character basics.[/ul]
Age: 16/17
Species: Human/Witch.
Birthplace: Agrabah
Movie: Aladdin (TV Series)
Title: Witch of the Sands
Why: Namely, I picked Sadira because she just feels the most interesting of the Aladdin series, which is my favorite of the Disney franchises when it comes to TV shows. She just had a sense of depth when you looked at her that none of the other antagonists gave. Not even Mozenrath who is my favorite villain of the Disney universe. She's a witch, but she's not an evil one. Her spells ARE evil, and she'll admit it, but she never truly hurt anyone or wished to see anyone in pain. For the most part she was just rather confused about what she wanted and how to get it, but she reformed which very few antagonists do, especially in the Disney universe. To me, she just seems like she could have so much potential as a character and for character growth and just a great deal of fun all around.

Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)[/ul]
Facial description/mood expressions: Sadira can be described as pretty in her own way. While she doesn't have the beauty of the usual Disney princess, she's not ugly. Her lips are just thick enough to make the pouty face just perfectly.
Clothing style: Her typical style of clothing is usually rags. The same, dirtied white poofy pants as Aladdin's with a similar shirt to match, each elbow with patches. Both her pants and her sleeves come up short a noticeable few inches before reaching her hands or feet. Also, she wears a teal vest of sorts over her white shirt and, typically, a blue sash tied around her waist as a belt. She has been known to conjure up different articles of clothing for costumes using her sand magic, but those are one time only deals.
Body build: It comes from living on the streets where every meal is a test in itself. The girl is very slender, though she's not without curves of her own, however, they tend to be hidden under the baggy clothes. But, she is very athletic and her body is more than capable of handling her stunts. Her skin is a darker color than most of the heroes and heroines in Disney, due to her heritage and being out in the sun so much.

Original character analysis. (Everything must be in your own words! Please be thorough.)[/ul]
One of the big parts of her personality that is shown to most people is a rather snappy attitude. She will seem to be proud of her abilities and is a very stubborn girl most of the time. What she wants, she wants and will work her hardest to get. Being a street rat all of her memorable life, she didn't have the comfort of having a friend of any sort and as thus had to rely on herself and her own abilities to survive. However, she is quite naive which often leads her to getting in over her head with things often, and when things do or people point out that they have, she has a tendency to get defensive, she is quite feisty when it comes down to it.
However, towards her true friends, people she feels she could trust no matter what, she will show a sweet and loving side. And once she has made these friends, she will never abandon them. She has been shown to being loyal to them after they have betrayed her multiple times, in hopes they will learn to trust her as she trusts them. That aside, having fell in love once, Sadira cannot forget that feeling and looks constantly for someone who can love her as she loves them.
History:
Sadira has never thought of herself as so unfortunate. Everything that has happened to her is just...life. Since the beginning the girl was born into poverty, her mother died in childbirth and despite his best intentions, her father was never around very much and couldn't care for a child as properly as she should have been. Between his meager work and the challenges of raising a child, her father worked himself to death and left the girl alone at age 4.
It was a difficult life, if you can imagine. No family to be taken in by, there isn't much left for a little girl to do in the dirty and rough streets of Agrabah, there is no solace or orphanage and so she learned from a different school then others. She learned from the school of life. She found herself constantly hungry and a constant desire to feed herself. But, food cost money and money was not something people gave away so easily. However, she found other ways. Begging rarely worked, even if the beggar was a child of 5. Luckily, because of her size, she was easily able to slip in and out of places undetected to get food and even those shiny gold coins which others treasured so much.
It didn't take her very long to figure out how those coins worked and other valuables. She could buy things such as food and other assorted items, valuable things such as fitting clothes which proved essential as she grew. However, the girl's conscious was too much of a strain after one time when she stole a bit too much and saw the devastation to the people she stole from. It was too terrible to see other people hurt in such a way, so she decided to steal money on rare occasions and to limit her theft to mostly food and only what she needed to survive.
The years ticked on and life went on it's humdrum way. Ducking the guards seemed to be an easy pastime when ever someone actually spotted her. It was a big city, the kingdom of Agrabah, so it was easy to hide in various nooks and crannies of the city and the backroads began to feel like home to her. The more she explored, the more hiding places she found for when she was escaping. Throughout the years, she became very well noted for her speed and agility as well as her acrobatic skills.
One evening, she was approached by a few men from the Skull and Dagger tavern, a notorious hide-out for the scum and villainy of the city and she was but a young girl. However, they had little intentions on harming her. They needed someone so unassuming as her and the promise of never having to steal again was too overwhelming. One last job for the rest of her life. All she would have to do was break into the palace. There were many secret entrances and picking the lock of the treasure room would be child's play. And so, Sadira took the job.
It was dark that night, not a sight of a stream of moonlight penetrated the cloudless skies. And so she entered alone, she was small and slipped past the guards and into an area only she could make it into. Once that was done, she went to a more accessible area to let her companions in, who had already disposed of the local guards. Getting them into the treasury room was simply child's play.
However, while the thieves were plundering, a little girl roamed the halls and saw Sadira, who was standing watch. The girl shouted in a voice which told Sadira this girl was around her age, though a year or so older. She had to shut her up, so she ran over to her and covered her mouth. She begged her, pleaded with her not to shout for the guards again. They had so much, the Sultan and the people who lived in the palace while she had never had anything. It was a wonderful thing this girl, the Princess Jasmine, had a compassionate heart for the thieves and their accomplish made off with as much as they could.
Once safe, the girl expected a sizable portion of the take, but wound up with a smack in the face and a boot out as they laughed in her face. To be shown such kindness by the Princess herself and such betrayal by people who were just like herself. It broke her heart and her faith in all humanity. She would not allow herself to be hurt in such a way again. And so, she distanced herself from making friends from then on. But, not before she alerted the guards HERSELF about a tip of the break in and none of those men lived to tell the tale.
Years past, scrapping and scrimping to eat another day, and around her 16th year, the girl found herself running from the guards yet again, only to be stopped this time. Caught. However, someone seemed to actually care. Not for any other reason but sheer kindness. Aladdin was his name. It took but moments for her to fall in love with him, or at least she convinced herself it was love. Honest and true.
However, there was one slight problem. He had a girlfriend, who just turned out to be THAT Princess Jasmine who saved her life. However, and perhaps luckily, the princess didn't seem to remember her and she wanted to keep it that way. Sadira had fallen head over heels in love with Aladdin and would try anything she could to have him for her own. That's when she stumbled upon an amulet and the ancient scrolls of the sand witches. Thrice she tried to steal him away, and thrice she failed before she finally gave up and realized there was no possible way of making him love her. But, once she realized it was not love she felt, she could see the flaws in Aladdin better and made friends with Jasmine once again, though she still keeps the secret of that night in the palace for herself.
Today, she hones her craft and spends as much time as possible with her friends, though it's not very much since they are often on some royal mission or adventure. How fun it would be to join them on such an adventure, but even she realizes that at her current skill, there are so many spells she doesn't know and hasn't mastered and she might end up messing up in the heat of the moment. But, still, she works hard at her craft in hopes one day she will be able to go on an adventure and fall in love with someone of her own...That is, until now, when a new adventure will begin.
Ambitions:
- Friendship: It's something that she has been denied all her life because of her status and gender. Agrabah really isn't the best place for a homeless streetrat, let alone a girl one. So, if the opportunity presented itself for a true friend, she would do anything for them.
- Master Magic: It was her first real skill that set her apart. To inherit the secrets of the Witch of the Sands. A dead art revived by her. She may say she's only mediocre, but given the chance, she's already proven herself more than adept at many spells.
- To fall in love: Yes. It's cliche, but it's true. Growing up, she had no one to depend on but herself so it's been a dream to have someone to love who would love her so she wouldn't be alone. Hence the obsession with Aladdin. He was the first person to actually be kind to her so she convinced herself that she was in love with him.
Strengths & abilities:
-Sand Magic: She's the only person to learn the secrets of the sand witches for thousands of years, it gives her an edge on others. Living in a desert just gives her the home field advantage. Sand magic is been shown as very different. It has been shown to create steel cages, brainwash people, as a transportation device (dissolving into sand and reappearing in another place), to create creatures under her control, even create alternate realities, among other things, many of which have not been explored.
-Acrobatics and Agility: She's a street rat. She's been running from the guards and stealing, picking locks, since as long as she could remember. Though she will typically rely mostly on her magic, she's shown agility and acrobatic skills that can rival even Aladdin.
-Loyalty: Even in the face of betrayal of her friends, such as being locked in chains after trying to help, she will still remain loyal to them, even risking her own life to save theirs.
Flaws:
-Over Emotional: Sadira has been known to take slight comments far too serious than they were intended. If she feels like she's being attacked verbally, even if it's not the intention, she will run off to cool off.
-Inexperienced in Magic: According to the series and her own words, she's not all too accomplished in magic and often called incompetent. It's hard to believe since most of the time in the series, she is shown to pull of complex and successful spells, often goofed by other people meddling in her affairs. However, this is just the words of the writers.
-Obsessive: She's been prone to let her emotions rule her, as stated before. If she wants something, she'll go out of her way to obtain it. When she wanted Aladdin, she spent countless days pouring over scrolls to get him. Changing lives and even brainwashing Aladdin himself. It takes a good deal to snap her out of her obsession and when she does obsess, it consumes her whole life.
-Insecure: It's hard not to believe this, but when you live your entire life under the feet of everyone else, you don't really have that much self-confidence in your own worth. She'll put on a brave face for people she doesn't know, but admits her insecurities when around those she are comfortable.

What makes this character unique: Much of what makes Sadira unique is in the section of why I picked her. But, another reason why she is so unique and different is that though she began as an antagonist, she did what others rarely do. She moved on. She began as absolutely obsessed with Aladdin, spending 3/4th of her screen time trying to steal him from Jasmine and going through extravagant lengths to do so, but eventually she realized it could never be. It was a choice, she wasn't doing it to gain anything for herself or because it was a "do this or else" choice. It was a personal choice. She even found her romantic rival to be her very best friend, casting aside her petty hatred and jealousy of her. Most of the antagonists you see will rarely EVER do this.
RP SAMPLE:
This was a strange world. However, one thing was certain, she wasn't in Agrabah. Scrolls laid littered around hardened earth as people blustered about in the strangest clothing, talking to each other and pushing whining children in carts or leading them screaming about, not even bothering to help her pick up the ancient secrets of the sand. In fact, they might as well have been purposely trying to step on them. How rude, indeed! Never once did the girl's spells go so terribly wrong as to take her into another universe entirely. And the ground, never before did the sand burn her bare feet in such a manner. Not a speck of sand to be seen, only disgusting dirt which made very poor ingredients when trying to master the ancient art of the sand.
It began to seem like a hopeless cause, the noise was such like the marketplace at rush hour, but very few people seemed to be working. They all seemed to be loafing about, enjoying themselves in a peak work time. Perhaps the spell had affected the people and made them all very useless in the ways of the world. But, upon further reflection, that did not seem like a very plausible idea. And the witch of the sands sighed as she reached down to pick up the final scroll, balancing it carefully with the rest. It must have seemed rather silly for someone to watch her try to balance and walk and hold all those scrolls at once, especially since her vision had been skewed by the height. However, looking back, the girl doubted anyone even noticed her. This had to still be within the boundaries of Agrabah, no where else could people be so inconsiderate than within that kingdom. Though, they weren't all bad, they street rat remembered fondly. It would be a wonder if she found her friends Aladdin and Jasmine and the rest within this alternate reality.
Noise poured into her from all directions and yet, the brunette wanted to get away from all the hassle. Once she discovered her magic, sad excuse as it was, he girl removed herself from the common rabble as much as she could. Sadira needed quiet and an abundance of it! Spells went wrong all too often without the distractions provided by outsiders who cared little for a girl of such a meager background. So, wherever there was a treasure trove of sound, it could be seen that the sand witch went the opposite direction, backtracking and turning around on heel quite often.
"Mommy! Mommy! Who is that? She's dressed funny!"
Shouted a little girl from the crowd, it sounded as if she were no more than a mere tot. It was just at this moment, distracted by the lone voice among the multitudes, that the sand witch ran into a man who seemed to tower quite significantly over her, and casted her scrolls upon the uncaring ground beneath her burning feet.
"Ugh! This is the worst spell, honestly! I don't know what it has done, but I absolutely can't stand it! Crossing it out permanently."
Once more, she began to gather up scrolls only to be approached by a strange looking little girl. Well, it's not that she was so much strange, in fact she was quite cute as a button! But her skin was so pale, as if she had been locked within her home since she was born. And her hair! It was red! She had never seen red hair. Sadira gave a rather puzzled look at her and then her parents, much more to her surprise was when she presented her with a small book and pen.
"Can you sign my book, pretty please?"
Of course, this was such a strange custom and Sadira gave a troubled look to the girl's parents who were taller than her still.
"We're sorry, our daughter is just set on getting all the cast member's autographs no matter how...unimportant they are."
That was just the wrong tone, Sadira might have been willing before, but to be cast out as if she were some nobody? And what is this "cast member" thing they called her? Some insult, judging by her tone and that condescending attitude. Did they not know who she was?! The little girl who approached her just went right out of her mind at that moment and she stood up and looked towards her parents with an inner fire which had been stoked by their ignorance.
"Not important?! Don't your realize I am SADIRA?! Heir to the secrets of the witches of the sand? Why...why I'm far more important than you or any of these 'cast members', which I am not one of! How dare you call ME unimportant! I am FAR from unimportant you...you...you nobodies! Hmph!"
Perhaps they got the message, because they left in a huff saying they were going to report her to the manager or...something, whatever a manager was. No one was her boss! However, it was a good thing the man didn't do anything, it seemed like his physical strength could overwhelm her...if he could catch her. She had been dealing with the palace guards for since childhood, she probably could take him. There had to be sand around her somewhere so she could pose a more real threat if something were to happen. How dare they mock her like that anyways? But, sadly, first things must come first and these scrolls must be picked up. And so, back to doing so the girl went with a sad sigh.
