Mowgli made a choice to split up from the group that he was with back at Tarzan’s Treehouse in Adventureland to find Scamp, knowing that staying exactly where he was and just listening for the young gray canine to make the search easier wouldn’t do anything. He walked around different places in the park, trying to get answers from park guests and cast members about the whereabouts of an ape field, some more helpful than others this time around. The people who were actually helpful to him said that the place to find something like that was the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so he started heading there, with some directions given to him by some of the people he just talked to.
When the man-cub reached the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, he walked through the small structure in the entrance of it and walked down a trail, seeing a lot of big, tall, green plants on the left and right sides of it. There were a few wooden things on one of the sides. As he walked down the trail, he looked closely at the plants for any animals, particularly apes, only to end up finding nothing there. If there were apes anywhere in the attraction, that could only mean that Scamp was there with them. At least, that was what the Indian jungle boy was hoping.
It wasn’t until Mowgli made it to the end of that trail when he saw an animal in the attraction. On his right, there was a monkey that looked completely different from the ones he met in the ancient ruins back in the jungle in India. This monkey was black with long hair on its shoulders and the sides of its face. It wasn’t the animal that the man-cub was looking for, so he knew right away that Scamp wouldn’t be in that particular spot in the attraction.
