"Are ye sure...", Hamish craned around to inspect the set up they had. Hubert nodded. Yes, this would work! With a shrug, Hamish went with it. The three had tried this very trick multiple times before since Merida had showed it to them, with more successes than failures, and the set up was fairly simple. No reason to think it wouldn't work now.
The bow, like back home, and big enough to try this on had been an extremely lucky find! Though they didn't really have names for all of their various schemes, the boys had then instituted Injury Distraction, as it could be called, which consisted of Harris pretending to ram into a shelf and crying and complaining like he was injured so that he drew attention away and Hamish and Hubert could grab the bow and make off with it.
Payment was still a foreign concept to the five year-olds.
It usually worked. Even if the Cast Members were on to them and knew who they were (and the trouble they were likely to cause) no one could just ignore a child making a scene, and not in the Happiest Place on Earth.
With the bow now securely in their grips, Hubert planted it in the dirt of one of the nearby potted plants and steadied it, aimed at the cart just up ahead. Harris pulled the string back, with Hamish in the place of the arrow and launched his brother at the cart! It didn't go as smoothly as it did with Maudie, and there was a lot of clattering as Hamish flew behind the cart and grabbed up what he could.
"Hey! What!", the vendor craned around at the commotion, and little boy already rushing off with an arm full of pretzels even as Hubert and Harris rushed over to help.
As they made their get away, though, Hamish tripped on something, and he and all of the pretzels went flying. Standing up, he dusted himself off and spotted what it had been. Something shiny! "Hey, wa's this?", he picked up the lamp.
"Lemme' see!", Harris tried to grab the tip and Hubert tried to see if the lid came off. So, they were possibly all three rubbing the lamp, and perhaps causing a new rule never pondered before for once they met the occupant...
