Original character analysis. (Everything must be in your own words! Please be thorough.)[/ul][/font][/i]
Big Mama also serves as a peacekeeper and mediator in arguments. Many of the other forest creatures listen to her out of respect for both her wisdom and her kindness. She is a sharp woman (um, owl), and has been around the block, so she knows how things work.
History: It seems like Big Mama, as she is affectionately known as, has always been around. She was born and raised in the forests of Tennessee, and had a very typical life for an owl (you know, survival of the fittest and all that jazz), save that unlike most of her kind, her predatory instincts are tempered by a maternal nature that extends towards nearly all creatures. This won her many friends of varying species among a number of the other forest dwellers.
The day a little orphaned fox came into her life, Big Mama, who witnessed the tragic fate of the cub's mother, took it upon herself to find someone to care for him. Together with fellow birds and friends Dinky the sparrow and Boomer the woodpecker, they devised a plan for Widow Tweed to find the fox. As expected, the kindly human woman took him in, naming him Tod.
Big Mama made sure to help keep an eye on the mischievous Tod, but didn't count on his befriending a hound puppy named Copper of all things. What's even more ironic is that Copper belonged to Amos Slade, a hunter (whom Big Mama suspected was the very same hunter who killed Tod's mother).
The owl gently warned Tod that his unorthodox friendship would not survive as he and Copper grew up, but Tod was reluctant to end his relationship with Copper.
When Tod was an adult, Big Mama learned that Widow Tweed had been forced to take Tod far away to a wildlife preserve for his own safety after Amos swore to kill Tod for (unintentionally) getting his senior dog, Chief, nearly killed by a train while Tod was trying to escape Chief and his master. Big Mama knew this preserve very well, as a friend of her's, Vixie, a charming vixen about Tod's own age made her home there.
Traveling there to see how Tod fared, she found one very lonely, very depressed fox. Feeling bad for the boy and deciding he needed a friendly (and pretty) face to lift his spirits, Big Mama sought Vixie out and introduced her to Tod, hoping that a romance would blossom between the pair.
And things between Tod and Vixie did start off nicely, but nearly derailed when Tod, in an attempt to show off in order to impress Vixie, humiliated himself trying to catch a fish and was laughed at for his efforts by Vixie, Boomer, Dinky, and some other animals. Thankfully, Big Mama got things straightened out between the would-be love birds.
Her job done, Big Mama returned home, feeling reassured that things would be all right. Therefore, she wasn't around when Amos, vengeance still on his mind, took Copper to the preserve and hunted Tod and Vixie down, and the climatic battle that resulted when a giant enraged black bear interrupted Amos' plans.
Big Mama was shocked to hear of all of this from her vulpine friends, but was extremely glad to that everyone survived (yes, even old Amos) and Tod and Copper had managed to patch up their fractured friendship. She still lives out of her tree by the Tweed residence -- until the day she mysteriously found herself transported to the Magic Kingdom that is...

What makes this character unique: Okay, so Disney already has a handful of "wise old owl" type characters and plenty of awesome animal moms, only Big Mama's "child" isn't even her own! She serves an important role in Tod's life, and is a life coach, a foster mom, and a matchmaker all rolled up into one. She's quite the charmer, and has plenty of potential in a fun setting like this!
RP SAMPLE:
Inside a hollow in the bore of the tree that served as her home, Big Mama stirred within her nest, awakened by ferocious baying and barking in the distance that shattered the silence of the foggy Tennessee morning.
Sounded like a dog on the trail of some poor critter, old Chief maybe. Well, she wasn't going to be able to go back to sleep now. Owls were night birds, and she wasn't much of a morning person.
Waddling out onto the branch, she looked towards the wide field that stretched out in the distance. Now fully awake, her keen yellow could make out something moving through the high grass of the field. Intrigued, she watched as a young vixen emerged near the fence separating the property from the meadow. It must have been she that the dog was pursuing, poor girl.
The fox was carrying something in her mouth -- a cub, the great horned owl realized. Setting the little bundle of fur down by one of the fence posts that was fairly close to Big Mama's tree, the mother fox lovingly nuzzled her cub before the dog's frenzied barks, now closer then before, rang out again, causing her to jerk her sleek head up and glance around to see where her enemy was. Then she was off, a reddish-orange flash streaking into the distance like a flame.
BANG!
Big Mama flinched as the blast of a shotgun erupted, and a look of horror overtook her features. The vixen had been trying to lead the hunter and his dog away from her baby... but she hadn't made it. The bird hadn't realized that she had been holding her breath the entire time.
Giving a sorrowful sake of her head, she took wing, alighting by the fence post where the orphan had been placed. Obviously frightened, the cub was curled into a ball, making him look even smaller then he already was. With no one to take care of him, the poor little thing wouldn't last moment out here alone. Big Mama wouldn't allow that to happen to him if she could help it, no sir!
