Coco had arranged another meeting with Esmeralda, partly to check back up on how the young woman was doing, as well as just take in and show some more of the treats available about the parks. Even their coffee shops were quaint, or theme fitting with the different areas of the parks, so that Main Street Bakery was very quaint.
The grandmotherly skeleton wasn't sure if, in her experiences back in Paris, Esmeralda had ever had a muffin quite as large as some of the ones on offer here! Or had coffee! Though the bakery of course also served tea if Esmeralda would prefer.
"These out do even my pan dulces!", Coco admitted, in both size and (perhaps) taste, though she knew many in her family would disagree with that last one! "Did they have pastries like this back in Paris?", she asked Esmeralda, and in making conversation, and as she worked towards also checking up on how the young woman had been settling in.
It was nice to see Coco again. She missed her company. She was so excited to tell her she had landed a job here within the parks of Disney. While they walked she arrived to a bakery and sat outside in one of the out door seating areas. She looked at her as she spoke to her and she chuckled softly. "Yes we have pastries within Paris. They are amazingly good. I love these as well. These are delicious" she said softly as she ate her food. She kept where she was and watched the passerbyes and she said nothing for several moments. "Pan Dulces? What are they if I may ask?" she questioned as she tilted her head smiling softly upon the elderly skeleton.
Esmeralda looked at her and she kept where she was. "Oh! I forgot to tell you! I've landed a job as a dancer and a palm reader!" she said smiling. "I read people's hands and tell them their fortune when no parades are happening" she said smiling brightly. "The cast members were generous enough to let me work with them and such. So its good I'm making some money here.." she said keeping where she was.
"How have you been Mama Coco? Is your family doing well?" she asked keeping where she was as she finished her snack, and offered some up to Djali. The goat happily accepted it. "These pastries are very good, for being a park snack. If I say so myself." she said with a light laugh. The young woman had been within Disney Parks for several months and were getting used to being here. She didn't know for how long, but she would get home soon enough. It was a nice change of scenery.
Coco had figured the pastries might be similar, between what she and Esmeralda were used to, but had also not wanted to assume. She smiled and nodded as the young woman said they were. "I know they sell some in the Paris section of the parks, but I wasn't sure how they compared to the authentic ones".
Although she knew from experience that the World Showcases of Epcot tried to match the varying countries they represented, like with the Mexico Pavilion where her Mamá's shoe shop was, she also knew few things could compare to authentic home-cooking, and especially her Mamá's!
Speaking of which, Esmeralda asked her for a clarification on what Pan Dulce were. Not to insult the Lightfoot boys, but Coco knew she could use better than just a donut as a reference point here.
"I think Paris' Beignets are very similar, or I've heard they are. But fried pastry, at times covered with powdered sugar also".
Actually now Coco was trying to think how the two differed. She was sure there was some subtle difference.
"Oh! I forgot to tell you! I've landed a job as a dancer and a palm reader!"
Esmeralda went on. "That's wonderful!", Coco smiled.
"I read people's hands and tell them their fortune when no parades are happening The cast members were generous enough to let me work with them and such. So its good I'm making some money here.."
"Oh yes! The Cast Members are so wonderful about working with everyone who's trapped here", Coco replied, and knew from how kind they'd been about accommodating the various members of her family here at any given time and those still here. Only Miguel had come and gone.
"How have you been Mama Coco? Is your family doing well?"
"Just fine, Gracias", Coco replied. "Mamá's shoe shop is still doing well, and Rosa is improving her violin playing with every day, we're all proud of her, but you should see how proud my Papá is!", she giggled.
She thought back on Esmeralda's palm-reading job. "Sadly I don't suppose you can read skeleton palms", she smiled, after looking at her own bony hand, "But how's the business going? Do many of the guests take you up on it?". Coco would let Esmeralda answer, but had the thought that if she was having trouble, the Paris pavilion was probably the best place to set up. Like how Mamá's shoe shop did so well in the Mexico Pavilion. The guests liked that feel of going with the theme.
Mama Coco was a sweet lady. She had missed her company very much. Esmeralda was very glad to have this day to do some catching up with Coco. She said nothing as she spoke about the pastries. Esmeralda soon broke off a piece and handed it to Djali who took it happily. Esmeralda stroked Djalis' forehead again and he settled down beside her again. She turned to look at the old woman again. She tilted her head as she spoke about the Pan Dulce again. "Very similar I believe." she said softly to her. She said nothing as she leaned back in her chair. Esmeralda was stuffed.
The Pan Dulce's sounded similar to the pastries back at home. "I would have to investigate into trying one of them one day! To see if they do taste like the ones back at home..." she said with a playful wink at Mama Coco. "Palm Reading and doing some of the dancing at the festivals or the parades are always fun for me. They also pay very well! Even though I work on Tips, but hey its better than nothing!" she said with a light laugh.
Soon Mama Coco questioned Esmeralda about her own hand. She blinked and assumed the lines in the hands were still here even if they were skeleton form. "Hmmm.. I don't know. I've never done a skeleton before! I could always try it though" she said offering her a small smile. "That's wonderful that your granddaughter is doing well with the Violin practices. Practice makes perfect. That's what my father always said back at home. He was the King of the Gypsies and adopted me and Now I'm a gypsy dancer and performer" she said softly keeping where she was. "Ah yes! I meant to mention the shoes! They are very comfortable. Tell Mama Imelda I adore these" she said showing off her shoe to Mama Coco. The Dark purple material matched well with her outfit.
Esmeralda looked upon her with a bright smile soon she offered her hand. "Let me see your hand and I can see if I can find anything" she said softly keeping quiet for several moments as she waited for Mama Coco's hand to see if she could read the grandmother's skeleton lines. She had a feeling due to the fact she was skeleton that the lines would still be there. Even if one is dead.

"I would have to investigate into trying one of them one day! To see if they do taste like the ones back at home..."
"Yes, I'll make you some", Coco promised. Even without the reasoning of letting Esmeralda compare between Pan Dulce and things like Beignets back home, she would have probably made the young woman some. Making and sharing food was just what her family had always done, same as their neighbors.
Coco knew scraping by. Mamá had made a bit better than tips when pinching and saving running her shoe business as Coco grew up, but they had also never been wealthy. Even now it was still a little bit of the Cast Members being so understanding that they could stay in such a hotel as the Grand Floridian, though oddly enough their shoe business was doing a bit better thanks to publicity, like Papá had tried for.
He still argued it was more her being famous, but, people knew them around here in a way that was still strange.
Coco nodded to the advise of Practice Making Perfect. It was, and had been true, even with her learning to make shoes.
She extended her hand over to Esmeralda to try for what she could read from her palm of even just the bone. Of course Mamá, ever the practical woman, would say palm reading was nonsense, but she was more supporting her friend than anything. Though Coco still intended to "pay" her with anything else Esmeralda might want from the cafe.
When Coco agreed to make her some it made Esmeralda smile some more. Silence was with her as the woman extended her hand. "Interesting. I would have thought the lines would have disappeared once someone died... " she said to herself keeping where she was. "It looks like new ones appeared since you went to the afterlife!" she said with amazement in her voice. She took a breather for a moment and she looked at Coco for a moment smiling a bit more. "Alright lets begin" she said softly as she scanned the woman's hand in front of her.
"By the way; You don't have to pay me anything. You are my honorary grandmother after all " she said chuckling looking at her. Then she eyed her hand again. "Well it seems you have a very long life line which is very good considering the fact you are here with us now. Even if you are a skeleton. And it looks like you are protective of your family and yet you are brave at the same time..." she said softly as she indicating what lines she was talking about. "You are also Loyal to your family and friends" she said smiling. "I see a wonderful fortune for you Mama Coco" she said covering Coco's hand with her own and she smiled softly upon the lovely grandmother.
Esmeralda then gasped as she saw Djali headbutting someone and she got up. "I am so sorry! Djali no! Bad boy; He's fine. I'm so sorry once more!" she said rolling her eyes at the goat. "No Headbutting Cast Members that are dressed up as Soldiers. " she said softly to him. She soon hugged him and walked back towards Mama Coco again. "I am sorry about that Mama Coco, He is not used to his surroundings just yet...." she said in a soft voice.

Esmeralda thought much like Coco had, and that any lines would have been within her actual palm, and no longer visible once she had passed away; yet the gypsy was able to find something. Coco peered forward, in interest, but not enough to hinder Esmeralda's work.
What Esmeralda went on to say made sense. Apparently new lines had appeared linked with her afterlife, and perhaps more to do with her soul than physical make-up, as before. "Interesting...but it also makes sense that that part of our personality would show as well!" she mused.
Esmeralda went on to say there was no need of payback. Coco smiled. The young woman was going to get desserts one way or another! Even if just by Coco's grandmotherly attitude towards all the lost young people she had encountered!
She had had a long life, yes, to her great gratitude, and even if the latter years were fogged over by memory loss. She recalled now at any rate. What Esmeralda said was perhaps no great reveal to those who had known Coco a long time, but she had not known her long enough to guess it all correctly, and so it was still phenomenal.
Brave? She'd never thought of herself that way before...she supposed she was to have ever gone against Mamá's wishes in banning music and dancing, though!
Or was that just foolish? Coco wondered to herself with a small smile.
Coco smiled towards Esmeralda once more, but before she could comment upon what the gypsy had said, Djali rushed over to headbutt one of the Cast Members! Coco covered her mouth, but partly from amusement, though she felt bad for such a reaction as well!
It was his outfit looking so much like a soldiers, as Esmeralda pointed out. Made sense. "Oh, no need to be sorry for this little one", Coco said, and gave Djali a pat as they came back over, "You should have seen what my great-grandson, Miguel's, dog got into", she chuckled.
The young gypsy had caught Djali and brought back to where they were sitting. "Djali he's not even a real soldier. Just a Cast member!" she muttered. She shook her head when she sat back down and she rubbed her forehead. "Thank god I don' t have any real kids.... Djali's the only one enough that I can handle...I don't know how I'd be as a mother...." she said suddenly keeping where she was. "One 'child' is enough" she said with a laugh. Esmeralda soon looked at Coco again as she spoke about her great grandson Miguel.
"What's Miguel like? I would love to meet him as well. You're parents Mama Imelda & Hector are very nice. I would like to speak more with your father one day....Since we didn't really get to talk back at the shoe shop as Mama Imelda began to work on my new shoes...." she said softly to Coco. Mama Coco's family was interesting; but it was Miguel whom she didn't get to meet just yet and he seemed like a lively boy and hoped to meet him. She loved her time in the Parks. Meeting various of different people.
"I wonder if there are leashes for Goats....." she teased looking around. Esmeralda soon looked over at Mama Coco again. "Not sure how to thank your family for the shoes... they are indeed comfortable...I should have purchased more" she said chuckling keeping where she was. "But one pair right now is good enough for me." she said smiling looking at her.

Coco smiled as Esmeralda said one goat was enough 'kid' for her to deal with. "No one really thinks they can do it until the time comes", she reassured, recalling her own two girls, Elena and Victoria, and when they were little. "But when you hold them for the first time...it's something else", her smile softened.
Of course maybe Esmeralda wouldn't even be a mother, but something in Coco read that she was more capable than she knew or felt she was perhaps, and so she had a hunch she would be, and a good one at that.
Her own reading of people perhaps.
"What's Miguel like? I would love to meet him as well"
"I've heard others in my family say he got mine and my mother's stubbornness...which I guess just means we both got hers", Coco smiled. "He's a sweet boy, and not that Abel and Rosa aren't and weren't as well, but he'd always come chat and have an orange for me. I don't know if oranges helped memory, but he thought they did since mine was failing at the time...well", Coco shrugged off the rest of her statement. But even before that, and when piecing things together after, she recalled the effort Miguel made.
Again, not that her other great-grand-kids hadn't in their own way as well. She had been one of the first people Rosa had wanted to play for when learning the violin, and aside from music pointers from Miguel.
Coco smiled pleased as Esmeralda said the shoes were working out just fine. Not that she'd had any doubts. Her family was known for high quality shoes. "I'm glad to hear it! And if you ever need anything, from repair to another pair, you just come by or tell me and I know Mamá will set you up!".
As much as she loved Djali he was a bit of a handful. Back in Paris, Esmeralda would just leave Djali with Clopin or the other members of the Gypsy clan so she can go exploring or do solo dancing for coins. Esmeralda listened upon when Coco spoke about holding a child for the first time after they were born. "I have helped though with some births that my family has had....back at home." she said softly. "I've held newborn babies or were there with them when they were born and such. Or at least giving birth..." she said smiling. "I usually help with picking out names... I'm usually the name keeper..." she said giggling a bit more. "My father named me when he found me. I have Emerald Eyes. Which is why My name is Esmeralda. It means Emerald" she said keeping where she was. Djali soon laid down beside Esmeralda and she looked over at him then back at Coco as she spoke about Miguel.
"Is Miguel here in the Parks too?" she asked keeping where she was for several moments. The young Gypsy looked about then back at Coco again. "Thank you Mama Coco. Your family is wonderful. I hope to find Miguel here within the parks. I would love to meet him.." she said in a soft voice keeping where she was for several moments keeping where she was as she watched him for a moment. Esmeralda looked around then back at Coco again. "Would you like to walk around the Park with me again? Have you been on any Rides yet Mama Coco?" she asked. "How is your Father? I would like to speak with him more since we talked briefly that time in the shop" she said softly keeping where she was. "I would also love to just hang out with your family in general" she said softly as she looked at the people as they came over then back over at Coco. She loved her honorary grandmother a lot. She was sure as well that her great grandkids and her own children loved her just as much.

Coco listened as Esmeralda explained about helping with the births back home, a soft smile coming to her face as she imagined each of the darling little bundles. When she had been born, it had been at home, she knew, with the local doctor coming around perhaps, and much the same with both Victoria and Elena. Her grandchildren, and especially great-grand, had been born in the perhaps humble but still capable hospital. Still family involvement and support was always right there.
And no different with a cobbled together family, Coco could imagine.
"I usually help with picking out names... I'm usually the name keeper..."
"Quite the honor", Coco agreed. Oh, families could get so heated up over the topic of names (and especially if you had the gall to seem like you slighted one grandparents over another or such!). Not hers, Coco would still defend.
"Is Miguel here in the Parks too?"
"Sadly, he went back home; well, not really sadly", Coco answered, and then fixed what she'd said. "Though they thankfully probably didn't know, I felt for his parents while he was here, and still feel for Berto and Carmen, Rosa's parents. She is the only of my great-grandchildren who is currently in the parks", Coco explained.
Esmeralda suggested a walk, and it sounded like a great idea to Coco. "Of course, I would love it, and yes, you stop by the shop any time you like, whether you need shoes or not!", Coco giggled as she stood to follow Esmeralda.
Esmeralda tilted her head with confusion when Coco mentioned that he had gone home. "So there is away out of this place. Not that I'm complaining...everyone here has been so welcoming... and so generous and kind and they helped me find a job! But honestly; I'm curious on how Miguel was been able to be sent home" she said with a bit of confusion in her face. She blinked for a few moments as she kept where she was for several moments. Silence was with her and she looked over at Coco again. "Yes; being able to help the birthing and then coming up with names, is always an honor for me" she said smiling keeping where she was.
When the old woman tried to get up Esmeralda went to her side. "You got it Mama Coco?" she asked tilting her head. She had her hands on either side of her in hopes she wouldn't fall. She watched her for a moment. "I think I will. Sometimes on my days off...." she said in a soft voice keeping where she was. Esmeralda looked around and Djali came up close to Coco and sniffed her again making sure she was alright. "Its okay Djali, Mama Coco is alright..." she said chuckling keeping where she was. "So! Where too?" she asked smiling keeping where she was. Esmeralda looked around her surroundings and she looked back at her again.
"Shall we just start walking and see where the road brings us? There's lots to see here!" she said smiling keeping still for a moment. "Oh! I can bring you to my little area where I do my palm readings!" she said happily keeping by Coco's side. She clasped her hands together. "Its a very comfortable place. Its in the heart of France in the Epcot section!" she said as they began walking.

"So there is away out of this place. Not that I'm complaining...everyone here has been so welcoming... and so generous and kind and they helped me find a job! But honestly; I'm curious on how Miguel was been able to be sent home"
Coco sighed, just as she thought over all of it, and how she didn't really have reassurances for Esmeralda, since the how of it all was still so unknown. "Yes, he was sent back just as suddenly as he seemed to have come. It...happens from time to time, and...no one can tell why or how any more than we can how we end up here...".
Coco smiled as Esmeralda offered to help her. Such courtesy towards Elders (which she was not too proud to admit she belonged to even as a skeleton and despite how young being around Papá always made her feel) did not go unnoticed, and she was happy to say that most of the young people she had run into had such courtesy.
Yet she was also happy to say she was doing a lot better in her skeleton form than she had in the latter years of her life whens she was wheelchair bound. "Thankyou dear, but I think I've got it", she reassured, though allowed Esmeralda to walk beside her.
"Shall we just start walking and see where the road brings us? There's lots to see here!"
"I think that's the best way to get anywhere, just seeing where the road and adventure leads!", Coco agreed with a smile.
"Oh! I can bring you to my little area where I do my palm readings! Its a very comfortable place. Its in the heart of France in the Epcot section!"
Esmeralda was always taught to take care of her elders. Even if they weren't her own family. She still tried her best into helping those around her who couldn't move very well. During her time here; she helped little old people until a cast member could come with help, or at least a wheel chair for them. Esmeralda smiled upon Coco as she thanked her for her help. "You're welcome. I'm so excited into show you my new place! I do hope you'll come visit when you can" she said smiling keeping where she was.
Once Coco mentioned she was alright, she said nothing for several moments. Silence was with her and she watched passerbyes and she watched young children. A light laugh escaped her as a young one tried to come over to pet her goat. But, the parent was worried about it. She understood that parents were cautious with a young woman that dressed up as a gypsy with a real goat was scary sometimes. She had seen it in Paris every now and then.
During their walk; Esmeralda looked about her surroundings. "Have you been busy with anything lately? Do you have a shop of your own as well? I know your family owns the shoe shop but do you have anything to do here? Like on your own?" she asked tilting her head for a moment as they walked. Soon they arrived to the Paris portion of Epcot Center. "Here's my little home away from home" she said softly. The little shack had a purple with gold stars around; and a crystal ball. Not real crystal of course that would be expensive. She also had two chairs across from one another.

"You're welcome. I'm so excited into show you my new place! I do hope you'll come visit when you can"
"Of course! I'd love to!", Coco assured, "And I can't wait to see it myself!". She watched as a small child rushed up to pet Djali, much to the concern of the parents. She understood the concern from both sides. Mamá had often been protective, and not allowed Coco to pet every stray she came across, growing up; and she'd only fully understood the concern once she'd had Victoria and Elena to watch out for herself.
"Have you been busy with anything lately? Do you have a shop of your own as well? I know your family owns the shoe shop but do you have anything to do here? Like on your own?"
"Oh yes! I've found plenty to do myself", Coco answered brightly, with a smile. "Even just helping Mamá with her shop, as I did before, when we were both alive, and all of us in the family helping with the shop that is really all of ours is the point", she explained, before going into some of the more personal hobby sorts of things she did.
"And I help my Papá with his playing where I can, though I don't play an instrument myself, but by singing or dancing; or helping my great-granddaughter find fiddle and violin music she can practice learning and which we can both dance to. We looked up some great Celtic fiddle music this past March, for both the music and dance steps". It had also just been a nice bonding moment with Rosa as she took in the notes and they both danced.
They arrived at Esmeralda's tent. "Oh my, how lovely!", Coco smiled, and stepped through into the tent, looking around. "It's very nice, did you decorate it yourself", she asked.
During their walk; she looked upon Coco as she spoke to her. A small smile appeared upon Esmeralda's face as they walked side by side. A few children waved at Esmeralda and she waved back. She looked over at her again when she began to speak to her about being fairly busy. A small smile appeared upon her face. "That's good that you're keeping busy Mama Coco. Its always good to keep busy. No matter where you are. It makes the day and time go by faster. " she said smiling keeping where she was. She said nothing as they approached the tent. The gypsy looked at Coco again as she spoke about her father and her granddaughter. It was good she was helping them.
"Ta-da!" she said happily as they arrived the tent. She grinned proudly and she chuckled a bit more looking at the elderly skellington. "I had a few help from the cast members. I did put my own touch on it though to make it more homey feeling and welcoming." she said smiling keeping where she was. Silence was with her once more and she looked around then back at her. "Your father seems rather interesting. I would like to spend some time with him as well, and not in the shop!" she said chuckling.
Esmeralda sat down on her seat for a moment and she looked at her once more. "Shall we continue our walk and find something to eat? Are you hungry at all?" she asked with a slight bit of concern in her voice. Esmeralda looked down then noticed a few people wanting to form a line for their hands to be read. "Oh! No, I'm so sorry. I'm not open today. But I will be here tomorrow at 10am-7pm" she said smiling. "Come back then!" she said smiling to the patrons, and she looked at Coco again.
