Papa Héctor and Mama Imelda both expressed their regret that she hadn't been able to go camping. Of course that would be lifted now too, if she wanted to try, and she'd even had thoughts of trying to incorporate and show her violin playing as well some time maybe at a camp-out; but she'd been so busy getting the violin down, it hadn't come up yet.
Rosa couldn't say she probably knew enough, but she recalled enough to know the harsh times Papa Héctor mentioned. "Oh...yeah...right" was all she commented on it. Just unsure what to bring up or not. She then brightened more as Papa Héctor said maybe she could show them!
"Yeah! That'd be great! I didn't learn many of the songs, obviously, but I could look them up". Even if Rosa herself didn't have a smart phone, the hotel had computers and she knew how to use them.
Papa Héctor explained more about his playing every instrument to come to him; he sounded like Miguel if Miguel could have gotten away with it! Rosa was noticing Papa Héctor's humility as well; not that she'd thought he wouldn't be, but reading someone off a picture and half-known story was of course difficult, and given they had gotten it wrong before they got it right even!
The letters, and Mama Coco's stories, showed a humility of their own, but speaking with him also. "Wow...you're like actually amazing", Rosa gave a millennial, and just her brand, casual compliment with an astonished smile, but it was meant as such and a very good seal of approval.
She laughed as he explained Alebrijes. Not the statues, but the spirit guides, apparently, and glanced to Pepita also as Papa Héctor told Mama Imelda at least he hadn't stepped on Pepita's tail. She couldn't see it herself, but was sure he was right and Pepita was bigger than a normal cat, if not being able to visualize how big.
She would take any and all embarrassing facts on family members! or her cousin and brothers at least! She wouldn't mess with adorable baby Socorro...yet. Rosa laughed as Papa Héctor said Miguel's first grito had been pretty bad! Or implied it!
Rosa smiled, and glanced over to Mama Imelda, that was right, she sang. She'd found that out by now, but not heard her. Anyway the patriarchal musician of the family saying that just meant so much!
Rosa smiled, as Papa Héctor cupped her cheek again. "Oh yeah, well, making a name out of it's more Miguel's things anyway, and even then I know he'll keep it humble", she reassured. Though she probably didn't have to. Papa Héctor also knew.
Rosa blinked, "But we do! I...I have my violin, it came...with me, and Miguel has your guitar", she explained.
As Papa Héctor asked if they had anything about that played music, Rosa nodded, "Oh yeah, there's TV's in every room and you can find a music channel, and...there might be a radio somewhere".
"Imelda and I, we've never gone to any official camping..it was dangerous to be out in the streets after certain times, you know?"

"Ah, you see? Yes! You figured it out because you got talent inside you to be a great musician like Miguel! After all, you got it from both of us, mija.."
Rosa smiled, and glanced over to Mama Imelda, that was right, she sang. She'd found that out by now, but not heard her. Anyway the patriarchal musician of the family saying that just meant so much!
"As long as you don’t play just to be heard..Because a real musician plays to bring people together. You keep yourself open to putting your heart into the music, and surround yourself with family and people who care for you, mija.. then you got what it takes to go far with your violin,"
Rosa smiled, as Papa Héctor cupped her cheek again. "Oh yeah, well, making a name out of it's more Miguel's things anyway, and even then I know he'll keep it humble", she reassured. Though she probably didn't have to. Papa Héctor also knew.
"Ah..If only we had the instruments here to listen to you play some time, eh?"
