Hey, howdy, hey! The name's Sephy, and I wished upon a star from Google. My other characters include Helen Parr, Jack-Jack Parr, Gaston, Iago, Morgan Philip, Pinnochio, Morgana. Luisa and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Luisa Madrigal
Age: 19
Species: Human - Superpowered
Birthplace: La Casita Madrigal in the hidden town of Encanto, Colombia
Movie: Encanto
Custom title: the {STRONG} one
Why'd you pick this character? I relate to this movie a lot as a half Colombian hispanic, but especially with Luisa's desire to be strong for everyone and not letting people see her weak. I've also wanted to rp a teenager, even if she's an older teenager x3
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description: Luisa has brown hair that is also as curly as her little sister, but she has it pulled up into a large bun. She ties a red ribbon around her bun to keep it fastened, with the bow ribbon showing in front of her bun. She also has two small curly hairs in front, one on each side of her face.
Facial description/mood/expressions: Luisa has tan skin and expressive brown eyes underneath her medium sized eyebrows that cannot hide what she feels within, despite how hard she tries to keep her expressions/mood appearing strong and resilient in the smile she wears on her medium sized lips for everyone else. Luisa is often prone to bursting into tears crying when she feels the pressure amounting too high and she hadn't had a break. Although she tries not to appear as nervous as her Tía Pepa, she does have an obvious tic in her eye if she's ever hiding something, particularly due to a concern or worry about her own abilities. On her ears, she wears tiny silverish-white earrings.
Clothing style: Luisa wears a white, short-sleeved blouse that covers her shoulders and half of her broad biceps. She also wears long, flowy, cotton skirt of indigo color with dark purple and pink stripes at the bottom. On her left wrist, she has red and denim felt bracelets and the right, she wears red denim and yellow felt bracelets. At her feet, she also wears dark blue sandals that cover her toes with two dark blue ankle straps that tie around her thick ankles.
Body build: Tall, stocky build with broad muscular shoulders and bulky biceps when she flexes. Along with strong, broad hips, she also seems to have strong, thick legs, as evidenced by her thick strong calves shown beneath her long skirt.
Any unique traits (optional): She has a pleasantly low voice that makes her sound tough/intimidating, but she is capable of having a soft, high pitched voice when she thinks about joy or relaxation.
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
"Who am I if I don't have what it takes?"
Ever since she was 5 years old , Luisa was thrusted with most of the responsibilities and felt that being the strong one for her family and community was her purpose in life. It was fine at first because she saw it as a challenge and loved being helpful, being taught to keep going without stopping because of abuelita's fear of losing the magic of the candle. Because of her dislike of yelling, arguing, or disappointing anyone, Luisa tends to just take abuelita's blows without question or argument, causing her to always say "yes" instead of saying "no." As a result, she'd end up taking more responsibilities and never learning how to relax like her sisters could.
Thus, when her strength began to weaken, she cried the most because she suddenly felt purposeless and helpless, like she lost her identity. For as strong as she tries to be, Luisa struggles to keep her emotions deep inside, especially sadness or nervousness, much like her Tía Pepa. She struggles with her own inner insecurities and how people would feel about her being weak or wanting to just stop for a minute to relax, which causes an insurmountable pressure that makes her feel like she's about to implode like a volcano.
Despite her intimidating presence, Luisa would want nothing more than to relax by doing the things she loves: singing, dancing, wearing something nice, or even playing with cute puppies.
History:
Luisa was born the middle child of her parents, Julietta and Augustin. Although Isabella was the oldest of the three siblings, a heavy amount of responsibility was thrusted onto Luisa since the age of 5, the day she discovered her gift of super strength and durability at her door of la casita Madrigal. From there, it was all "Give it to Luisa, she can handle it." Luisa tried to hold up to both her family's and the town's expectations when she was constantly given all the hard tasks that only her super strength can handle. Although she proudly took these tasks on as a challenge and enjoyed feeling helpful as well as making people happy, including her family, Luisa grew to realize with the amounting work that she didn’t have time to relax like Isabella could. Anytime she remotely felt like having time to herself, maybe even enjoying herself and having fun, her mind would echo Abuela's reminders to keep going without stopping; they must show appreciation by using their given gifts through hard work and dedication in order to help the magical candle sustain Encanto. Luisa was taught to take on all the hard tasks without question so that the candle would continue to burn bright, keeping everyone safe from the violence that transpired between her abuelo and abuelita from el displazamiento that forced them out of their homes in the farmlands 50 years ago.
One day, the 9 year old Luisa heard from the grown ups that Tío Bruno had a vision about the magic. Shortly after her little sister, Mirabel, didn't receive her gift at 5 years old like the rest of her family did, Tío Bruno left, never to return. No one was able to find what was in the vision, and Tío Bruno's room to the tower was considered off-limits. As a result, Luisa grew up not being able to say no to any request given to her, feeling compelled to keep the family afloat by working hard to make sure that nothing would be wrong with the magic. Not having time to even relax, this led to a pressure on Luisa to maintain her identity in town as the strong one, a pressure that was incrementing more and more until the day that her little sister, Mirabel, discovered the cracks during Antonio's celebration of his newfound gift. On that night, Luisa noticed that she felt physically weak, which made her nervous that she wasn’t going to be able to handle all the responsibilities that her family and the townspeople counted on her to do.
Those insecure thoughts plagued her mind the entire night and throughout the next day, causing Luisa's eye to twitch constantly. To make matters worse, Mirabel had been suspecting her of hiding something. Despite Luisa's attempts to brush it off with denials of not being nervous, Mirabel's guilt trip about the candle's magic fading away affected her inner insecurities. Eventually, she was able to reveal the amounting pressure she felt within as the strong one and confessed to Mirabel that she felt weak that night that she saw the cracks after being given a hug. After telling Mirabel that the adults were talking about Bruno's vision on the day that Mirabel did not receive her gift years ago, she decided to take her little sister's advice about not overdoing her workload. Yet when she was finishing picking up all the donkeys to place them in their pen, she suddenly panicked when she felt that they were suddenly heavy again. Afraid that she was losing her powers, Luisa broke into a loud bawling cry as she ran all the way home, briefly explaining what happened to Abuela before bursting into her room to cry some more. In her room, she tried various objects that she would try to pick up, and cry all the more when she would not feel her strength regaining at all. It seemed that she really did lose her magic of super strength! Because super strength was her identity her whole life, being told by abuela that she was the strong one that can handle all the hard tasks, who was she now that she didn't have that strength anymore? Her insecurity of her own identity made her bawl all the more until it was time for Isabella's engagement dinner. Make that during Isabella's engagement dinner when she was asked to fetch the piano and she wasn't able to say no, resorting to crying at how helpless she was to be unable to carry it or push it.
After watching that harsh argument between Mirabel and Abuela when Mirabel stood up to Abuela's high expectations, the cracks spread across their house until it toppled over. Luisa managed to save Abuela as the rest of her family ran out to safety with the exception of her little sister that bravely went after the candle after Isabella and primo Camillo failed to get to it with the loss of their powers. The worst thing was that while the entire house was toppling down, all Luisa could do was just watch helplessly without being able to hold it up and hold it all together. Actually, the worst thing turned out to be when Mirabel suddenly disappeared, but thankfully she showed up again with Abuela and even Tío Bruno, who asked for everyone's forgiveness. Luisa was happy to see the family together again, even finding it touching for her to hear Mirabel say that she was more than just her gift, making her realize that the most important thing was the family being together. Even more touching was watching as the entire town came to help them rebuild their home from scratch, where Luisa worked on accepting help for lifting the heavy work. In the end, Mirabel was given the door knob to insert into the front door, which brought the magic back to the casita along with everyone's powers. And you know what? Luisa finally managed to relax.
