Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's Kayube, and I wished upon a star from an ad from Second Chances. My other imaginary friends include nobody yet. Alice and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Alice Kingsleigh
Age: 10
Species: Human
Birthplace: London, England
Movie: Alice in Wonderland
Custom title: Adventurer in Wonderland
Why'd you pick this character? I played Alice once on a different board. Saw this place and thought it looked interesting, and thought I'd bring her back as she is one of my favorite characters.
Character appearance
Hair description: Alice's wavy blonde hair has substantial volume to it, falling well past her shoulders. She tries to keep it neat all the same, usually keeping it down with a headband.
Facial description/mood/expressions: Alice has wide, inquisitive blue eyes, and a youthful face. She tends to be very open with her emotions; while she tries to remain kind and courteous she's not above showing frustration with troublesome people or situations.
Clothing style: Alice dresses in the typical style of a Victorian-era girl. Her clothes tend to look rather simple on the outside, but with petticoats and other such elements to give shape to the outfit, along with aprons overtop. She prefers lighter colors.
Body build: Alice is on the slender side- just enough for her to be able to squeeze through a rabbit hole, for example.
Any unique traits (optional): None
Original character analysis
Personality:
Alice is a highly imaginative girl, often letting her mind wander whenever she's bored. She's largely driven by curiosity, wanting to know more about anything she doesn't understand. She's proud of what knowledge she has, though sometimes acts like she knows more than she really does. She strives to always be polite and courteous, even to those who she dislikes, though there are limits to how much she'll tolerate. She tries to be calm and levelheaded, but has been known to break down and cry in overwhelmingly stressful situations. Despite her relatively privileged upbringing, she has compassion for the underdogs of life, and will stick up for those who are treated unfairly.
History:
Alice was born in London, the second daughter of her family after her elder sister Mathilda. Her mother died from an illness when she was very young, but given the significant gap between their ages, Mathilda was able to essentially take the role of mother to the young Alice- making a particular effort to assist her with her education. Eventually, the kitten Dinah joined the family, quickly growing close to Alice. Her life until then had been ordinary- too much so, in her opinion. She wanted to live in a world where nothing was ordinary. Then, one day, during one of her customary lessons from her sister, Alice found her way into just such a world- following a talking white rabbit down a rabbit hole, she found herself in just the sort of world of nonsense she'd imagined, a place called Wonderland.
As she traveled through Wonderland following the rabbit, she came across a number of strange people and creatures, and had many adventures. She ran in the Caucus Race run by the Dodo, listened to stories from Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, sang with the flowers, and had a tea party with the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. Not all her experiences in Wonderland were pleasant, of course; she frequently found herself changing size, being chased away as a monster or other unwanted thing, or just plain not being helped. Ultimately, Alice decided that she didn't like the idea of a world of nonsense so much after all, and decided to try to get back home. According to the Cheshire Cat, the best way for her to do that would be to head for the castle of the Queen of Hearts, who ruled the land. Unfortunately, this ended up being a bad idea; the Queen was a bad-tempered ruler who frequently ordered beheadings. After several mishaps Alice herself ended up on trial for her life. Alice ran away, but was only truly able to escape when she realized she'd been home all along; she was sleeping at her sister's side and had dreamed the whole thing.
As harrowing as the ordeal had been, and as grateful as she was to be safe with her sister and Dinah, Alice never forgot Wonderland. She concluded that a world that was nothing but nonsense wasn't one she'd want to live in... but maybe she could bring a bit of Wonderland to life in her ordinary world, to make it a bit less ordinary.
Ambitions:
Alice wants to satisfy her curiosity about the world. She would also like to write and illustrate a book about her adventures in Wonderland, as well as possibly create stories of her own.
Strengths & abilities:
Alice's greatest strength is her mind, particularly when it comes to creativity. One could also mention her tendency to change size upon eating or drinking certain substances, but that might only work in Wonderland.
Flaws:
Despite Alice's intelligence, she often acts impulsively, even when she knows better- "I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it" as she says.
Likes:
Alice is a nature-lover, being fond of both flowers and animals. In particular, her cat Dinah is her closest confidant. She also enjoys many kinds of creative works, including art, music, and literature (at least the kinds of literature that suit her interests). In particular, she's fond of fantasy and nonsense stories that take her away from the monotony of normal life. She's also as fond of games as most children tend to be, being familiar with playing cards, croquet, and chess. As for food and drink, she likes sweet foods as well as tea.
Dislikes:
Alice especially dislikes boredom and loneliness, often reacting to such situations by trying to get out of them or finding some way to entertain herself. She also is not fond of overbearing, tyrannical authority figures.
Fears:
Alice fears being lost in the dark, as she once was lost in the woods of Wonderland.
Anything to add?:
Alice arrived alongside her kitten Dinah. When not with Alice, Dinah is usually cared for at the Cheshire Café in Fantasyland. Also, while I decided to go with the live-action movie's last name for Alice, I haven't actually seen that movie and won't be taking it into account here.
RP SAMPLE:
It was the middle of the night, but Alice was awake. She thought she heard a noise in the halls, and got out of bed to investigate, lighting a candle to illuminate her way through the house. It wasn't long before she came across Dinah, who seemed to be peering at a spot on the wall in the hallway. Alice knelt down beside the kitten to get a better look. "Is that... a mouse hole? Oh dear, I didn't think we had mice. At least you should be able to catch them," Alice said, confident in Dinah's ability to chase down any unwanted rodents.
Still, there was certainly something strange about this particular mouse hole. It looked less like one that had been gnawed by an animal and more like one that had been cut out of the wall by a professional. It was shaped oddly too; it looked like a circle with a couple of smaller circles on top. A mouse wouldn't take the time to make space for its ears in its mouse hole, would it? Not only did it look strange, Alice thought she heard faint sounds of music coming from deep within the mouse hole. Before she had much time to ponder these mysteries, Alice saw something even stranger- Dinah was suddenly pulled straight into the mouse hole! Alice quickly got down lower to the ground and looked directly into the hole, but she couldn't see any sign of Dinah, only deep darkness. The music was definitely coming from inside the hole, she thought. At this point, it seemed to Alice that the best idea would be to wake up her father and sister, to see if they could do anything to help. But before she could do any such thing, she felt a tug on her hair. Then, suddenly, Alice herself was being pulled into the tiny hole! She felt her body shrink and stretch, much as it often had in Wonderland. She couldn't see anything, but could hear the music getting closer and closer.
Finally, she landed with a thump in what looked like a giant tea cup. Was the tea cup giant, or was Alice small? It was difficult to get her bearings since the cup was spinning around and around. There were other tea cups too. Thankfully, she could at least see Dinah, who was sitting in the same cup as Alice and looking thoroughly dizzy. Whatever adventure Alice had just embarked on, at least she would have Dinah with her this time.
After the cups stopped spinning, Alice took Dinah in her arms and exited the shaded tent structure that covered the cups. She marveled at her surroundings- there were so many people! It didn't look like Wonderland, but right there on the sign beside the tent was a picture of the Mad Hatter! And then, over there, was a sign of the Cheshire Cat! "I suppose I might be dreaming again, Dinah," Alice said, giving the still-rattled cat some comforting strokes of her fingers. "But whether it is or isn't a dream... I'd really like to look around. Wouldn't you?" Dinah looked back at Alice and seemed skeptical. With her feline companion in tow, Alice headed for the Cheshire Café. She hoped that any advice or directions she got there were better than the kind she got from the establishment's namesake.
