"Just Maui is fine," Maui chuckled. That faded quickly. “You mean... you’re a mortal... with powers?” It defied everything he thought he knew about the ways of gods and mortals. At her nod, Maui’s jaw dropped. “How is that even possible?” he asked in disbelief. She mentioned a god named Hades, and Maui shook his head. "Never heard of him. But the god of Pulotu is Elo," he told her. Unless, as Maui had considered before, there were far more gods and goddesses than he was aware of...
Elsa answered his unasked question with a smile. Then she surprised him by casually mentioning an accidental blizzard. His forehead creased. “You wanna explain that?” he asked her as they reached their destination.
Maui had barely registered the chill when Elsa apologized. She waved her hand, removing all of the snow from his hair, and Maui stared. He also noticed that the snow coming down was staying outside, even when a cold wind sent shivers down his spine.
Following the unusual mortal, Maui moved carefully through the café. One careless move would probably reduce a few of these tables to splinters, and he didn’t want to hurt any of the mortals. His fishhook rested across the back of his neck as he eased between the tables, wishing for the first time ever that he wasn’t so big. His shapeshifting wasn’t able to affect his size like that. No matter what animal he took the shape of, it would always be a little bigger than average. He considered morphing into a lizard or beetle, but Elsa stopped at a table. She sat down, and Maui did as well, without much thought. But his chair broke beneath his weight, and Maui crashed to the ground.
((OOC--I'm not just posting willy-nilly with Maui whenever he talks about mythology. I'm mostly using Samoan mythology, though I'll use Hawaiian if I can't find something I'm looking for in Samoan.))
