Rosabella had been in Shanghai Disneyland enjoying a quiet evening in the castle when a mysterious portal opened. She was hesitant at first to enter the portal but curiosity got the better of her. Once she was on the other side, she was greeted by the sight of a massive tree with all matter of creatures carved onto it's trunk. Then to her surprise, the tree came to life as some of the animals freed themselves from the majestic trunk of the tree. They seemed to be dancing around before returning to their place.
Rosabella was mesmerized by the majesty of the tree then noticed that the river was lit up as well. She looked up to see humans perfoming on boats as they sailed by. "What manner of magic is this? Has the goddess Iris decided to bless me with this beautiful display of majesty?," she pondered to herself.
Jake enjoyed time like this. The sun was setting, the lights were turning on, and the park was getting into night hours. It created a peaceful setting as the stars were coming out, and the Tree of Life, which was usually inactive during the day, now was teeming with life as animals moved in every manner. The night time show, River of Lights, was also playing, as music could be heard from the speakers as the performers danced around for the guests. Those closest at the theater probably had the best seats, but for Jake? He enjoyed everything from where he was.
The kangaroo mouse laid on a branch in a nearby tree, which gave him an unobstructed view of everything. That was one of the perks of being a mouse; you can literally set up anywhere, and no one would bat an eye. Normally, he'd be at his home in Magic Kingdom. But he enjoyed the serenity of Animal Kingdom, and all that it offered. Also, unlike the other parks, Animal Kingdom was more active at night due to the animals being up. And not a single ride was closed, which meant guests could enjoy their favorite rides in a different light.
Suddenly, he heard something from below. The kangaroo mouse tilted his head to the ground to get a better look, and when he did, he saw a portal suddenly open up, and a female centaur jump out of it. Jake arched a brow. The portal looked like the one that Varian and Reuben was experimenting on a while back. Which meant that it went to another theme park. Or, it would of, before it closed up after depositing the lady with hooves. She seemed enthralled by the night time scenes, and Jake barely caught her saying something a goddess blessing her with this display.
Jake, of course, smiled and hopped down to a lower branch. Once he was within talking distance of the centaur, he spoke. "I don't know about any goddesses, but it is a wonderful sight," He agreed, "A night time show featuring water, lights, and everything in between. And let us not forget the center piece, the Tree of Life." Once he finished, he chuckled, took his hat off, and bowed, "Names Jake. Pleased to meet you. I guess you came from one of the Disneyland parks?"
Rosabella turned to the sound of someone speaking to her. She looked around a bit before she noticed a mouse on a tree branch except she'd never seen a mouse like him. She smiled and curtsey to him as she introduced herself, "My name is Rosabella Orchid Gala. I just arrived from Shanghai Disneyland."
Rosabella looked at the Tree of Life and smiled, "The Tree of Life? So are there animal spirits inside the tree?" She quietly watched the animals dance on the tree with a sad smile. "I wish my mother was here to see this....she would have loved this."
Jake listened as the centaur greeted him. Rosabella Orchid Gala. That was a mouthful, but it wasn't the longest name he heard. And she came from Shanghai Disneyland? He was impressed. He only knew of the portals due to him stumbling upon Reuben and Varian, and even then, he didn't really know where those portals led to. Though from what he heard? There were Disney Parks all over the world, from California, to Paris, and even Japan. It would make sense for Rosabella to be surprised, when she probably already encountered what Shanghai had to offer.
"Pleasure to meet you, Rosabella. I can not say that I've been to Shanghai, but I know two who were trying to figure out how those portals worked. Not my field, mind you," He chuckled, "You could say that it has spirits in it. Every night, that tree comes to live. In the day? All you would see are the carvings, and nothing else. And there is even a place where the bugs tend to go to, and have a show for guests."
He hopped down from the tree, and landed on a railing that was below it. "She probably would. The entire place has a type of magic that I can't describe. And I've been in this park since I arrived," He shrugged, "While I know each of the parks have their own charm, Walt Disney World is perhaps the largest of them all. Animal Kingdom, where you are now, is only one part of the much larger area. And probably has the most activity."
Rosabella listened to every word Jake said. Her eyes began to sparkle when he told her where she was. "Animal Kingdom? As in actually animals? Like exotic animals that I can't see in Greece?," she asked excitedly. It was obvious that she loved animals.
Rosabella was mostly raised my pegasi ever since her mother died. All of her friends were the animals of the pasture. Rosabella didn't have any real friends among her fellow centaurs. "What kind of animals live here? I've heard about a white horse with black stripes and an animal with an extremely long neck. I've always wanted to see one," she said as she imagined the animals in her head.
Jake only smiled as the centaur got excited. Seeing as she was from another world, there was a good chance that she didn't get far from wherever she lived. Seeing as she was eager, Jake chuckled and explained, "Aye! Animals that hail from different parts of the world. Africa and Asia, mainly. For instance, the black and white one, which is called a zebra, is found here in the Africa section. Same goes for the giraffe, the long necked one. There are tigers, gorillas, bats, hippos, rhinos, various birds, and more."
It was a large assortment. Jake only went down the traveled paths, and occasionally hitched a ride on one of the safari vehicles in Africa in order to see animals. It was interesting in how Disney tried to replicate the natural habitats. Though, not all of the animals were alive..or real. With that on mind, he continued, "Of course, there is more than just those animals. In one section, we have guests learn and experience ancient animals that once roamed this world: dinosaurs. Basically, giant reptiles. And in another section, we have the recreation of another planet, which is also home to odd creatures. Though, you wouldn't see them unless you wandered onto the attractions."
Rosabella’s excitement grew as Jake began to explain all the different animals that she had never heard of. A giraffe sounded like a very interesting creature to meet in person. A zebra did explain why those girls that carry the wine for Dionysus looked the way they did. Maybe their ancestors came from this Africa, she would have to ask them when she got home. Well, if she ever got home.
Her attention was drawn when Jake mentioned ancient animals called dinosaurs. She had never heard of dinosaurs. “Dinosaurs? What exactly are dinosaurs and why are they extinct?,” Rosabella asked, curious to learn more about these ancient creatures. She had heard of animals that no longer existed in her world but she had never seen proof of these stories to be true.
Jake couldn't help but smile as he saw the centaur's excitement. Clearly, she never been outside of wherever she came from, and the entire world fascinated her. Though, when it came to dinosaurs, she soon looked curious, and asked what they were. "Well, they were reptiles. Some small, some large. Some walked on two legs, others, on four. Some ate meat, some ate plants, or both," He would explain to her, "But they don't exist anymore. You see, they were around millions of years ago, before you and I came to existence. However, the universe decided to throw a meteor at our planet, wiping out most of them, while the rest died out due to lack of food. Only some exist, but they are not recognizable anymore."
He wasn't a archaeologist, but he knew some bits. Basically, what he knew, was what everyone else knew. Though between his own time, and now, many more discoveries were made. And Jake could see just how diverse that time period was, until the meteor hit. Though he did answer the centaur's question, and Jake had a feeling that he should show her around a bit. After all, it was his role.
