Mowgli wanted to know about Tarzan’s living situation in the park. He really wondered if the ape man did wander from one place to another in the park, just like what the man-cub did before he chose to call the other jungle attraction, the Beastlie Kingdomme, his home in the park. If that was the case for the ape man, then the Indian jungle boy would really like for him to come to the Beastlie Kingdomme with him and live with him there. He wasn’t thinking about the jungle where Tarzan previously lived at the moment.
“You can come and live there with me,” the man-cub said to the ape man. “Spot’s living there, too. He’d be happy to see you. He’s a wild human like you and me.”
Mowgli did find it helpful that Kion explained to Tarzan whom Spot was. This discussion about Spot got the man-cub to imagine Spot, Tarzan, and himself living together in the Beastlie Kingdomme as a family, with Mowgli and Spot being like brothers, and Tarzan being like a father to the boys. Speaking of someone being like a father to him, Mowgli quickly thought of Baloo, his “papa bear” back in the jungle in India, the moment he heard Tarzan say the word “balu”, even though it was completely different from the name of the man-cub’s “papa bear”.
As Mowgli thought about all this, he saw Penny with her scarf wrapped around herself differently. When he saw Penny, though, he saw her as one of his wolf siblings, and he saw Patch and Scamp as a couple more of his wolf siblings. He wouldn’t see the three young canines as anything other than that. Regardless, though, he would be happy to have the three young canines live with him in the Beastlie Kingdomme.
Thinking about others as if they were like family to him made Mowgli think about the fake ape that he, Scamp, Penny, and Patch saw earlier and looking for the real one, who was just revealed by Tarzan to be the latter’s mother named Kala.
“Kala,” Mowgli repeated the name. “So, what is Kala like, Tarzan?”
