Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's Heather, and I wished upon a star from Bing. My other imaginary friends include Darkwing Duck and Janja. Lightning and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Lightning Bennett
Age: 4 years old
Species: A Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Birthplace: Los Angeles, California
Movie: 101 Dalmatians 2
Custom title: Deceptively Cute
Why'd you pick this character? Well, for one thing I really enjoyed 101 Dalmatians 2 quite a bit and out of all the characters Lil' Lightning and Lars stood out to me the most. I went with Lightning mainly because I felt so bad for him. The way Thunderbolt mistreated him was just plain wrong. Plus I feel like I'd have more fun with him then with Lars and I love his voice actor. Also even though I never had one myself, I just love Corgis. They're so cute!
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description:
As a dog, Lightning is covered in fur of the light orange variety. He has a darker orange fur around his eyes, a white underbelly and white paws. Additionally, the fur around his muzzle and forehead are also white.
In physical appearance, Lightning has the medium length, double coat of the Pembroke Welish Corgi. His fur is really soft and kept well-groomed by his trainers.
Facial description/mood/expressions:
Lightning has a wide range of facial expressions and mannerisms. Back when he was still Thunderbolt's loyal sidekick, Lightning both during acting mode and off camera always had a friendly look on his face since that's usually what his script called for. He would wear a sincere smile and be ever so helpful. For the longest time it seemed he didn't have a single evil bone in his whole body.
But that was before everything changed for the worse... And as a direct result, Lightning also changed for the worse! He became quite the little sneaky schemer who was always secretly plotting. He became two-faced and started a facade! As part of his new facade he would continue to act cordial, pleasant and nice to those around him, but on the inside his mind was busily plotting. And being a professional actor only made fooling everyone around him all the easier. In the public eye his facial expressions appeared genuinely kind and friendly as always while behind closed doors and alone his facial expressions make him look like a mischievous trickster.
Clothing style:
Lightning usually only wears his blue leather collar with his license in the shape of a lightning bolt. However, as an actor he will gladly wear anything that the script and his role calls for even if it's humiliating. He won't like it if it's humiliating, but he'll reluctantly go along with it anyway since it's his job. Outside acting, however, he's just content wearing his collar and maybe a dog sweater for when it's cold out.
Body build:
Lightning is a relatively short dog with matching short legs. Despite his small size, Lightning true to his name is pretty fast. His ears are very tall and pointy making it all the easier for him to pick up on sounds much too low for humans to hear. Well-groomed and thanks to all of his training and exercises, Lightning is in pretty good shape. Furthermore, the small dog is able to use his small body to his advantage by squeezing himself into places much too small and tight for larger dogs to fit into; which helped him get his part on Thunderbolt's show. Unlike many Corgis, Lightning was able to keep his tail at full length.
Any unique traits (optional):
Unlike many of his fellow Corgis, Lightning's tail wasn't docked. Also following his "arrest" the dog pound employees added a prisoner identification tag to his collar. The number they gave him was A113.
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
Originally, Lightning was a really nice and friendly dog. Brave, noble, loyal he was always eager to help others especially his co-star and best friend, Thunderbolt. Back then he was trustworthy, selfless, and always cordial. For the longest time it seemed he didn't have a single evil bone in his whole body. But that was before everything including Thunderbolt changed for the worse...
For some strange, unexplained reason Thunderbolt started becoming mean, rude, and disrespectful towards him. Oh Lightning tolerated the German Shepherd's new high and mighty, arrogant attitude for the longest time. But one day, Thunderbolt's unpleasant behavior drove the little Corgi over the edge. Finally, Lightning had just about enough of his more popular co-star hogging the limelight and all the attention and decided to do something about it! And as a direct result, Lightning also changed for the worse! He became quite the little sneaky schemer who was always secretly plotting. He became two-faced and started a facade! As part of his new facade he would continue to act cordial, pleasant and nice to those around him, but on the inside his mind remained busy plotting. And being a professional actor only made fooling everyone around him all the easier.
But his newfound deceit and compulsive lying came at a high cost. Lightning soon found that being truthful about anything gradually became more and more difficult with each new lie he tells. In the end, Lightning became the one thing his character on Thunderbolt's T.V show once sought to help Thunderbolt destroy: the villain. All thanks to Thunderbolt's own bad attitude Lightning became a compulsive liar, manipulative, sneaky, devious, deceptively cute, envious of Thunderbolt and anyone else he perceives as more popular than himself, bitter, two-faced, overconfident, ambitious, and a cunning trickster. He also became very ambitious in that he will stop at nothing to repair his ruined reputation and become a famous actor once more adored by many fans! The little corgi easily represents the sin of envy!
Furthermore, Lightning is deceptively cute! He's cute and he knows it! Rather than be ashamed, Lightning prefers to use his cuteness to his advantage. One of his favorite things to do is to endear himself to others by acting super cute and pitiful with the hopes of gaining their sympathy. The adorable little corgi soon discovered his cuteness was no match for most people!
If any good came out of this: it is that Lightning serves as warning to all heroes out there not to do or say anything that just might potentially create yourself a powerful enemy because if you do you just might get one! Words hurt and Lightning is a constant reminder of the damage they can cause.
History:
Lightning was born to a pair of pure blooded corgis. His father was a brown furred corgi named, Flash while his mother was a light orange corgi named, June. Physically, Lightning took after his mother. He was also the youngest and the smallest of their pups. He was named that mainly because one of the human children, the youngest daughter, wanted to name him that and so they did even though the girl's parents did not think the name fit him. The corgi family belonged to a kind human family that consisted of a gruff, but well-meaning lawyer, Leon Bennett, his kind and fair wife, a little girl, and a teenaged son.
But even being born to such a kind and understanding family, being the runt of the litter and the youngest Lightning wasn't without his problems. Newborn Lightning was born weak and sickly due to being born so much smaller than his siblings and so extra care and attention was given to him by both his parents and human family earned him some envy from his siblings. There was even some talk from the local vet that Lightning was so weak and sickly that he wasn't going to make it and should just be put down. And the lawyer might have were it not for his two children who loved and adored Lightning insisting that they at least try to make the runt as big and strong as his siblings and the lawyer wanting to be fair agreed. The family's combined efforts of getting Lightning strong and healthy did not go in vain for one day Lightning proved the local vet wrong by becoming just as active, playful, and healthy as his older siblings.
As soon as he was able, Lightning would play with his owners and tag along with his siblings. And eventually even his siblings started to come around and allowed their young brother to tag along with them on their adventures. No longer did they see him as an annoyance, but as a fellow playmate. So puppy Lightning and his siblings would happily run off playing together!
One day when June and Flash's puppies were big enough to find homes of their own, Leon put them up for sale. One by one, Lightning and his parents watched as his siblings were bought away by happy children and pretty soon only Lightning remained. The family had hoped to find him a new home too, but apparently the city still thought Lightning too small to be of much use and so after giving it a few more days with no success, the family decided to keep Lightning much to the delight of the whole family. Both Lightning's parents and their human family kept his strength up by vigorous training and play.
Then one day, the family learned they were holding auditions for dogs to star in the latest Kanine Krunchies dog food commercial. The kids wondering if Lightning would have a chance begged their parents to let them take Lightning to the audition and so the parents accompanied their children and Lightning to the audition. While the kids were excited the parents remained skeptical of Lightning's chances and the fact that many dogs were competing for the role certainly didn't help. However, Lightning was determined to make his kids happy and get the role and prove all the naysayers wrong! The line to audition was a long one and by the time it was puppy Lightning's turn to show his stuff the director was starting to tire of seeing dogs. Still, even at his young age Lightning already knew what the humans wanted and that was cute baby animals! Taking advantage of how the humans saw him, Lightning endeared himself to the director by acting super cute. During his audition he sat up barking cutely with his big puppy dog eyes. The director ate it up and declared the young pup perfect for the role. After that, Lightning starred in several dog food commercials using his cuteness to help sell the popular dog food brand, Kanine Krunchies to paying consumers.
With his popularity on the rise, it was no surprise that when he got a little bit older he cameoed in a couple of movies. As a young adult dog thanks to his increasing popularity as an actor, Lightning got his big break to audition as the latest Thunderbolt's sidekick. Lightning knew all about Thunderbolt and even the past Thunderbolts because he was something of a fan. He enjoyed their shows and films and so upon learning his owners were taking him to audition for the role as Thunderbolt's sidekick he was overcome with both joy and nerves. He was as they say, nervouscited! In fact, he was a total nervous wreck! He didn't want to screw up his chances and waste everybody's time nor did he want to look like a bumbling buffoon in front of his hero. Luckily for him, despite being clearly nervouscited, Lightning made it through his audition mostly unscathed and much to his delight he got the part!
As Thunderbolt's loyal sidekick in his show, The Thunderbolt Adventure Hour, Lightning became even more famous. The two made many episodes together and they even ended up becoming good friends with Thunderbolt referring to Lightning as his little buddy. During this time, Lightning looked up to Thunderbolt thinking him pretty great even coming up to him for acting advice. Already he had ambitions to become one of the best actors in the canine world. And being Lightning's friend and wanting to be helpful, Thunderbolt tried to give his smaller costar as much advice as he could.
But all of this changed one Fateful day when the duo's friendship was put to the ultimate test! It all started with a simple party. One evening Thunderbolt was hosting a party and all the animal actors were invited! Naturally, Lightning thought that included him! Sadly though along his way to the party he is approached by a couple of dogs who inform him that Thunderbolt doesn't want to associate himself with such lowly sidekicks at his party. Lightning didn't want to believe their cruel words at first, but he didn't want to go where he wasn't wanted and those cruel dogs clearly didn't want him around. Prior to their harsh words, Lightning saw nothing wrong with his role as Thunderbolt's sidekick. In fact, he had a real sense of pride in his work. But now after those dogs made it seem like being a sidekick was a bad thing, the little corgi wasn't so sure. So feeling dejected and unappreciated, Lightning returned to his trailer to mope and stew in his anger.
The next morning, the corgi was crudely woken up by Thunderbolt coming to see him. Thunderbolt wanted to know why he didn't show up to the party pointing out all the fun he missed. An annoyed Lightning informed him of the mean, hurtful things some of the other guests said about sidekicks and how he had been told that the German Shepherd did not wish to associate himself with such any longer. Thunderbolt assured his little buddy that it simply wasn't true and that he would have to have a little word with those guests. Still upset, Lightning decided that he would give his hero the benefit of a doubt. So forgiving one another the two remained friends at least for the moment. Unfortunately, the test didn't end there and so similar incidents followed. Always they ended in some kind of disastrous misunderstanding between the two and always they ended with Thunderbolt trying to explain to Lightning how it wasn't his idea to make him feel left out. Eventually though the corgi's faith in his co-star began to crumble. No longer did he believed the German Shepherd's excuses and lies.
Meanwhile, Thunderbolt really didn't help his case any by becoming an arrogant jerk allowing all his fame to go to his head. What's more he began to mistreat his costar by patronizing him every chance he got. Still, Lightning tolerated it long enough for them to make episodes together for the show.
One day, the director decided he wanted to shoot some Thunderbolt Adventure Hour episodes all the way in London proclaiming he wanted to take the show in a whole new direction. Lightning's family sadly couldn't make it, but were convinced by the director to let them take Lightning with the promise that they won't be gone long as well as promising the family a lot of money.
Once in London, the director announced that they would be holding auditions for a new dog to show up in a guest role in the show. Lightning appeared on stage with Thunderbolt and seeing female dog fans tried to flirt with them only to be rudely rejected much to his dismay in favor of the larger, more heroic looking German Shepherd who condescendingly informed him that nobody wants a lowly sidekick, a big mistake on Thunderbolt's part. His cruel words only confirmed Lightning's earlier suspicions to be true. And so with Lightning's faith and trust in Thunderbolt now completely shattered, a resentful Lightning finally decided that something had to be done about his former hero! He needed to learn a lesson and Lightning was only too happy to assume the role of teacher!
Later that day, Lightning visited Thunderbolt at his trailer where he tricked him into thinking that the auditions were really all about replacing him with a new, younger dog. That the writers were planning on having Thunderbolt die in the next episode only to never return not even for a cameo in the remake. Believing Lightning's lies, Thunderbolt understandably began to freak out until Lightning made the "suggestion" that Thunderbolt leave the set to go out and do real hero work to prove himself irreplaceable to the writers. Believing his sidekick's lies, Thunderbolt left the T.V set to run amok with a Dalmatian pup called, Patch.
With Thunderbolt gone out doing what he believed to be hero stuff, the director was left without his main star and unable to find the German Shepherd understandably began to freak out! That is until Lightning pointed him in an all new direction towards himself by giving the director his picture. With Lightning's picture the director got the idea to replace Thunderbolt with Lightning in the hero role. Alone in his trailer, Lightning gloated to a stuffed toy of Thunderbolt about how he's successfully took over the real Thunderbolt's show and with his newfound fame nobody will ever disrespect him again!
Later that evening, news of the famous Dalmatian puppies being once again stolen by Cruella reached Lightning's ears. Further, he also learned that Thunderbolt was on his way to the villain's hideout to save them. Fearing what consequences of Thunderbolt's success will have on him, Lightning plotted to stop him using any means necessary! Using his speed, Lightning managed to meet them there before any rescuing was done. Once on the hideout's rooftop, Patch revealed his plan to use stealth to rescue his siblings from Cruella by using a specific episode from Thunderbolt's show as a reference. Lightning realized such a clever plan might have a high chance of success. Naturally he had to put an end to that! And so he "suggested" that they instead openly attack the villains instead; which predictably ended in Thunderbolt and Patch's capture.
Once the villains were fast asleep, Lightning showed back up to gloat admitting to them how he tricked Thunderbolt to leave the set, so that he could take over the shepherd's show while he was gone! He even informed Patch that Thunderbolt is nothing but a fraud who doesn't care about anybody else, but himself and that he only wanted to get his name in the paper. And with that, Lightning left them to their fate laughing evilly.
Lightning had no idea that the puppies and Thunderbolt were going to escape nor did he see what happened next coming! The director was in the middle of shooting a very important scene for the Lil' Lightning Show when a large double decker bus came flying towards him and his human costar. Unable to get out of the way in time, the little corgi found himself smacked against the bus' windshield and hanging on for dear life. Soon the bus ended up in an alley headed straight for a brick wall. Thankfully, the bus stopped mere inches from impact. Having become so close to being smashed, Lightning fainted and slid off the bus.
Lightning, eventually, emerged from underneath the bus in time to watch Thunderbolt fight Cruella and her minions. To Lightning's horror Cruella tried to kill Thunderbolt with a crowbar only to hit Horace and Jasper instead. Afterwards, Thunderbolt acted like he's about to die tricking both the human villains and Lightning. Feeling guilty and remorseful, Lightning burst into tears telling him, "good night, sweet prince." Thunderbolt then dropped his act by licking Lightning's face before escaping with Patch. Patch then put the bus in reverse causing it to roll towards the villains. Noticing it right away, Lightning ran for his life as did Cruella and her minions. The bus chased them all the way into the river.
While, the police showed up in time to arrest Horace, Jasper, and Cruella, Lightning found himself being forcibly dragged out of the river by police dogs who then released him into the custody of the human dog catchers who took him to the pound. Once at the pound, the employees stuck an identification number ID tag on his collar labeled, A113. He was then made to share a cell with homeless street dogs. He hated it! They were smelly and unkempt. Plus they liked teasing him for being a pet and a washed up actor.
Unable to take much more of pound life and the street dogs' dumb jokes, Lightning managed to escape from the pound employees one day. During one of their daily walks, Lightning managed to break loose from his handlers and gave them the slip. Using his small size to his advantage, the little corgi managed to squeeze his body underneath a gap under the pound yard's fence. He then ran as fast as his little short legs could carry him even with the dog catchers hot on his trail. Lightning finally managed to give them the slip by ducking into an alley and hid behind a dumpster. Only once the coast was clear did he emerge only to find to his amazement and confusion that he was no longer in London. At least he didn't think so considering how different his surroundings now looked. He didn't know it at first, but Lightning soon found himself in the middle of Walt Disney World, a magical place where nobody has even heard of him! This suited the corgi just fine as it gave him a chance to start his life anew. A chance to start over fresh only this time nobody was going to mess it up for him!

Dislikes:
Being mistreated and unappreciated, feeling used, Thunderbolt being more popular and getting all of the fame, glory, and attention, Patch replacing him on the show as Thunderbolt's new sidekick, failure, being "arrested" and thrown in the pound where he is forced to share his cell with smelly ownerless, homeless street dogs, street dogs since he views himself as superior, chasing cats and other animals since he views himself as above such "peasant" behavior and will only do so if he is acting and the script calls for it, being interrupted, anybody who isn't a big shot movie producer or director trying to give him orders, anybody trying to interfere with his plans, being made to take responsibility for his actions, being made to wear embarrassing clothes, and nosy people who ask way too many questions.

Anything to add?:
Interestingly, he has every single one of Thunderbolt's episodes memorized by heart! And he personally finds it both all kinds of sad and odd that Thunderbolt himself doesn't since it is after all his show.
