{I finally got to this, sorry, I sort of forgot about it myself Earlier that year of the movie work? Before Dia de los Muertos}
Rosa was used to it by now, having to always go get Miguel, or look after her cousin. It should have been something that was given to Abel more so than her, he was the first grandchild and oldest of all of them, but then being only two years older than Miguel meant that Rosa was more convenient. She could wait for him after school to tell him something or hurry him up if he was late. She was often close enough to what he was doing or his friend's ages also to know first if something was amiss.
For all this, Rosa didn't know everything obviously. There was still the one giant secret Miguel had somehow managed to keep from everyone. Oh sure, Rosa noticed when her cousin was acting strangely, but she hadn't put any two pieces of the puzzle together yet. A bit shameful for her, she was usually more observant than that.
This day Miguel was going to have to work a bit to keep his secret though, unbeknownst to both children at the time. It was the most normal thing in the world, as trouble often was. Abuelita was convinced his foot had grown from the last time she'd measured it and wanted to double-check before she made a new pair of boots.
Rosa, go get your primo.
She only had one currently. The girl hadn't even let her sigh be heard, just nodded and darted off...only Miguel was proving hard to find, and the more Rosa looked the more she became an odd mix of annoyed and confused. If he was in the market and she had to look all over town for him...
"Miguel? Miguel! Where are you?", Rosa was pretty sure her cousin was not under the table in the courtyard, but she peeked anyway before straightening and continuing on. "Miguel!"
