Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's MAGGIE, and I wished upon a star from AD I believe it was. My other imaginary friends include HAMISH/HUBERT/HARRIS, FALINE. BAGHEERA and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Bagheera
Age: 5 years (?)
Species: Black Panther (Indian Black Leopard)
Birthplace: Jungles of India
Movie: The Jungle Book (I & II)
Custom title: Minder of Mancubs
Why: Why'd you pick this character?
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description: Short black fur all over his body. It naturally is not always the most kempt, what with the panther living in the jungle, but he tries with all the attention of cats and more so than other wild animals perhaps.
Facial description/mood/expressions: This panther's face can work itself into a frown just as easily as a smile and tends towards the former way too often, but then maybe that's to understandable with those he has to deal with! He does try to smile though, and often when nothing disastrous is going on, a sort of medium ground half smile can be found on his muzzle.
Clothing style: None.
Body build: Slender and muscular both, with both a build and claws well suited to climbing trees and making through his terrain. He also possesses all the grace of cats, if having to put more attention to where his feet end up due to his heavier weight than say house cats.
Any unique traits (optional): He feels his understanding of Man's culture a bit above the average jungle denizen's, though of course never as much as Mowgli comes to hold
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
History:
The panther of coruse loved his parents, but also held a profound respect for his Great Grandfather, who just seemed so wise even if he didn't leave the family's carved out spot of jungle much. He taught Bagheera all about the Jungle Law and how fairness above all counted and no creature was above Man or the Elements. It was a bad thing, the inability to fully challenge Man, but important to be known. You never caused that war, Man would always challenge the jungle and to over challenge him was to just bring more trouble upon the jungle and all it's inhabitants.
Growing and after witnessing for himself, Bagheera came to view Man as just dangerously naive in how he went about things and disregarding of the Jungle Law but hatred never spawned and not too much of the fear that would send the monkey's skittering to the tree tops. The panther continued to believe a solution was at hand and had to be somewhere in how to bring balance to it all.
He never got any closer to this solution until stumbling upon a discarded basket with a Man's cub inside. Many of the jungle would have urged the panther to snuff out trouble then and there but the child was nothing but helpless and his species wasn't his fault. Not that Bagheera thought to somehow bring about the balance he hoped towards in helping the child, that was just a back of the mind hope and only brought the basket to the wolves for the child's own sake and survival.
As he hoped they took the child in, calling him Mowgli. While that should have been that, Bagheera couldn't help but be intrigued by the child's progress and often stopped by to ensure, especially if he was going to be a Man's cub raised and living in the jungle, that he knew of the Jungle Law and was nothing like what Shere Khan feared. Even so he knew the arrangement couldn't be permanent and, sure enough, when Khan moved his hunting grounds back to their patch of the Seonee, a meeting was held of the wolf council. Rather than have the child try to find his own way, and undoubtedly just find his way to Khan's claws, Bagheera offered to lead him to his kind and thus help him find safety. Contrary to what all probably felt, including and especially the Man-cub, he was sorry to see Mowgli go as well, but it was the best for all. Shere Khan had stopped listening to reason of such things as helpless children long ago.
Of course Mowgli had a similar problem, due to his young age, Bagheera knew, but still! Rushing off after an argument and finding Baloo did nothing to help the situation and in fact just allowed for more trouble getring Lou the Ape involved on top of Kaa becoming aware of the child.
Rescue of Mowgli essentially meant bringing the whole of the monkey kingdom down, not Baheera's chosen idea of how to go about it and he was surprised by all one Man's cub caused. He finally got Baloo to see reason though and agree to take the Mancub to the villiage, Mowgli having since stopped listening to Bagheera on such matters.
He knew Baloo tried much as the bear could, but he of course botched it up and Mowgli ran off, all but into the claws of Khan as Bagheera had feared. Thankfully the Man cub was resourceful, as the panther had little doubt he would be, that was one of the good qualities of Man, and defeated Khan with the one thing he feared, fire.
While Bagheera wasn't overly surprised, it had been more than he'd found it in him to hope for from the encounter and he wouldn't have risked Mowgli on the stakes of such.
Defeat of Khan aside, Mowgli didn't belong in the jungle, fully, and yet Bagheera couldn't find justification for telling either him or Baloo this, thankfully Order and the Mancub himself took care of it when spotting one of his own (maybe female even providing extra incentive) was enough to convince Mowgli to finally be with his own kind and, Bagheera hoped, to spread love of the jungle amongst his own and maybe in some small way be a solution to the larger problem of Man.
The panther headed off back to the jungle with Baloo, trying to figure out how to politely get ride of the bear but not fully minding his antics, when he suddenly found himself awaking to an entirely new place not even seeming to be India!
Ambitions: Find a way back home as well, keep the jungle safe, Keep Mowgli safe, Baloo as well (though he may not state it), ensure wherever he is the Jungle Law is upheld and Order kept.
Strengths & abilities: Agility, powerful claws and teeth, balance, quick fe--paws, reason, common sense.
Flaws: Easily riled (even if to annoyance mostly), hard headed, stubborn, not as physically powerful as Khan
Likes: Order, Peace, Cool light rainy nights of the jungle, not too hot days
Dislikes: Bal- Complete disregard for responsibility, silliness, buillying, No order, being insulted.
Fears: Man (to a healthy extent), Red Flower (though he feels he half understands it), Harm to Mowgli, Baloo or the jungle, Change he can't cope with or understand.
