A word to the wise: Never do, or say anything that would displease the Mistress of all Evil. To do so would -- Quite obviously -- Invoke the wrath of Maleficent. King Stefan, his Queen, and the three 'good' fairies had already done so in the past.
This time, it was Basil of Baker Street who would have his fare portion of what Maleficent was capable of, and the fairy wanted to wait until the right moment to take Basil by surprise -- And did she have a surprise prepared for him!
Perhaps it's said by the three good fairies that Maleficent knows nothing about love, but the fairy held some partiality toward her raven, Diablo. Maleficent's excuse this time around? The fairy did not appreciate having a book thrown into her companion's beak, and she was more then happy to inform Basil of this...
So, the question remained: What did Maleficent have in store for Basil?
A curse. Perhaps nothing too severe -- At least, compared to the other curses the fairy had placed upon others in the past -- But it should prove sufficient for Basil.
"Sleep, and may you sleep well; Dream of delicious fish and delightful mice-hunting, for when you awaken, you will awaken with these instincts and desires. Embrace the way of the cat, and take heed of the dogs. Now sleep, and may you sleep well, for when you awaken, you will begin your new life as a feline; A cat."
It was known far and wide that mice never got along well with cats. Come daytime, when the sun rises and Basil awakens, the curse Maleficent had placed upon Basil as he slept...
Maleficent smirked wickedly to herself as she returned to the resort she stayed at for the night. She would have to make it a note to herself to visit Basil the next day and inquire how he enjoyed roaming the parks as a cat.
