"You look stunning."
The super-powered mother with the sugar skull face paint visibly melted at her husband's words as soon as he met up with her. "Thanks, honey.." Helen Parr replied gently back to him with a smirk, catching that wink in his eyes as she was used to gazing up into those blue eyes of his behind a mask. It suddenly felt like that masquerade dance that they both went to all those years ago. Her voice was full of gratitude to hear him say this though. She didn't want to say it out loud, but she was kind of feeling a little self-conscious, especially if she wondered if the dress made her wide hips look wider? Well, she was glad she looked stunning at a least. Maybe Imelda's on to something about wearing dresses, and she should wear dresses more often. She hadn't felt particularly stunning in a while. She loved his romantic words and gestures whenever he did show them though, especially ever since he's gotten more involved with the family. If there was one good thing that came about that whole thing with Syndrome, even she had to admit it was that: Bob and the family being closer than ever. "Have ya seen Vi?" She gestured her husband over to Violet next to her, who was invisible except for the glow-in-the-dark paint that looked like a skeleton over her super suit, making her look like a real skeleton!
"I hope I didn't overdress. I thought everyone would be going all out for this."
The auburn haired mother couldn't help but chuckle to herself upon hearing Bob also just slightly self-conscious, too! Well, that was reassuring to her after having her own self-consciousness about her dress earlier. She decided to help reassure him that he was fine. "Aw you look fine, honey.." A playful smile formed on her lips when she said that, meaning that not just in the costume either, "I think I saw someone just pass by dressed as a tiger in a business suit! Or at least, I think it's a tiger suit.. it's hard to tell after seeing animals wearin' clothing sometimes, ya know what I mean?..But there's someone over there that looks like catwoman, I think..or batwoman? I dunno, I can't tell from this angle. Besides, I'm still getting used to seein' all these supers again.." The flexible super in disguise smirked with a shrug. After supers being illegal, she didn't pay attention to supers that much; she tried to embrace normalcy as best as she could. Now that it was legal here, she was starting to recover all of that missed information. She knew Bob was more informative of the new supers though, and she smiled up at him knowingly. Helen didn't even mind that her husband was dressed differently. As far as she was concerned, he could dress however he wants! While most young couples would be bothered with the fact that they absolutely had to dress the same, that tends to not matter anymore after being married for 15 years.
"I barely know anyone here."
A smile tugged up on one side of Helen's face-painted lips upon hearing her husband mutter these words by her ear. Sometimes, her husband can be so adorable in his own child-like way. Well, she wanted him to start with one of her closest friends here aside from Elsa. "Come on," She coiled an arm around her husband's arm as she pushed the stroller over to her so that he could meet her. Unfortunately, she had gotten so caught up with what Imelda said that she didn't get a chance to introduce him yet. That was something she was used to in the south, though; chewin' the fat before getting to the point. Helen kind of embraced the city culture by getting to the point with things, but she was respectful enough to wait for her chance to speak.
”Wow, I hope if I say you both almost look like one of us in the Land of the Dead, you’ll know it’s a compliment; Héctor's work?”,
"Aw, thanks! Yeah, I went to the Mexico Pavilion and had him face paint me just to match with Jack-Jack's costume. It looked like he had a long line of people today! He looked happy doin' it though." She reported to her with a smile, always finding Héctor with so much bright energy! She then glanced around curiously to see where Imelda's husband could be, but figured he might still be working or be somewhere else in the party.
”It goes. I was just inspecting the banners, and reminding myself I’m helping only and not the hostess”. Both mothers no doubt understood that and how helping could take over.
Once again, Imelda was so relatable! This was the first friend that was a mom that she could relate to so much! "Yeah, I tend to always end up helping out at parties in some way or another, even if it's not my own.." She chuckled softly with a smirk as she recalled all those parties that she was in. It was mostly straightening things up if they seemed crooked, cleaning after messes, especially if it ended up with possible power showing from her kids. Was it her inner superhero self wanting to help people, or was it her just being a mom and always trying to look out for everyone? She wasn't sure. "Oh, right.. this is Imelda, honey..the one I've been telling ya about?" She turned to her husband to introduce him to Imelda, the one she talked about to him about finally meeting this mom that she could relate to in so many ways, especially in the importance of family; she was the one that helped Dash reunite with them! "Imelda, this is my..maridos? Sorry, h-how do ya say husband again?" She smiled shyly, hoping she didn't botch that up too badly. "He's been working a lot since we've moved, so you unfortunately haven't had a chance to meet yet!" It was mostly because Fort Wilderness Cabins were expensive! She wasn't about to tell that out loud though, especially not in front of her children. That was something that she told Imelda privately. "Imelda's been teachin' me some Spanish, honey. She and her family are from Mexico." Helen explained to her husband with a warm smile, happy to have all the Parrs and the Rivera family meet.
”Aww and even this niño precioso. May I?"
"Aw of course!" Helen smiled with a nod when Imelda asked to hold their one year old baby dressed in a skeleton costume. The sleepy-eyed Jack-Jack took it in stride with a pleasant coo at being held, used to being held by Imelda before during the day that Helen needed Imelda and Hector to take care of him while she was helping Vi with her powers as part of a mother/daughter bonding moment. For Helen, it looked so adorable for a skeleton to be holding a baby dressed as a skeleton. She briefly wondered to herself how long it had been for Imelda to have held a child before meeting Jack-Jack. It was nice that she got a chance anyways. At this point, Helen fully trusted Imelda, with taking care of her baby and with the secret of their powers.
"I take it Dash ran off somewhere amidst the festivities? Miguel and Rosa did the same, I believe...and Héctor"
"Yeah, he's off meeting new people.. and hopefully stayin' away from eating too many snacks.." The auburn haired mother couldn't help but glance over at Violet to see if she's been focused on him, and was given a shake of her head that he's been behaving so far. Helen smiled satisfactorily. "Aw, maybe he'll come around later," She said about Imelda's husband, hoping for Bob to meet Héctor at some point at the party today.
