When Violet told her where the pot was, Helen shook her head with a wry smile out of disappointment to herself upon finding that it was indeed behind the ingredients. "Sorry, Vi.. I guess I'm still used to finding things in the kitchen myself!" Having only just been in the motel kitchen yesterday, if you can even call it that, it was strange having everything she wanted in front of her. That was too convenient! Perhaps it was because Helen had kids and that right there was a hazard waiting to happen if she were to put all the pots and pans out on the table like that. Thankfully though, the little rummaging that Helen had already done for herself allowed her grasp where the additional things where in the kitchen and she instantly adapted to how the kitchen was set up.
"That's great, Vi! Ya want it close to halfway.. Just enough to cover up all the pasta that we'll put in there." Helen praised Vi for taking the initiative in filling up the pot without being asked. She was paying attention to the last time she was cooking after all! That gave her an idea. "Alright, we put a spoonful of salt and vegetable oil.." Helen poured some salt and oil on a spoon over the pot upon opening the containers, "Then we pour in all the pasta from the box and set it to medium heat..go ahead, Vi!" She gestured to her daughter to pour in all the pasta and set it to the correct heat.
"So, while that's softening up, we'll start cooking the broccoli." She instructed to the two and began taking out the garlic cloves and broccoli from the grocery bags. "Queen Elsa, ya wanna cut some broccoli with us?" She offered to the queen with a warm smile. She wasn't sure if that was right to assume that a queen would want to cook, given that she probably had servants for that, but she decided to extend the offer anyways. Broccoli was easy to cut into, but she decided to give some responsibility for Violet and give her the harder task of mincing the garlic. "Vi, I'll show you how to cut the garlic on one of the these, so that you can do the other two yourself. Just be careful, sweetie.." She showed her how to peel off the skin of the garlic, take out the cloves, and use the kitchen knife to press onto the clove so that it was easier to mince them, which she demonstrated to her slowly so that she could grasp the movement in which to mince them. Helen carefully placed the knife down on the table and gestured her to try it on the other two garlics, giving a glimpse over at the fettucine pasta cooking to find that it was still softening up, but mostly surveying her close by to make sure that Violet doesn't cut herself.
