The Woodsman was very much enjoying the journey with his new friends, even when the journey took them deeper and deeper into the dark forest. He barely remembered this part of the forest, mainly for two reasons: he had rarely ventured this far from the cabin, and not to mention he hadn't been able to see anything other than a particular spot on a particular tree for a very long time. He was lost (as, likely, everyone else was), so he had no choice but to continue to follow everyone else down the path, trying to think of a way he could repay his friends for saving him...
In the middle of his thoughts, the Woodsman was startled by a... whatever that thing was... jumping out at them! It looked very ferocious, and it seemed like it was going to attack them! Tron glanced over at Miss Gale (he barely acknowledged that her appearance had changed; maybe certain people in Oz have that ability?) and Mister Scarecrow and the... blue whateveritwas that kept following them, before realizing what he had to do and how he could repay his friends.
He stared the attacking creature down, noticing that it was focusing much of its attention toward him. That was both good and bad, because it would at least give his friends time to run to safety while the creature was distracted with fighting him. Then again, he would suffer the most damage out of all of them... but he was made of tin, wasn't he? He was a very formidable Woodsman.
Then again, how did he know so much about fighting? Maybe it was an instinct of some kind.
The Woodsman bravely stepped toward the creature and took out his weapon, but didn't strike yet.
"Now, that was completely uncalled for," he scolded the creature after it growled at him again, in the meantime making himself look more threatening in an attempt to further his point. "You will stand down right now. You won't attack my friends if I have anything to say about it. If you take one more step toward us, I won't be afraid to use this." Whatever it was. "Make your choice... thing." He wasn't sure if he was supposed to expect the creature to understand him, but this was Oz, after all.
