"AHHH!! That's it! I'm outta here! Al and Jasmine can take it from here! Geez, I need VACATION from this hero stuff! It's like they chase after the danger! Who does that?! Besides, I DID my time! I'm puttin' in my hours!" The talkative red lory from Agrabah was rambling to himself as he flew in the sky, convincing himself that it was okay to leave Aladdin and Jasmine to fixing the trouble on their own in order to quiet his own guilt, a guilt he'd never admit to having. Let the heroes do the hero work! There was nothing wrong with that! "Yeah! It's about time I get a little ME time!" The spoiled palace parrot spoke as if he hardly ever had "me" time. "In fact, I'm WAY OVER-AWK!!" Just before Iago could say that he was way overdue for a vacation, he flew into what felt like a wall and fell down atop of the roof of a building.
When he woke up, Iago tried to shake his head from the dizzying mouse shapes that circled his head. "Where am I?" He blinked his yellow eyes widened upon noticing the change in scenery, then peered down below from atop of the building. "What the heck?! How the heck did I wind up in this mess?!" The Red Lory blinked and felt his jaw drop upon noticing that the environment was suddenly wayyy different than the arid desert climate of Agrabah. In fact, the parrot distinctly felt humidity set upon his feathers and by the looks of the clouds, it seemed to be nearly the same kind of weather as the rain forest, except there weren't a lot of trees anywhere - which was a relief. Instead of trees, he saw a lot of buildings with the exception of a shop that looked kind of like the bazaar back home in Agrabah. Hovering over some place to land so that he could catch his breath from flying, he landed on a sign that read: Aloha Isle. "What IS this place?!" Iago was beyond bewildered at the crowds of people coming and going from the shops and the sound of music coming from some nearby bush. He couldn't have traveled this far without knowing. He could barely fly out a mile without being tired. Suddenly, something caught his eye. Flying carpets flying around in giant lamp?! "Wait a minute. Get a load of this! These magic carpets are flying in circles?! And people are OKAY with this? This place is NUTS! Who comes up with this stuff?!" He shuddered to think that this could have been any of the magical villains that he had encountered in their adventures, like Mirage for alternating reality. "Nah, Mirage couldn't have cooked this up. It's too... nice!" Iago mused to himself reassuringly, eyeing the smiling faces of the crowd everywhere, knowing that even someone like Jafar Junior, or Mozenrath, wouldn't be behind something like this. They'd be too bent on making everyone miserable in this place.
"Maybe this is all just a dream!" Iago finally reached that conclusion after trying to figure out how all of this happened. "Geez, if I dream this up, I should lay off the grapes for a while! They might've been out in the sun too long.." He muttered his thoughts aloud to himself, thinking that he was obviously eating fermented grapes that caused him to dream these wacky dreams.
"Oh wow, look up there! It's that bird from Aladdin!"
Bird from Aladdin? Iago cocked a black eyebrow as he leaned over on his perched position to find some kids pointing at him from below. How did they know about Aladdin? And how did they know he was even associated with him? His eyebrows narrowed, however upon being referred to as Bird from Aladdin and not his name. If they knew that much about him, then they should have known his name. "Bird from Aladdin? Oh, sure! Way to keep it simple, genius! So what're you supposed to be, the Kid From ADIDAS? What kind of name is that?!" He mocked, reading the boy's hat atop of his head, then proceeded to knock atop of the boy's head with a feathered wing, "HELLOO??!! Anyone in there?! This "Bird From Aladdin" has. a. name!!!" He pronounced his last words slowly as if he were talking to an idiot, his tone filled to the brim with sarcasm.
"It's Iago!" Another kid exclaimed.
Iago couldn't help but flash an overconfident grin across his beak upon hearing someone say his name and he hovered down to perch on a fence next to them. For some reason, it was the recognition that he took as a token of flattery since not many people gave him that kind of recognition back home. "These people know me like I'm a celebrity here! See? This I like!" Unfortunately, this kind of flattery went right to his head, which was already set upon making his ego inflate, especially when they were asking for autographs. "Sure! I'll sign an autograph, kid!" Suddenly, he didn't miss his home anymore.
He was famous!
That was until kids asked about Aladdin and Jasmine, and his tiny lump of guilt came back on his throat as he thought about how he abandoned them when they needed help the most. "Al and Jasmine? Eh, last time I saw 'em they were.. look, why don't ya just ask the monkey?! I bet he can spill the beans on all the secrets if ya feed him a banana or two! My secrets cost..uh.. 8 pieces of fruit, or a bag of treasure! Either of you got that? No? Then beat it!" He yelled at the kids, to which they left running with a giggle and left with their autograph books in tow.
Watching them from where he remained perched at a distance now, Iago reflected on that crazy experience he just had with kids actually knowing him and who he associated with, a small smile forming on his beak. "Huh.. that was kind of.. fun.. And since it's a dream, I might as well take advantage of the perks!" He grinned fiendishly as he rubbed his feathered wings together at a sneaky plot entered his mind. He was going to take full advantage of the fact that he was not about to suffer the consequences of his actions. "I'll be takin' this!" Iago exclaimed as he swooped down to take a pineapple spear that a person had in their hands and held it in one of his claws. While he was still flapping his wings and hovering, he caught a glimpse at another nearby object that seemed like some kind of shiny piece of jewelry he could sell. "And - ooh! This looks good!" He added gleefully when he snatched the jewelry with his other clawed foot before attempting to fly away in his aim to reach the roof of the building he was on earlier, so that he may enjoy his snatched prizes that he stole for himself. It's not like it mattered. It was all a dream, right?
