Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's EbonyPatriot, and I wished upon a star from Whatsits Galore many moons ago (possibly linked from the old Disney Ever Notice Site?) . My other imaginary friends include Ronno, Bolt and Accipiter. Geno & Gurri and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Geno & Gurri
Age: 3 Months Old
Species: White-tailed Deer, Odocoileus virginianus borealis
Birthplace: Novus Forest, Maine, USA, 04/21/1941
Movie: Bambi (1942)
Custom title: Bambi’s Children
Why'd you pick this character? Perhaps the worse thing about never getting around to my sequel to “Madness of Prince Ronno” is that I never got to run these guys. The little only time I ran them, a short story in French for (what else?) French class, only made me want to run them more. I like their personalities: rude, nervous, yet noble and sensible Geno, flighty, impulsive, yet kind and compassionate Gurri. I want to bring these guys to life (and, unlike the Better Little Book and comic adaption, have one that’s not just a retelling of the book ).
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description: Neither fawn is the exact color of their parents. Geno’s coat is caramel color, with a chestnut dorsal streak from brow to tail, and sand-colored muzzle, eye-ring, ear lining, underside and spots. This ruddy coloring traces back both to his sire Bambi and especially his ill-fated uncle, Gobo.
Gurri inherited a version of her grandsire’s colors, although she takes after her dame, Faline’s, pale coat Gurri’s coat is buff, with a russet dorsal streak from brow to tail, and a wheat-colored eye-ring, ear lining, underside and spots.
The fur on Geno’s crown is scruffy and shaggy, while Gurri’s is much less ruffled.
Both siblings share the black-tipped ears common to fawns to area. Both have a soft, silky, thin coat, covering all but rostral pinna, nose and hooves.
Facial description/mood/expressions: Geno’s face is alert and nervous: his aquamarine eyes are the first open from a nap, quick to check out his surrounding. Geno remains focused and intent: nothing can distract him from his mission! (Not even a sister snatching his ear). Not until he’s confident that all’s well will Geno think about other manner: even then, he’s all business!
Gurri’s face is much more relaxed: she is quite content to let her brother do the watching. This allowing her more time for mischief, changing her expression with each impulsive thought. She surprises easily, and wants to explore all there is right now. At the same time, Gurri is not afraid to show her emotions, especially in her burnt-sierra color eyes, letting her love for dame and sire show through her face.
Clothing style: Neither fawn has quite experienced man or his animals, so neither have the vaguest clue about clothing.
Body build: At this time, both have a similar build: spindly, too-long legs, toros so small the stifle rests above the olecrannon when they rest, and round heads. Geno’s muscular limbs whisper of his great speed that he will soon show, while Gurri’s slender frame speaks of her great agility.
Any unique traits (optional): Since they were twins, they’re smaller than both of their parents were at that age.
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
Geno is alert and nervous: it takes little to startle him into full gallop. Perhaps because of this, Geno is prone to a rather rude tongue, bristling with empty threats. However he has a noble heart and a strict code of ethics. Geno is curious and loves to hear the same stories again, disregarding other’s annulment.
Gurri is impulsive and flighty: though she easily startles, she wants to explore everything. Gurri uses her sarcastic side to mask her compassionate nature: she truly wants the best for all creatures. Life is a game for Gurri, and she’s prone to impulsive decisions. Gurri can be impatient at time, however she has a kind heart. /p]
History:
Geno and Gurri came into the world with quite a legacy: the grandchildren of the Great Prince of the Forest, children of Bambi and Faline (who braved a fire while she was carrying them), born among a charred forest and on the day when Bambi took his sire’s place, twins born to a first-time dame— and the envy of Ronno.
Bambi was a much less nervous sire, although even he at first only visited his mate when the fawns were asleep. Once they took their first steps, Bambi greeted his family.
It didn’t take long for Geno and Gurri to realize that both parents were held in great respect in the forest. It was something to brag of: what animal would dare stand against them? It was something to find nerve-wracking: how could either compare to their legacy? Right now though, both focus on learning all that can about their family tree, their world— all they need to grow up.
From the time they were born, Geno & Gurri were surrounded with their parents’ friends and even better, their parents’ friends’ offspring. The fawns love nothing more than to romp with Thumper’s kits (Hopper, Patter, Hops and Epi) and Flower’s kits (Bambi Jr., Buttercup, Primrose, and Dayesye). Geno & Gurri were recently welcomed to the meadow a month prior. Both were quick to befriend grumpy Boso and cheery Loso, the children of Rolla, Faline’s best fawnhood friend, and Karus, Ronno’s older brother.
At this point, Geno and Gurri have weaned completely, however it will be a good or so before they can go without their parents’ care.
They know very little of Ronno, and what they do is rather conflicting: he’s Boso and Lana’s uncle-- Karus, Boso and Lana’s sire, is Ronno’s older brother, much like Até is to Boso and Lana.
However— they have both come to realize that there’s something between Ronno and their parents, some kind of terrible past...
Ambitions:
At this point, Geno and Gurri share rather simple ambitions: good food and weather, without fear of storms or the bizarre (and foreboding) winter their dame talks about, to play with their many friends,
That said, Gurri has dreams of following in her dame’s footsteps, while figuring out what exactly the title of princess entails. Meanwhile, Geno worries about his future: will he ever be able to measure up to his sire?
Strengths & abilities:
Not much: neither have particularly sharp hooves, let alone the ability to strike with much strength. Not until next will Geno grow his first antler stubs. No, at their age, running is their main defense— running, on long legs that allow them to run almost as fast as a grown deer, and their mother’s careful watch. (Which is still better than before: when they were younger, they were “hiders”, relying on their dappled coats to keep them save while their dame fed).
Flaws:
Geno is very, very nervous: the kind of guy who will bolt at the slightest thing. In addition, he’s rather rude and brash, which makes things tougher for him than they should.
Gurri on the other hand is very impulsive, the kind of gal who acts on the first though that comes to her head. Gurri’s moodiness and over-friendly nature often gets her in danger.
Likes:
Both love clover, especially the tasty blossoms. Geno prefers bluegrass, while Gurri prefers timothy.
Racing in the meadow.
Their family and friends.
Fireflies and stories.
Dislikes:
For Geno, his sister’s rashness and impatience.
For Gurri, her brother’s whining and repetition,
Both dislike rain and thunder..
Geno is especially terrified of dogs, while Gurri dreads foxes.
Fears:
Geno is especially terrified of dogs, while Gurri dreads foxes.
Fire.
Storms.
Man.
Anything to add?:
Neither of them realize it, but Geno eventually chooses Lana for his mate while Gurri chooses Boso.
Both will face their fear before their first birthday: Setis, the red fox, will attack Gurri in July, while Nero, the wolf-dog, will attack Geno in January.
Geno and Gurri actually saved their maternal grandmother: following the death of Gobo, Ena had all but given up. It was the Great Prince’s report of Faline’s pregnancy that saved her new life.
In the comics, it looks like they color Geno like a mini-Bambi, while Gurri is colored like a mini-Faline. However, according to Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston’s Bambi: The Story and the Film, the fawn in the back, the one who grabs the other’s ear, is the female; the blue-eyed fawn is the male. (In fairness, their color varies even in their short scene: at the long shot, Geno is pale, while the other is reddish. Geno’s deepens at the first close up, changes to the colors I used when Gurri stands up, then lightens again when the camera pulls out.
