"Alright, who ordered the griffon burgers?" The Manticore, or Corey as she was known as, called out as she delivered a few meals to another table. Normally, such a thing would be done by her servers. But at times, she wanted to be generous and to provide more of a thrill. She was outfitted in her normal armor as she put down the griffon burger by a salivating elf. "Charred broiled as requested. Personally done by me! And then we have the the druid's salad, and for the kids, the young adventurer's meal. Enjoy!"
It was busy as usual, yet she didn't care. She loved this! Going around, mingling with the customers, telling her stories and putting on a show. She was a quest giver, and she had plenty of stories to tell! This was the life she wanted, to run her business the way she wanted to. No gimmicks, no lousy mascots, no karaoke machines. Just pure 100% old-time family fun. She had to thank Ian for that. If the boy didn't step forward and argued with her, she would of been a miserable manticore who was willing to tone herself down just because she was 'too dangerous'.
With her current task done, Corey would go back to the kitchen to check up on the rest of the meals. When she was done with that, she could get started with her story telling. She was eager for the story telling, as she had some on mind. Mainly the one involving the hydra. That one was a thrilling battle! Multiple heads, multiple threats. That one always gets the blood pumping. She would go through the door to the kitchen, expecting to see the cooks being creative in how they make the food...
Though when she opened the door, she instead found herself outside. In front of her, looked like a mine track with people riding around in mine carts. When Corey looked behind her, instead of the main room, she saw a castle sitting on top of a cliff. The castle looked a bit intimidating...though she soon saw that it was actually a model, made to look like it was the real thing. All around was people who looked like elves, but lacked the long ears and had more of a pinkish skin. They were dressed in a variety of clothing, some having odd hats on them.
"What in the world...?" She muttered. Corey then would close his eyes and rub her brow, "Wait, hold on. I think I remember this." She then opened her eyes and grinned, "Ah! A teleportation spell. But there is usually some kind of magical residue..."
Something just screamed 'danger'. She was getting that vibe, the one that told her that there was a curse. Magic was odd, and the teleportation spell usually had some way to tell that it was cast before being whisked away. Maybe...a teleportation curse? But how?
Just then, a child would walk up to her, eagerly excited, "Mommy, its Corey!" She would exclaim. The Manticore blinked in surprise, before the child would give her a book, asking for an autograph.
"Uh.....sure...?" She said before she would find a blank page to sign her name on it. There were other autographs. Mickey Mouse, Stitch, Cinderella... sounded all like movie characters. Corey soon put her name down in it, a slight smile appearing on her muzzle, "There we go." She handed the book back, before the child ran off to join her parents.
Okay, this was weird. More weird than anything she encountered before.
