Character basics
Character name: Ursula
Age: 68
Species: Cecaelian
Birthplace: Atlantica
Movie: The Little Mermaid

Who's the fairest of them all?
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description: Ursula's natural hair is kept short. It lost its dark color in her youth, and is now white with a few grey steaks. Most of her hair is styled to stick up, with only a little left hanging on her neck.
As a human, her hair is dark brown and hangs down to her waist.
Facial description/mood/expressions: Ursula is particular about her makeup, reapplying to her eyes and lips whenever necessary.
Her face is wider than the average mermaid, but it fits well with her body. Her chin and jawline dominate her face, while her nose seems to be squished between her heavy-lidded eyes. Her ears are small, almost hiding on the sides of her head, in line with her prominent cheekbones. She has a small mole on the right side of her face, near her thin lips.
When she disguises herself as a human, her face is again proportionate to her body, only this time she is about average size. The mole is missing, her lips are fuller, and she can easily pass for a human.
Clothing style: As a Cecaelian, Ursula doesn't have a style. She consistently wears a black bustier that is unnoticeable against her black tentacles. When she is in her human form, she prefers the more elaborate gowns as opposed to plain ones.
Body build: Ursula, in her natural form, is not skinny by any measure. She has a thick waist, which helps to accommodate for her six long tentacles -- instead of two legs. Most curiously, her skin is light purple in color.
As Vanessa, she is thinner than most humans, in an attempt to appeal to human men.
She is curvaceous in either form.
Any unique traits (optional): Similar to an octopus, her tentacles function as feet on land, and can also be used to hold things as hands. The tentacles can also be used to propel her forward to swim, and she can squirt ink to help her make an escape.
Curiouser and curiouser about..
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality: Ursula holds grudges, rarely forgiving and never forgetting when someone does her wrong. She is patient, though, and will take years to set up a plan of revenge. She has confidence, as well. She has high standards, and won’t hesitate to call people out on being rude. Classy and flamboyant, Ursula is comfortable in her body.
History:Ursula was born on the outskirts of Atlantica to a Cecaelian woman and a merman. When she was five, her parents had another child, Morgana. But Ursula outshined her younger sister in numerous ways, a fact that Ursula took great pride in lording over Morgana.
As a teenager, she was invited to the palace as part of a magic program in her schooling. The king at the time was impressed with Ursula’s budding magic skills, and he invited her to stay in the palace as a magic advisor.
Ursula spent a lot of time with the prince, Triton, eventually falling for him. But when Triton became king, he chose a mermaid to be his queen, spurning Ursula. It wasn’t enough for the Cecaelian to leave Atlantica, though. She still had goals beyond queen-ship.
After Queen Athena was killed by humans, Triton cracked down on mermaid-human interactions. The Cecaelian decided then and there to go learn more about the humans. She spent the next few years on land, as Vanessa, and learned everything she could. Occasionally she returned to the sea, but she was careful to avoid suspicion.
She did, while living on land, gain a reputation among the common folk—especially sailors—of telling stories about merfolk. These tales would survive past her return to the water.
Ursula returned to Atlantica, her absence long-since noticed, and she announced to the people that not only were humans not terrible, but many of them were interested in mer-life. She added that she had figured out a spell to allow humans to visit Atlantica, and that a group would be arriving the following day.
Triton, furious, denied Ursula’s plans, going so far as to banish her from Atlantica due to mistrust; he knew Ursula could be stubborn, and he fully expected (rightfully so) that she would have gone behind his back and brought the humans anyway.
This angered Ursula further, but she complied. She knew that she couldn’t withstand Triton’s abilities, not while he held the trident. She retreated to her laboratory, determined to succeed over Triton someday, somehow.
Her opportunity came when, while spying on Triton’s youngest, Ursula learned that Ariel was in love with a human. A little spell here, a little contract there, and manipulation everywhere, and Ariel had signed a contract with Ursula. Ariel’s voice for a pair of human legs, for three days.
Ursula remembered well from her time spent around humans that no human—especially a prince—would fall in love with a girl enough for true love’s kiss in just three days. Nevertheless, Ursula sent Flotsam and Jetsam to keep an eye on the situation. To her dismay, Ursula found that the prince was indeed falling for Ariel by the second day.
Taking matters into her own hands, Ursula used Ariel’s voice—stored in the nautilus necklace—to hypnotize and trick the prince into believing it was she who had saved him. The spell worked, and Eric announced that their wedding would take place mere hours later.
The wedding was enough of a success that Eric didn’t kiss Ariel before the sun set. Pleased with the course of events, Ursula revealed her true form, snatched up the mermaid, and returned to the sea. Things progressed further in Ursula’s favor, as Triton arrived and offered to trade himself for Ariel. Ursula accepted eagerly, taking the crown and the trident in hand.
A battle in the sea, with lightning coursing through the sky, and Ursula blasting bolts of magic at Eric and Ariel, ultimately resulted in the Cecaelian’s death as the bow of a ship pierced her midsection.
Ambitions: return to a life of comfort, gain control of the seas,
Strengths & abilities: Ursula is intuitive with creating potions, able to make them without needing directions,
Flaws: power-hungry, vengeful, hot-tempered,
Likes: her pets Flotsam and Jetsam, power, manipulating others (especially at her own gain),
Dislikes: mer-folk, being hungry, losing, failing,
Fears: would never admit to fearing anything or anyone, but she does worry that Triton will thwart her, and that she won’t succeed at her plans
