Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's MAGGIE, and I wished upon a star from I LIVE HERE. My other characters include TRIPLETS ETC. ANTONIO MADRIGAL and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Antonio Madrigal
Age: 5 years old.
Species: Human
Birthplace: Casa Madrigal, Colombia.
Movie: Encanto
Custom title: An Animal Guy
Why'd you pick this character? I'm weak when it comes to kid characters
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description: Curly black hair. Antonio's hair is so short, it sticks up and out, but it is also silky and with good volume, the curls moving with his gestures and nods.
Facial description/mood/expressions: Dark skinned. Antonio has warm brown eyes, a round face, and still chubby cheeks. He often has a smile on his face, except when he is worrying about family destiny and such. Rarely looks all out mischievous, just youthfully excited or enraptured by new experiences.
Clothing style: Small clues as to his gift were perhaps already there, beyond what even Mirabel could see, in that Antonio had already taken to wearing a red bandanna almost in boy scout fashion. Along with this, the rest of his ensemble consists of a yellow vest and yellow tunic. Brown pants and open sided shoes.
Body build: Slim and slight, Antonio is perfectly able to scramble up trees (good thing since it's the main focal point of his room and even if there are stairs) even without his new friends' help. This is mostly due to his young age, and he stands average height for a five year old. It looks likely he'll grow to be slim like his brother and not fill out such as their father has.
Any unique traits (optional): Mainly his ability to speak to animals and understand what they say.
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
Antonio is a kind, fun loving kid. He's a bit introverted, but will step in and step up if it's to help his family. He can also be prone to insecurities, from just the later and also perhaps from his close association with Mirabel and that cementing how fragile the Madrigal gifts can be (though he would be quick to point out growing up with Mirabel in the Nursery was the best thing ever!). He has more confidence now that his family has found a good path. Has a natural leadership ability when it comes to the animals he can communicate with and can easily be firm and lay down the law with them. Around others, as the youngest of his family, he takes their cue. He showed quick Empathy even early on in being one of the few to recognize that Mirabel minded not having a gift, and this quality comes in very handy when dealing with animals.
History:
Born the youngest child of Pepa and Félix, Antonio loved having his siblings, Dolores and Camilo, around, but was moved into the nursery with Mirabel early on since she never got a gift that gave her her own door and room. This caused him to became closer to her growing up, viewing her as another older sister rather than just his cousin, and someone easier to talk to than perhaps even Dolores (or Dolores always already knew what he was going to say or bring up anyway!).
While not known as an all out Mumbler, Antonio could be shy with his words and this was perhaps not worked out of at the table, at least, in that Dolores could vouch and tell what he was saying anyway. She and Mirabel both 'got him' in their own way and Camilo could be counted on to cheer him up.
After he reached the age of Five, it was time for his ceremony which every Madrigal kid had gone through, including Mirabel when it didn't work. This caused Antonio to be anxious about the ceremony and also the prospect of moving out on his own without Mirabel there to guide him.
Despite these worries, he was also caring enough to see how hard it was on her to not have a gift and perhaps now be left alone after he 'moved up', stating he wished she could have a door as well. Her reassurances were perhaps the first clue into how well she understood her whole family, giving him a stuffed jaguar which she had sewn herself and thus hinting to his gift even before his door proclaimed it.
He also wasn't concerned, or not enough to be deterred, with Abuela's even unheard advice that Mirabel should stand aside, bravely enough for him prodding that he needed her to walk him to his door in front of the whole crowd, which she thankfully did. Like everyone before him had, he promised to protect his family with his gift, the magic of the house thankfully working for him, blessing him with the ability to understand animals. First a toucan who then brought his parrot friends, capybara and even a real jaguar!
It seemed like his gift had outdone his cousin and made her little stuffed jaguar obsolete, now that he had a real one he could talk to, but Antonio still kept that one close and cherished it; naming his new jaguar after Guidance since Mirabel had started that off by sending him off with one. He even named the stuffed jaguar Mira, though only tells if anyone asks.
During his celebration (in his room big enough to hold the town and not be cramped!), Mirabel came rushing in, talking about how the house was in danger and cracks were forming. Antonio followed along with everyone else, and yet even though everything seemed fine, he believed his cousin that she saw something even if everyone else quickly dismissed it and Abuela said everything would be alright.
The family getting tenser and tenser over the coming days further proved something was up; then came the disaster of his cousin Isabela's engagement dinner, culminating in Mirabel following some of the cracks and finding their estranged Tío Bruno in the walls, having never left! The rats he kept with him told Antonio all of this and after finding them both he let them use his room so Bruno could conjure another prediction.
It told Mirabel to reconcile with Isabela, an occurrence that ended up good for his other cousin, allowing her to shed some of the pressure she put on herself, but leading to Mirabel and Abuela arguing, the atmosphere further cracking and crumbling their Casita.
Antonio would have searched for his cousin himself, returning the favor of reassuring, but his parents wanted him to stay close after everything. Abuela found her in the end and they reconciled, Mirabel proving her gift (and the real meaning in Tío Bruno's vision) was an insight into the family and helping repair them and alleviate the pressure they were under in the end.
