch. The old man raised him well, taking him to various lectures he made around the area, some in nearby states, and even one or two international trips (Milo very much enjoyed Italy at 10 years old). Eventually, though, they parted ways as Milo went to college and began living on his own, getting a job in the boiler room at the Smithsonian Institution, doing his research on the magical place his grandfather had told him about: the lost empire of Atlantis.
Unfortunately, it seemed like his efforts were generally in vain. His boss, Fenton Q. Harcourt, frequently discouraged such research, especially since it had ruined his grandfather's financial and social standing. Finally, things came to a head in 1914. After working on a presentation for months, having Harcourt's word that he would be able to present his findings to the board for a proposed expedition, only to have the start time change at the last minute. As a result, Milo was unable to make his presentation. Confronting Harcourt over this, he threatened to quit, only to be told that he needed to stop believing in fairy tales.
Returning to his apartment, Milo found a strange, mysterious woman, one Helga Sinclair by name. She said that her employer had a proposal for him, asking if he was interested. Not seeing much point in refusing the offer, Milo went with her to the mansion of Preston Whitmore, an eccentric millionaire who introduced himself as an old friend of Thaddeus', and produced a copy of the Shepherd's Journal, a book Milo believed to be the key to finding Atlantis. When Whitmore expressed doubts as to whether it was authentic, Milo eagerly rebutted the claim, saying that he was willing to stake everything he had, even just to rent a rowboat to try and find it. This, it turned out, was exactly what Whitmore wanted to hear: "But forget the rowboat, son. We'll travel in STYLE." He then told Milo about the voyage he already had planned, with a crew, the submarine Nautilus, and all they needed now was Milo. He of course agreed.
Once on board, Milo met the crew, including Commander Rourke (Ms. Sinclair was his lieutenant, it turned out), demolitions expert Vincenzo "Vinny" Santorini, geologist Gaetan Moliere, mechanic Audrey Ramirez, and physician Dr. Joshua Sweet. The journey was long and arduous, especially since one of their first encounters was with the biomechanical "Leviathan", who guarded Atlantis from intruders. Eventually, the crew and Milo warmed up to each other as they made the trek, learning about each other, although Milo was perplexed by the absence of what seemed to be a crucial page from the journal. One night, things took a turn for the worse, as Milo accidentally set the campsite on fire through attracting some nearby LITERAL fireflies, and the crew dropped down into a large hole as a result. Separated from the others, Milo was found by a group of what appeared to be strange, masked warriors. One of them noticed his wounds, and healed them with its crystal, in the process revealing themselves to be a beautiful, dark-skinned woman. They fled as the rest of the crew approached, prompting Milo to chase after them and come to the discovery he had been waiting for his entire life: Atlantis. The woman warrior welcomed them and took them to the king.
He was considerably less pleased to see them, telling the crew to leave at once. Rourke managed to convince him to give them a night to stay to rest and replenish their supplies, although afterwards Milo was elected to try and get some answers from the woman. She had some questions of her own to ask him, however, introducing herself as Princess Kidakagash, "Kida" for short. She took him to a crashed Atlantean craft, asking him if he could read the language. Saying that he could, he helped her translate what she had been unable to, and they managed to briefly reactivate the craft with her crystal. They formed a bond, with her taking him around the city, and he telling her about himself as well as the crew. Eventually, they swam beneath a pool of water that Kida had found earlier, examining some carvings below that she had been unable to fully translate. Through his translation, Milo and Kida discovered that the "Heart of Atlantis", the crystal that served as their power source, was also their LIFE force. Returning to the surface, they discovered Rourke and many armed soldiers, including many of the crew, waiting for them.
It turned out that Rourke had the missing page, and had been after the crystal since the discovery of the journal in Iceland. He attempted to convince Milo to throw his lot in with them; he flatly refused. Undeterred, Rourke attempted to get the location of the crystal from the king, punching him in the gut when the king warned "You will destroy yourselves." Sitting on the throne, he managed to see the location by remembering the words "the heart of Atlantis lies in the eyes of our king." Milo and Kida reluctantly went with him into a chamber below the water, where the crystal lay, floating in mid-air. Kida, in some kind of trance, bonded with the crystal, taking on a crystalline form. Rourke and company boxed her up, with Milo telling the crew that now all the money they wanted was within their grasp-they would just have to kill all the Atlanteans to get it. Rourke and Helga were unmoved, but Audrey, Vinny, Mole, Sweet, Cookie and even Mrs. Packard decided to support Milo, realizing he was right. As the king lay dying, he explained how Atlantis had sunk in the first place (he had tried to use the crystal as a weapon of war), that the crystal had bonded with others of royal blood before (such as the king's wife and Kida's mother), and implored him to save his daughter and Atlantis. After some brief agonizing over how his own actions had led to the current state of affairs, and with some encouragement from Sweet, Milo formed a plan to go after Rourke and save Kida. Using some buried Atlantean ships and craft, he, the crew and many warriors flew to the volcanic cavern where Rourke was planning to make his escape.
A furious battle ensued, with Milo taking on Rourke himself, managing only to survive thanks to a last-minute assist from a betrayed Helga, as well as Rourke turning into a crystal monster after being cut by Milo with a crystal-infused glass shard. The volcano began to erupt behind them thanks to Rourke's air balloon exploding, and they managed to get back to the city just in time for the crystal/Kida to reactivate its defenses. Kida returned to Milo and the others, bringing back a childhood bracelet from her departed mother. The crew was given a "small" reward for their help in saving the city, but Milo decided to stay in Atlantis with Kida, feeling it was where he truly belonged.
Ambitions:
To understand as much about Atlantis and other strange worlds as he possibly can, and advise Kida to the best of his ability.
Strengths & abilities:
What he lacks in physical strength, Milo makes up for in intellect. He can strategize, managing to think of ways to get out of tricky situations rather than using brute force. His knowledge is extremely vast, and has more than once been able to get things done by remembering some obscure fact or piece of trivia. He can speak, write and read many different languages, particularly French, German, Spanish and Latin. He is also marginally good with mechanics, having worked in a boiler room for some time, although Milo would be the first to tell you to get a real mechanic to double-check any work he's done.
Flaws:
Milo tends to trust people a little too easily, especially once he's opened up to them. As a result, if people betray him, he takes it VERY personally and can lose his temper as a result. He can be easily distracted by details, missing the bigger picture about the discoveries he's made, although usually Kida is able to get him to focus.
Likes:
Kida, his old Nautilus shipmates, Atlantis, history, literature, linguistics.
Dislikes:
Rourke, people who are greedy in general, injustice.
Fears:
Losing Kida and Atlantis to destruction or discovery by the surface.

RP SAMPLE:
Milo groaned and held his head. "Where am I?" As his head cleared and vision became unblurred, shapes, colors and sounds began to become more apparent. He found himself in some kind of...town square. There were shops and restaurants, and even what looked like some kind of theater. Milo stood up and began examining things closely. The buildings looked almost larger than life, bigger and more colorful than any similar shops he had seen. He looked in the distance and his eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.
An enormous blue-and-white castle stood in the distance, surrounded by people as well as a bronze statue of what looked like an older gentlemen holding hands with some kind of cartoon...mouse? Maybe. He wasn't quite sure at this distance. As he walked around further, Milo was awestruck. This place was some kind of amusement park (Grandfather had taken him to Coney Island several times when they had been in New York), but far more elaborate and technologically advanced than anything he had ever seen. Of course, in terms of pure tech, it still probably lagged behind Atlantis', but the engineering and design on display was fascinating and ingenious to behold. "Jiminy Christmas, look at this place! I-i-i-i mean it's incredible, just fascinating, look at it, Kida-Kida?"
He glanced around wildly. His queen (he felt more comfortable thinking about her in that way nowadays than he did before) was nowhere to be found. Panic almost took over, but Milo calmed himself. "She's probably around here somewhere, must've been caught in whatever brought me here too." He spotted a nearby couple and walked over to them.
"Excuse, ha-have you seen a woman around here? What am I saying, of course you have. Uh, what I mean is, she's about as tall as me, dark skin, white hair, it's ah, kinda hard to miss her. You see anyone like that?" When the couple said no, they hadn't, Milo sighed and thanked them anyway.
"Guess I'd better start looking," he said to himself. Milo then cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled, "Kida! Hey, Kida, where are you? You gotta see this place, it's amazing!"
