Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's MORDO, and I wished upon a star from Returning member. My other characters include None yet. Darkwing Duck and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Drake Mallard aka Darkwing Duck or DW for short
Age: 35
Species: Anthropomorphic Duck
Birthplace: St. Canard
Movie: Darkwing Duck
Custom title: The Terror That Flaps in the Night
Why'd you pick this character? I miss playing him on here. What can I say, I had a lot of fun playing him on here and as such would love to try my hand at playing him again. He's still among my favorite characters in general, that hasn't changed.
Character appearance
Hair description: No hair. Instead as a duck his body is composed entirely of white feathers.
Facial description/mood/expressions: It should be noted that Darkwing considers himself very handsome indeed. His head is shaped differently from most other duck citizens of St. Canard save for one, Negaduck. His head is shaped like his and also like Negaduck he has a rather large beak much to his chagrin. Although due to his vanity he will never openly admit to any of this. Instead, he will complain that certain artists draw his beak way too big. Under his superhero persona, Darkwing's face is hidden behind a purple mask. As Drake Mallard one can see that his eyes are white with black pupils. Being short-tempered, Drake/Darkwing has a tendency to lose his temper and when he does it isn't exactly a pretty sight. While his angry scowl is nowhere near the same level as Negaduck it does cause others including Gosalyn and Launchpad to avoid him while he's angry.
Clothing style: While under his civilian identity, Drake Mallard tends to wear a long-sleeved salmon shirt with a green vest over it without any bottoms nor any shoes. However, he will wear pretty much anything that's casual. He, however, hates dressing up, so won't be caught wearing a suit and tie anytime soon. Whereas under his hero persona, Darkwing Duck, he wears a superhero costume which looks exactly like his evil counterpart's save for a different color scheme. Darkwing's costume consists of a purple trenchcoat over a turquoise turtleneck with a matching purple cape and mask, and a dark grey brimmed fedora. Unfortunately, due to his vanity his cape is rip-proof; which as one can very well imagine doesn't always end well for him.
Body build: Drake/Darkwing is a slender duck with white feathers and is of average stature. He is the exact same height as Negaduck. Furthermore, thanks to all of his intense training, physical conditioning, and daily exercise, he is physically fit and a lot tougher than he looks. This enables him to combat villains a lot larger and stronger than himself such as Taurus Bulba.
Any unique traits: It should be noted that Darkwing only returned to his civilian identity to raise Gosalyn otherwise he'd likely be Darkwing 24/7. That said until Gosalyn shows up in Disney World, he'll probably not use his civilian identity much if at all since he doesn't see any use for it.
Original character analysis
Personality:
Drake Mallard/Darkwing is a complicated individual; much more so than anyone suspects for he is so many things: father, teacher, role model, neighbor, civilian, friend, loving boyfriend to Morgana, protector, hero, savior. Each day, Drake struggles to balance them all; which is no small feat and there are days that he just feels so overwhelmed. Luckily for all of the good, law-abiding citizens of St. Canard, Drake/Darkwing is not one to give up so easily. His heroic persona for the most part is shrouded in mystery since despite all of his heroics very few citizens of St. Canard perceive him as a hero. In fact, most citizens see him as either a criminal, a costumed clown or as a menace to society. For all of his flaws, he is brave, heroic, fearless, and loyal to a fault. Furthermore, even though they sometimes butt heads and don't always get along, Drake truly loves and cares deeply about his adopted daughter, Gosalyn so much so that he'd do anything for her. For her, he re-adopted his civilian identity to give Gosalyn some semblance of normalcy in his otherwise dangerous, daring life otherwise he would have just continued being Darkwing 24/7. He also cares alot about his best friend, loyal sidekick, and pilot extraordinaire, Launchpad even though he still can't stand the pilot's crash landings. He would go to the ends of the Earth to keep Gosalyn and Launchpad out of harm's way. In fact, he would go bat**** crazy should anything bad happen to Gosalyn. Overall, Drake/Darkwing is an all-around, good guy who truly does have the best of intentions.
And as for his negative traits, well... he is, for one thing, a major league arrogant, prideful, self-centered, vain egomaniac who can be inconsiderate of others. In fact, Taurus Bulba, his very first major villain after observing Darkwing for awhile took note of the novice hero's enormous ego; which he described being the size of a small planet. As it turns out this wasn't a gross exaggeration either. Originally, Darkwing took up the mantle of hero for the fame and glory. Sure he also did it to help the police out and out of civic duty. But it wasn't until after hiring Launchpad and adopting Gosalyn that he decided to save the day less for the attention and more out of his desire to make a difference. Additionally, he is impatient and short-tempered. While nowhere near the same level as his evil counterpart, Drake/Darkwing still has the tendency to get mad easily and lose his cool in a stressful situation and it is by no means a pretty sight.
Due to his prideful nature, Darkwing has trouble admitting to others when he is in the wrong. He is also the kind of person who hates asking others for help and even once he realizes he could really use a hand he still hates accepting the help of others. In fact, it sometimes takes a lot of begging and pleading from his allies as well as losing the city to a team of supervillains before he finally sets his pride aside and accept their help. Another glaring flaw of his is that he can get pretty super competitive with just about anyone including his own adopted daughter, Gosalyn and the mechanical superhero, Gizmoduck whom he has a rivalry of sorts with. Darkwing sometimes has this weird tendency to overcomplicate things. For example, instead of simply approaching the warden and warning him of a possible break-in at the supervillain prison he instead disguises himself as a supervillain and gets himself arrested. In another instance, he spots an insignificant breadcrumb deliberately placed there by Negaduck rather than his devilish double's enormous flag standing over a hotel building.
Furthermore, Drake/Darkwing can be best described as a Type A personality type. As Darkwing he can be a major workaholic of sorts when it comes to saving the city from nefarious felons, a perfectionist, and is also a bit overprotective of Gosalyn. He rarely lets her accompany him on his cases out of concern for her safety; which is a good thing. As such when it comes to Gosalyn, Drake strives to be the very best father to her that he can be even going so far as to consult a book for helpful advice. Additionally, he is in love with a certain magical sorceress, Morgana who used to be a criminal until he successfully reformed her. Her being a former criminal isn't always easy for Darkwing since he sometimes has trouble fully trusting her even though he cares deeply about her. However, thanks to Morgana getting onto him, Darkwing now is at least trying to make an effort at trusting reformed criminals though he has promised himself he would still keep a close eye on them at least.
History:
As a kid, Drake was physically weak and skittish, but also intelligent, nice, and already a bit of a comic book nerd making him the perfect target for muscle-bound, pea-brained bullies. They mercilessly picked on him throughout his childhood and even into his teen years. Two bullies in particular just enjoyed giving poor Drake a hard time often calling him Drake the Dweeb simply because he was a bit of a teacher's pet since their teacher entrusted Drake enough to leave him in charge of the class whenever she was absent from the room, the class snitch, and a bit overzealous in playing detective. Meanwhile, his parents tried to help him out by attempting to give him some much needed advice but to no avail. And as for the teachers...forget about it! Either they didn't believe him whenever he tried to inform them of any bullying and other wrongdoings taking place due to his track record for exaggeration or they simply felt he was blowing said situation way out of proportion.
Despite all of the bullying and teasing from his classmates, young Drake had a lot of school spirit and a constant need to help out anyone whenever he could. So he became a hall monitor ended up participating in a lot of after school activities. Either way, young Drake never seemed quite ready to go home and that was because his home life wasn't exactly a bedful of roses. As a child, his parents often confused him. One minute they were overbearing giving him way too much attention practically smothering him and then the next minute they barely paid him any mind. So preferring not to deal with it, young Drake often busied himself with schoolwork. Because of this he tended to do very well in school often receiving high marks on all his schoolwork.
Unfortunately, as a child a cruel classmate of his, Lamont forcibly roped him into joining his older brother's gang of musically inclined criminals. Lamont's older brother who referred to himself as The King was a really bad Elvis impersonator who wanted to rob, pillage, and take over the city of St. Canard. Luckily he was eventually stopped by a very surprising source: Drake's very own future self dressed in a superhero costume and cape not unlike his own favorite comic book hero: Super Pig! Not only that but Drake's future self really helped him out a lot by giving him much needed advice on how to become a real superhero like him and he helped him gain some much needed confidence and bravery. Sadly though as soon as The King and his gang were stopped and arrested his helpful future self disappeared returning to his own time. As an adult, Drake couldn't recall any of this ever having occurred due to not having the greatest of memories. However, he did start remembering some of it once he and Gosalyn accidentally time-traveled to the past and saw his past self getting picked on and harassed by Lamont.
Following the surprising visit from his future self, young Drake became more inspired than ever to become a superhero himself some day when he was good and ready. Drake sometimes feared what all might have happened to him had his future self not saved him. To better help prepare for that day he started learning some very useful, unique skills that will come in handy one day when facing off against St. Canard's most dangerous villains. One thing he did was join the Junior Woodchucks and being the obsessive nerd he was he kept his guidebook well into adulthood keeping it close to him for whenever he needed to look something up real fast. Additionally, he learned various other skills from other family members among them being how to contort his body enabling him to squeeze out of very tight situations.
As for his high school years it was just pretty much more of the same with teenaged Drake studying hard, continuing to learn new skills while dodging the bullies best he could. It was also during this time that he really enjoyed playing detective with the annoying tendency to turn just about anything no matter how insignificant into a case. That and being the class snitch and a bit of a teacher's pet certainly wasn't earning him any popularity points. While most of the class would laugh at his antics; two of his classmates: Ham String and his snooty girlfriend, Preena Lott took a particular interest in bullying him as well as the science nerd, Elmo Sputterspark who later on ends up becoming one of Darkwing's archenemies, Megavolt. During this time, Drake did his best to survive high school as well as his fickle parents with whom he was having a rocky relationship. Already he wanted to graduate high school as soon as possible, so he can leave home and do his own thing.
Next thing he knew it, Prom was happening and as per usual poor Drake couldn't get a date. But as fate would have it his dream of becoming a superhero for real was quickly approaching for little did he know that the school bullies had interfered with one of Elmo's latest science projects forever transforming the once mild-mannered science nerd into the electrical crazed villain, Megavolt. Desiring revenge on his tormentors, Megavolt attacked the prom. Seeing this as his big chance to finally gain the respect and admiration from his peers, Drake tried to stop Megavolt as just himself only to be easily tossed aside. After having a few moments of self-pity, Drake saw his classmates in danger and formulated a plan. He figured rather than trying to stop Megavolt as just himself he would do so in costume as to have the advantage of being taken more seriously. After coming up with the name, Darkwing Duck, Darkwing literally swooped in and saved his classmates from Megavolt and he had been fighting Megavolt ever since.
After graduating high school, Drake eager to see the world and desiring to become a fulltime crimefighter left home. He traveled all of the way to China to study Quack Fu under Master Goose Lee. There, Darkwing learned many moves from him, but sadly failed to get his black belt since he failed to master one of the moves, the belly flop. Still, that didn't stop him from trying to impress his master and earn his approval by fighting crime as Darkwing Duck. Unfortunately for him, Master Lee isn't so easily impressed. Little did Darkwing know that he would one day finally get his chance to both finally earn Lee's respect and at long last get his black belt.
After stopping some bad guys and gaining some small measure of attention, he was approached by the super spy organization, SHUSH with an offer to join them as a freelance agent. Darkwing accepted the offer and in return SHUSH gave him access to all sorts of useful crimefighting gadgets and weaponry to assist him in his crimefighting pursuits. However, it didn't take long for him to butt heads with one of its agents since Darkwing didn't like following their strict rules and procedures the way their other agents did. Luckily SHUSH's leader didn't seem to mind Darkwing's unique way of doing things and allowed him to fight crime the way he wanted to.
Prior to taking down Bulba, Darkwing struggled to make a name for himself. Sure he managed to stop a couple of bad guys here and there, but nobody major or at least nobody worth writing home about. Truth was, very few people noticed him and those who did thought him annoying or a criminal. And what's worse, the media kept drawing his beak all wrong! All he wanted was some amount of attention and respect, but there was barely ever anything written about him in the paper.
Then one cold, lonely night after failing to find any traces of crime, Darkwing finally saw his big chance when a crime practically fell into his lap. It all started when he spotted a suspicious condor carrying a mysterious briefcase. Finding that to be most unusual, Darkwing followed the condor all the way to a train where he recognized the thugs taking over the train and stealing the Waddlemeyer ramrod as the dangerous criminal mastermind's, Taurus Bulba's henchmen. Seeing this as his big chance to get people to take him more seriously as a crimefighter, Darkwing attempted to foil the robbery and capture the bad guys. Unfortunately for him, his enormous ego got in the way enabling the criminals to escape with the ramrod.
Darkwing then ran into an overeager fan, Launchpad who was also a crack pilot that offered to assist Darkwing in the capture of Bulba's thugs. Unfortunately, things didn't go quite as planned and the bad guys once again get away leading a frustrated Darkwing to reject Launchpad's continued offer of help. After doing a little research into what exactly Bulba's men stole, Darkwing correctly deduced that in order to operate the ramrod, Bulba would need the arming code and the only person left alive who might know it was Waddlemeyer's granddaughter, Gosalyn. Further, Bulba's men had prematurely killed Gosalyn's grandfather before they could get the code from him. So realizing that Gosalyn was next on the psychotic villain's hit list, Darkwing managed to get to the orphanage just in time to grab her from Bulba's men. Following a long and dangerous car chase, Darkwing managed to give their persistent pursuers the slip.
After arriving safely at Darkwing's secret hideout, Darkwing and Gosalyn began to bond. Wanting Gosalyn to get some sleep, Gosalyn taught him a lullaby taught to her by her grandfather. After singing it to her it dawned on Darkwing that Gosalyn's lullaby was actually the arming code to activate the ramrod. Not long after, Taurus Bulba lured the caped crimefighter out of hiding by using Morse code. After translating it, Darkwing made the mistake of believing that Taurus wanted to surrender to him. Ignoring Gosalyn's voice of reason, Darkwing angrily stormed out to face Taurus Bulba alone! However, he quickly realized that he had indeed been tricked by the criminal mastermind even moreso once the police show up to apprehend him enabling Taurus to escape.
Trapped in a jail cell, Darkwing was feeling sorry for himself and was pretty close to just giving up; that was until his number one fan, Launchpad showed up to rescue him. Darkwing told Launchpad that Gosalyn's in trouble and that they had to hurry to rescue her from Bulba's fiendish clutches before it was too late. Luckily, Launchpad had the perfect plane for the job; one that he had custom built himself to look like Darkwing's face that he named, the Thunderquack. Using the plane they were able to reach Taurus Bulba. After landing on the rooftop he and Bulba engaged in a fierce battle. In the end, Darkwing and Launchpad saved Gosalyn just before the ramrod exploded. Sadly, both Darkwing and Bulba got caught in the explosion. Everyone believed they both died in the explosion. However, that wasn't exactly the case.
Right after defeating Taurus Bulba, Darkwing resumed his old civilian identity, Drake Mallard and after finding a quiet place to settle, purchased a home. He then returned to the orphanage to adopt Gosalyn who was so happy to see him alive since she thought he had perished along with Bulba in the explosion. After assuring her that nothing can stop him, he along with Launchpad took Gosalyn to their new suburban home to give her a relatively normal home life.
Darkwing continued to fight crime along with Launchpad while balancing being a good father to Gosalyn as Drake. The dynamic duo faced off against all sorts of villains from FOWL to the Fearsome Five.

Flaws:
For a superhero Darkwing can be a real klutz at times. Truth is sometimes he is so hyperfocused on solving a crime that he doesn't always pay close attention to his immediate surroundings; which usually leads to him accidentally tripping over things such as marbles or spilled gumballs. And even though he is an overall good person, Darkwing is known to have an ego the size of a small planet. Not only that but he is also extremely arrogant, prideful, and vain. Additionally, he has the patience of a small child; which is to say none and is a regular hot head. That said, due to his prideful nature Darkwing has trouble admitting to others when he is in the wrong. He is also the kind of person who hates asking others for help and even once he realizes he could really use a hand he still hates accepting the help of others. In fact, it sometimes takes a lot of begging and pleading from his allies as well as being surrounded by multiple supervillains before he finally sets his pride aside and accept their help. Another glaring flaw of his is that he can get pretty super competitive with just about anyone including his own adopted daughter, Gosalyn and the mechanical superhero, Gizmoduck whom he has a rivalry of sorts with. Darkwing can also get a bit overprotective of Gosalyn and can become fairly obsessed with crimefighting.
Likes:
His family and friends, crimefighting, solving crimes the old fashioned way using science and detective work, justice, success, being right, whenever Gosalyn does what she's told (which rarely happens), playing videogames, being in the spotlight, getting attention, media attention, his fans, signing autographs, answering fan mail, showing off, monologuing, and making grand, overly dramatic entrances.
Dislikes:
Criminals, supervillains, crime, evil villainy, innocents being threatened, Gosalyn and Launchpad in danger, losing a game of Whiffle Boy, making mistakes, failure, losing to a villain, not being publicly recognized for his heroics, people mistaking him for a supervillain, Negaduck impersonating him to commit crimes to make him look bad, whenever Gosalyn is disobedient and gets into trouble, messes, being underestimated, being told that he cannot be a real superhero due to his lack of actual super powers, being called a costumed clown, Gizmoduck (sometimes), the Muddlefoots (sometimes), others wanting to help him when he doesn't want it, the cold, artists getting his beak wrong, having to follow SHUSH's rules and procedures, and Launchapd's trademark crash landings.
Fears
Gosalyn getting hurt or worse killed
His greatest enemies discovering his civilian identity
Failing as a hero and as a parent
Becoming the very thing he hates the most: a villain
Being hated by everyone
Anything to add?:
It should be noted that Darkwing has thus far only entrusted four souls with his civilian identity and that includes: Launchpad, Gosalyn, Morgana Macawber, and Honker Muddlefoot. So if you want your character to somehow find him out then feel free to shoot me a PM and we can discuss it.
RP SAMPLE:
It started off as a normal enough day in the St. Canard or at least normal enough. Drake was at home minding his own business engaged in yet another round in his favorite videogame, Whiffle Boy when the doorbell rang. Not wanting to lose yet again, Drake tried to ignore it, but the unwanted visitor insistent he answer it continued to ring it. No longer able to take the loud, obnoxious ringing, Drake finally relented. Quickly putting the game on pause, Drake set down the controller and headed to the door. "Hold on! I'm coming! I'm coming already! Just give me a second," he shouted at the door. Launchpad who was over in the kitchen baking some of his delicious chocolate chip cookies also heard the doorbell ring. "Hm, I wonder who that could be?" Launchpad asked out loud to which Drake just groaned in reply. "LP, that is no mystery. Ten bucks says it's the Muddlefoots," Drake mumbled under his breath just as he reached for the doorknob. Even though he was pretty sure it was indeed his rather annoying neighbors, he prayed he was wrong. Alas, the world seemed eager to torment him for as soon as he opened the door he saw that "as always" his suspicions were correct. "Hiya Drakester! The misses and I were wonderin' if we might by chance be able to borrow your camera, so we can take our annual family photo down by the beach seeing how ours was stolen last night wouldn't you know it," requested Herb while standing in Drake's doorway. "Wow, did I call that one or what!?" Drake said under his breath to no one in particular. "Gee DW, you were right. It is Herb Muddlefoot. Guess I owe you ten bucks, huh?" exclaimed Launchpad, easily impressed by Drake's intuition. Drake just shook his head at Launchpad. Drake's mind then swam with questions. Among them being, why would a criminal go through all of the trouble of breaking into someone's house to only steal a measly camera and nothing else? Just didn't make any logical sense to the seasoned crimefighter.
"Why, Herb a family picture day at the beach? That'll take all day," Drake pointed out, elated at the fact that as soon as they leave for the beach he'll have the rest of the day to himself without their meddling. Herb nodded while entering Drake's house. "Yeah, it sure will! In fact, we'd be there by now had my camera not been stolen." Drake already tired of Herb's claims of grand theft camera just groaned in frustration. "Herb, for the last time your camera was not stolen! You probably just misplaced it! I mean why would any self-respecting thief break into your house only to seal a camera? It just doesn't make any logical sense, Herb!" Herb defeated only sighed. "Yeah, you're probably right. It's just really too bad that it's gone. It was brand new too. Real nice model. An 75X100 with all of the latest trimmings." Drake couldn't believe his ears. He had the exact same camera! "Really Herb? An 75X100? I have the exact same camera!" Drake excitedly exclaimed. "I wonder..." he muttered under his breath. "Alright Herb since we own the same brand of camera and therefore you know how to operate it I see no reason why you couldn't borrow it provided that you return it in one piece when you're done," offered Drake as he headed over to his living room closet. "Gosh Drakester that's right neighborly of you! You're a real life saver! Saved Binkie and me a trip to the local pharmacy." Drake nodded while thinking, 'anything to get rid of the Muddlefoots even if it's just for the day.'
"No problem, Herb! Should just take me a sec to get it out of my closet," Drake informed him as he dug through his closet he found and pulled out a dusty old camera case, a clear sign that he had not used his camera in quite some time. Ignoring the weird looks from Launchpad and Herb, Drake proudly blew the thick layers of dust off. Smiling he popped open the case and proudly held it open for Launchpad and Herb to see only to be met by startled gasps. Drake mistaking their gasps for gasps of admiration or in Herb's case, envy, Drake went on to monologue about how great his camera is. "Yes, yes I know my camera is awesome and shiny just like new. And as you can plainly see Herb is right where I left it because unlike you, I put my things back where I find them. Everything in my home is in its proper place. That and I know this is where my camera is since I hardly ever use it and as I said when I do use it I just put it back so not to lose it," Drake proudly declared. Wondering what Launchpad was trying to tell him, Drake turned to him. "So what were you trying to say?" "Gee Drakester, that is one spiffy case, but it seems to be short one camera," Herb interjected. "Don't be ridiculous Herb, of course there's a..." this time it was Drake who gasped upon finally seeing that his case was empty. "Oh no no where is it!? It couldn't have just got up and walked away!" he excitedly exclaimed as he dove into his closet and started throwing things around as he searched desperately for his precious camera. He had hoped that his camera somehow fell out of its case, but sadly he couldn't find the elusive camera anywhere. "Gee, DW I tried to tell ya!" Launchpad rather uselessly pointed out while Drake continued his search. "Gee Drakester sorry about you losing your camera," Herb compassionately stated. "I didn't lose it!" insisted a flustered Drake. "So it was stolen like mine?" Herb once again repeated much to Drake's chagrin. "No, of course not! It hasn't been stolen and it's not lost! It's just...doesn't seem to be around at the moment. but maybe... Of course! Gosalyn, sweetie can you come down here for a second?" Drake argued before calling his rambunctious daughter down. It was his hope that his little imp of a daughter may know the location of his missing camera.
"Sure thing dad! What's up?" came his sweet daughter's voice accompanied by a speeding hockey puck. Luckily Drake was able to dodge it just in time only for it to hit the back wall. "Score!" shouted Gosalyn happily. "Gee Drakester, hockey in the house? That doesn't seem very safe or good for valuables," Herb advised; which wasn't wanted at all. "Herb, let me handle this." Drake then turned to face his daughter. "How many times must I tell you not to play hockey in the house? You might break something," he practically hissed. "Hm, sixteen times this week, dad! A whole new record! Why?" Gosalyn answered looking rather pleased with herself. "You've been keeping count? Great! I mean nevermind that. We will talk about it later. Right now I need to know, did you by chance borrow my very expensive camera?" Drake asked preferring to get straight to the point. "Ew, that old thing? Of course not! Those old vintage cameras went the way of the dinosaurs, dad! It's all digital these days!" she informed him with her alibi. "Well, I'll have you know little miss that, that old camera is a highly sophisticated piece of equipment and I'll have you know it takes far better photographs than any ole digital camera." "Yeah right. Sure dad." "Well, anyways if you didn't take my camera then who did?" Drake asked scratching his head in confusion. "Dunno. Maybe it was blood sucking aliens or the work of a sludge monster!" "No no no! No aliens and certainly no sludge monsters! And furthermore our cameras were not victims of theft!" Drake was already so done with this. He swore if someone else suggested they were victims of a camera pilferer he was going to lose it.
Just then they were interrupted by Gosalyn turning on the news with the reporter reporting on a strange string of thefts hitting every camera store in town. "Oh I dunno dad. You might want to take a look at this." "A string of missing cameras from stores? How strange. How very odd. How bizarre! The perfect crime for...er for the police to investigate naturally," Drake said catching himself before he said too much just as Herb strolled into the living room. "And I hope they catch the crook that took our cameras. I really do. But, oh look at the time. I really must be going. Got a picture to take, don't you know! Thanks anyway Drakester! But it looks like I'll have to make do with one of those disposable cameras." And with that Herb left much to Drake's relief, so he wouldn't have to come up with another lame excuse to get Herb to leave. "Bye Herb. Do come again," he said waving his nosy neighbor bye. "Not too soon I hope," he added under his breath once he was certain Herb was out of earshot.
"Gee DW, I guess that means you have a case to investigate? Any ideas where to start?" Launchpad asked as he was already sitting himself down in one of the spinning chairs. Smiling Drake nodded. "Correct LP and yes, I do actually," Drake said sitting himself in the other spinning chair. Drake was just about to hit the small statuette of a certain mouse dressed as a detective when his overeager daughter who so clearly thought he'd let her tag along happily jumped in his lap. "Now then let's get... huh? And where do you think you are going little miss?" Drake asked her sternly. "Aw gee dad, I just want to watch you smash the bad guy!" Gosalyn replied grinning mischievously. "Sorry Gos, I don't want you getting hurt. And besides, doesn't a certain young miss have some homework to do, hmmm?" Drake reminded just like any good parent would. "Aw dad, doing homework is nowhere near as fun beating up bad guys to a fine pulp," she pointed out hoping that would be enough to convince him to let her come with. "I know, but I need you to stay here where it's safe. Let Launchpad and me handle the bad guys." "Oh fine," Gosalyn grumbled giving in. Drake smiling kissed her on the forehead and she climbed off his lap. "Love you!" Drake turning to Launchpad pressed down on the statuette. "Now then as I was saying LP, let's get dangerous!" The two then spun into Darkwing's secret hideout.
Once inside his secret lair, Drake quickly changed into his Darkwing costume. "So what's the plan in finding the bad guy?" asked Launchpad. "Simple. We know this particular photogenic felon has a thing for cameras and not just any cameras either. 75X100's, the very same brand Herb and I happen to own er used to own until they were pilfered from right under our very beaks. So all we have to do is find a store that hasn't been hit yet and wait for our odd sneak thief to strike!" "That's brilliant DW, but I guess that's why you're the hero." "Yep, yep," Darkwing said rather proudly as he and Launchpad hopped onto his motorcycle, the Ratcatcher.
The duo then left the secret lair and went in search of the camera thief. They went down the list investigating every store one by one to no avail. The only clues left behind at every crime scene were pieces of broken cameras. "Gee DW, don't you think it strange that the thief not only steals the cameras but smashes them? He sure sounds like a regular psycho to me! How about you?" Launchpad inquired as Darkwing using his magnifying glass took a closer look at the camera fragments on the floor. "It is strange LP, but I don't think our mystery thief is as crazy as you think." "Come again?" asked a confused Launchpad scratching his head. "I think he's looking for something," Darkwing cleverly deduced. "Oh but what could he possibly be looking for in the cameras other than film? I was thinking that he just didn't like the brand," asked Launchpad still scratching his head. "I don't know, but whatever it is it must be very important to our camera pilferer. I have a feeling we are about to find out at our next stop. There's only one store left on our list. Let's go before our thief gets there!"
The two left the store and rushed off to the next one. Darkwing slowed down the Ratcatcher and stopped in front of it. He spotted a figure sneaking around inside the store. "Looks like we got here just in time too! There goes the thief! Come on LP, we'll cut him off!" The duo split up.
The mysterious thief was already helping himself to the cameras when a puff of blue smoke filled the room. "I am the terror that flaps in the night! I am the burnt out bulb that you just can't reach! I am the flash that blinds you! I am Darkwing Duck!" Darkwing announced rather dramatically as usual. Recognizing Darkwing the thief just groaned. "Oh, great not you again!" Darkwing himself gasped upon recognizing the thief as the psychotic telepathic cat, Psyman. "What? Psyman? Just what are you planning on doing with all of those cameras? And how are you even here? I thought you were still in prison for threatening the mayor?" Darkwing demanded. "Ha! Wouldn't you like to know Dimwing!" Psyman teased. "Yes, I would. Hey, the name's Darkwing! Not Dimwing! Darkwing!" a frustrated Darkwing hissed. "But Dimwing fits you so much better! No? Well, in that case Psyman psays it's time to have some fun!" With that Psyman's eyes began to glow yellow. Darkwing just rolled his eyes and groaned. Why does he always get stuck fighting pun obsessed villains who say the dumbest, weirdest puns? He bet Gizmoduck never has to deal with such annoying villains cause he's so dang lucky! Having faced Psyman before, Darkwing knew what was coming and he luckily came prepared. "Ha! Nice try you demented furball! But this time I've come dressed for the occasion. Let's see you read my mind this time! Come on, I dare ya!" Darkwing challenged as he stuck an anti mind reading helmet on his head courtesy of SHUSH. "Hey, no fair! That's cheating!" Psyman whined. Darkwing smirked. "No. Not really. Look it up!"
In a bid to turn the tables on Darwking, Psyman grabbed one of the cameras and threatened to smash it to bits. "Oh yeah? Well two can play at that game, duck! You may have stopped me from reading your puny little mind, but you won't stop me from busting open all of these cameras haha!" "Why, just what is it you're looking for you demented felon!?" Darkwing questioned as he aimed his gas gun at the cat burglar before him. Stunned that Darkwing was figuring him out, Psyman took a couple of steps back. "What!? How did you...? Nevermind that duck! I'm afraid you won't be around long enough to discover my secret!" Eyes glowing yellow again, Psyman telekenetically lifted up various nearby objects and threw them at Darkwing. As Darkwing attempted to dodge he tripped over one of the cans thrown at him landing into a television. While still feeling dazed, Darkwing fired his gas gun loaded with super glue at the fleeing cat successfully stopping him in his tracks. Unfortunately, he was so focused in stopping Psyman that he hadn't noticed the television wires acting up around him. Pretty soon the entire store's power started going crazy and the lights began to flicker on and off until all power in the store went out completely causing a citywide blackout. And just like that the masked crimefighter vanished without a trace. Little did anybody realize that the short circuiting television wires had transported Darkwing to the "happiest place on Earth," Disneyworld.
