Christmas was an odd holiday for a toy to love. It usually meant getting replaced, or dealing with the heavy emotions of worry over such a thing; going through horrid weeks where it looked like that was the case in the hype of new toys before a child fell back into their familiar routine.
The roller coaster could take it's toll. Jessie felt for those toys who's owners had birthdays near Christmas for the lack of a break they got...and wondered if it wasn't better for those few who's child had a birthday on Christmas! Just one trial of it.
Since coming to the parks, Christmas had gained a perk in the Grand Floridian Gingerbread house, as she had told Rosa River about! They put up others other places too, but this one was spectacular! Jessie, as a toy, was an expert at remaining all but unseen, and keeping to that rule of not letting humans catch her. Rosa had caught her; and Jessie doubted her skeleton family counted either.
She could bend that rule here, and if she still played it all right, she'd found.
So "squatting" in the Gingerbread House typically went well and she'd yet to be caught yet! It was a masterpiece of engineering, and a playground for a toy like her, and she was careful not to break anything. Mostly careful...
This year there had been a small mishap with one of the shingles, and Jessie was secured to the gingerbread chimney, by way of some loose string she'd found around and always saved for lassos, fixing it during a lull in the hours. It wasn't midnight, but most people were not milling through the lobby, though she kept an ear out for such.

Rosa promised she wasn’t actually going to go anywhere outside of the Resort, just down to the lobby to see the Gingerbread house in the dim lighting.
She’d yet to do such though she spotted it go up. That cowgirl doll, Jessie, who had visited since their meeting, had tried to explain it to Rosa, but it took seeing it!
Yeah she could see why the doll was drawn to staying there!
Not that she expected to come across Jessie as she came down the grand staircase, though she shouldn’t be surprised. Rosa paused on the last few steps like a child at Christmas! Probably part of the effect attempted, yet for younger children. The lobby just had it's own magical look in the dim lighting and the gingerbread house added to that, with its lights lite up inside even.
Rosa wondered if Jessie liked that, or if it was annoying, as she came further down the steps, and spotted the cowgirl doll. Hanging from the chimney. She smiled, almost impressed with a fellow adventurous spirit, and skipped the rest of the way down the steps and over towards the gingerbread house and Jessie.
Still clinging to her rope, though it was just a fail-safe-system, Jessie turned at the sound of a voice, one she recognized even as she did such! It was what helped her not have to fight the urge to freeze at a human discovering her. Even after so long in the parks, the instinct was ingrained for a good reason and she still had to watch herself.
Not around Rosa Rivera though!
"Well howdy!", she greeted back, and swung herself a bit so as to land on the roof and be able to better turn and face the girl, gesturing to the gingerbread house as she did. "Well what'd I tell ya! Spiffier than a red-wagon attached to a pinto pony huh?!", she meant the gingerbread house, and didn't over think her comparisons and excitable sayings like always.
She then realized an actual question had been put with that greeting. "Oh, and I'm just fixin' a roof tile that came loose, since I'm gonna be borrowing it and all", she winked.

Jessie turned to her, greeting her in her own exuberant way. Rosa giggled. Especially as the cowgirl doll went on to describe the gingerbread house. Rosa liked how Jessie talked.
"Well what'd I tell ya! Spiffier than a red-wagon attached to a pinto pony huh?!"
"I guess", Rosa laughed again, trying to imagine what Jessie described, then realized that her only being confused over the comparison may not be clear. "I mean, I've never seen a red wagon attached to a pinto, but the house is amazing yes!", she stepped back to glance it over again.
"Oh, and I'm just fixin' a roof tile that came loose, since I'm gonna be borrowing it and all"
Rosa knew that Papa Héctor and Jessie had had a run ins whenever the cowgirl doll would stop by, but even without evidence, her great-great-grandfather probably understood where the doll was coming from on a lot of things! Memories, she'd already realized, but also squatting, with what little she'd heard of Shantytown.
Though she was sure that wasn't exactly the same thing.
"Well they can't be too mad if you do, can they?", Rosa both challenged playfully and answered in agreement.
”I guess...I mean, I've never seen a red wagon attached to a pinto, but the house is amazing yes!"
Jessie laughed. Alright, she admitted her allegory may be a bit out there, as ever. And she meant a painted full wagon, not the kids red wagon...as she realized there may be some confusion over...
”Well they can't be too mad if you do, can they?"
"My point exactly!", Jessie hopped up to the roof, almost sliding off as she did such, and an avalanche of gingerbread tiles following her, but catching herself by the use of her rope, not that the fall would have really injured her, but she would still rather not take the tumble.
"A few of the Cast Members have caught me too, moving about I mean, so I want to make sure they know, if they catch me here, and know some kid didn't just leave me, that I'm not taking advantage!", she explained. Though again, it sounded like Rosa understood.

Jessie almost slipped off the roof, and Rosa reached out, as if to catch her if she did, (though as Jessie had said when they'd met, she could take a few tumbles without injury) but the doll had implemented her own safety system also, even if just to not have to always be climbing back onto the roof after a tumble off, and to steady herself in her work perhaps.
"My point exactly!"
Jessie began, as she stood once more, and a few tiles came sliding off. Rosa bent to pick them up even as she listened.
"A few of the Cast Members have caught me too, moving about I mean, so I want to make sure they know, if they catch me here, and know some kid didn't just leave me, that I'm not taking advantage!"
The cowgirl doll explained her reasoning. Rosa supposed that made sense, and nodded, "Oh, yes, I see...", she handed one of the tiles back, "Well then I'll help you put these back on, now let's see if I recall how they went...", she studied the roof, and lay out of the others as she tried to lay one back where it had gone.
Rosa said that she saw Jessie's reasoning, and helped with putting the tiles back in place. "Thank ya kindly!", Jessie tipped her hat for the assistance given, then bent to investigate the work, not in scrutinizing Rosa's job done, but in helping her with, as she said, how the tiles had went and fully covering her tracks.
"Hmm...I think ya turn that one like this, there we go!", Jessie was able to replace one, trusting to Rosa to help her press it down firmly into the icing utilized. She then recalled she was supposed to be quiet and nervously glanced towards the stairs, but she hadn't been as loud as she feared in her exuberance she just couldn't help at times.
Once they got the tiles placed, Jessie stood back pleased, and got on to the important things. "Well, come on around here and I'll give ya the tour!", leading the way over to where Rosa could at least crane her head in and watch, while Jessie herself swung in through a gingerbread window to land. "Over here they keep the cookies and stuff they sell at times...actually I guess except for that the insides not as grand as the outside". Jessie realized, being in the Grand Floridian, she had perhaps made a funny (about the same kind of funny Héctor would make with his dad jokes) and grinned back at Rosa.

Between the two of them, they soon got the tiles back in order, and Rosa did give a firm press to many of them to help them stick. This was admittedly fun, letting Jessie explain the house, and seeing it up close, though Rosa was still aware she had crossed under a rope that kept kids from climbing on the house, in the middle of the night (near about) and so Cast Member's might not like her and them messing about with the house. Though Jessie wasn't messing, and as a toy probably got more leniency.
Jessie seemed to have a similar worry, and glanced towards the stairs at one point, as she spoke. Rosa followed suit, but they were still fine.
"Well, come on around here and I'll give ya the tour!"
Rosa did such, carefully stepping around and until they reached the part she'd noticed opened in the daytime and which seemed a small stall to actually sell gingerbread and such. She glanced to the rest of it too, which she would not have been allowed this close a look at, or it would have pulled other kids into misbehaving as well, if they had seen her, and as an older kid approaching her Quince with every month she should not do that.
"Over here they keep the cookies and stuff they sell at times...actually I guess except for that the insides not as grand as the outside"
Rosa already might have accused Jessie of it, but the doll went on to acknowledge the joke with a grin of her own. Rosa gave a deadpan look. "No...did you get that directly from my Papa Héctor?", she half asked half accused before laughing and glancing over the house again, "Wow, so there's not actually that many rooms to sleep in?", she asked and noticed. And not to put it down, she was just figuring it out upon closer inspection.
