Although the Mexican songwriter was slowly becoming immortalized in the land of the dead because of his famous songs, being in the land of the living again was a different story altogether. It was no longer about borrowing or exchanging things like it was in the land of the dead. Money was now involved. If he wanted to help Imelda pay for the finances, especially taking care of Miguel and Rosa, then Héctor was willing to do his part. It was kind of like his way of being a father again for the second time, except he was not able to rely on his music like most people think. Miguel had his guitar, and he was not about to take that from his great great grandson, who was an aspiring musician. Miguel needed to keep performing!
Actually, the scheming Héctor came up with a brilliant plan: He was going to take advantage of his great great grandson's performances by painting Miguel's face with facepaint in order to help promote his facepainting talent and get new clients! It was the perfect plan! With Miguel's performances, he was going to get clients to his facepainting stand in no time! With $10 a face, a competitive price compared to how expensive the other facepainting stands were at $20 in the rest of the other parks, he was bound to get more clients this way! Imelda would be so proud of him! "A ver.. a ver (Let's see)... bien...a ver.. turn right, turn right...un poquito mas a la derecha (turn a little more to the right), mijo.." The artistic great great grandfather concentrated on painting Miguel's face to make sure that he captured all the details that he wanted, wanting to make sure it looked good from all the angles. Although he was able to facepaint Miguel's face very well with just his fingers and using only two colors with shoe shine polish no less, the fact that he was now using more facepainting colors and a smaller brush for details gave him a wider range to work with! "..Up, up..okay..mira me (look at me)...annnnd...tada!" Just as he finished the final touch with his paint, he grabbed the mirror and brought it up to his face with a triumphant grin, "Hey! Quedaste bien chido! (You look so cool!) Better than before, eh?!" Truthfully, Héctor was pretty proud of this one! Who knew that he would be doing this again, and to his great great grandson again no less!
"Oye, oye..You remember the plan?!" Héctor asked his great great grandson, placing his hands on Miguel's shoulders in a fatherly way with a hopeful grin. He always liked to make sure that they were on the same page when it came to plans. As soon as he made sure that Miguel was sure of the plan, the skeletal musician hugged Miguel then, never getting tired of hugging his great great grandson for all that he had done and all that they had gone through. "Arré papa! Go and perform! Grab their attention and don't let it go!" He whistled encouragingly for the young musician to get to his performance with a clasp of his hands. Soon, he was bound to get a ton of clients with the way that Miguel's face would be painted during his performance!
"Hey! Who is next to get their face painted?!" Héctor grinned enthusiastically, looking to see who the next customer would be.
