By joining Worlds of Disney, you are agreeing to follow and obey our rules.
Behavior and Conduct
No arguing and no insulting other members. No one wants to read that kind of thing. If you have a problem, work it out like adults or, if you need a mediator, talk to the Admins.
No Spamming whatsoever!
The C box is NOT for role-playing. It is for quick messages between members and/or visitors.
Your admins are Linda (Basil and Walt Disney, though the latter isn't logged in as often), and Cast Member Sage (Elsa). Please refer to any of them if you need any help. They enjoy being asked questions and are more than happy to assist. You may send them a PM, create a thread in the Your Wish Is My Command section, or just give a shout in the C-Box. Other members will be equally glad to help you whenever they can.
Signatures and Banners MUST be no larger than 500x250. If not, the admins will re-size it for you.
YOU MAY ADVERTISE IN THE ADVERTISEMENT BOARD ONLY. You may not link your site on the c-box, send it via PM's, or post an ad in your signature.
Remember, this is Disney, so no sex references or anything above PG rated. PG-13 is allowed only for violence, and don't make it gory, please.
Foul language: There should be no swearing or taking God's name in vain. This includes ooc threads and the c-box. The only swear words used in Disney movies are as follows: Hell, when referring specifically to the place, and jackass, comparing one unfavorably to a donkey. Any words beyond that will be removed or edited.
No slash threads.
We have a 125 word count.
Role-play in THIRD PERSON PAST TENSE. It's like reading Harry Potter. "He said, he ran, he saw, etc." If you don't get it, then try mentally adding the word "yesterday" to the beginning of every sentence.
Don't forget spelling, punctuation, and grammar! Poor grammar makes your threads a chore to read and no fun at all. For a crash course, read the thread Grammar 101 found here: worldsofdisney07.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=peerediting&action=display&thread=7705.
No GODMODDING or POWER-PLAYING! This means you can't control the actions of other people's characters, nor can you read their minds unless you have special telepathic powers. It is better to write, "Gaston aimed a kick at LeFou's backside" and allow LeFou to decide if it connects or not, than to write, "Gaston kicked LeFou in the backside."
You may bring NPC characters into your threads as needed, such as cast members and tourists. But use them sparingly, only AS NEEDED: remember we are interested in your portrayal of established Disney characters, not Joe Average, whom you've invented. If you love to create and play your own characters, there are loads of RP sites that would be thrilled to accommodate you. So, no post can contain more than 2 sentences by NPCs. That is, no more than 2 sentences of NPC dialogue or description of their actions. If you feel your thread deserves special consideration, consult a moderator for permission to go beyond the 2-sentence limit.
The Flashback section of the site is for creating threads about your characters before they appear in the parks. You'll need other characters from the same movie as active members to do so. What if there are no others? Then you'll have to recruit some or skip that section. Sorry.
Going back to the past does not mean you can take on Disney characters you don't control. If you want to explore Aladdin's childhood, you cannot play his dad, as Kassim is a character in Aladdin and the King of Thieves. You could use Al's mom as an NPC, since she hasn't been used by Disney, or have Aladdin interact with other children, neighbors, guards, anyone who is not an established Disney character. As in the above paragraphs, the purpose of this section is to write about the characters you have applied for; any NPC they meet and interact with in the Flashback section should only appear in a supporting role. This is not the place to invent and play your own super-heroes of San Fransokyo, or create a new pride of lions for the Pride Lands.
All the same rules about content, language, etc. apply to posts made in this section. Also keep in mind that you can't change the facts about your character in his or her past. Basil may eventually learn to tolerate cats and children here at Disney, but that won't change who he was before he arrived at the Merriest Place on Earth.
English is our primary language; your character will find he can miraculously speak it while on this forum. All animals that talk in their respective films (Oliver, Bagheera, Tantor) can talk to any humans they meet. If you are a character who speaks another language (Pocahontas, Kida, Stitch), you can add bits of the character's own foreign dialogue. EXCEPTIONS: Tuck and Roll from A Bug's Life speak no English; Tinker Bell and her fairy friends sound like tinkling bells to most other characters, though animals (Tramp, Miss Bianca, Sebastian) and some magical creatures can understand their speech.
All posts made on the Worlds of Disney website are monitored and may be eliminated or modified by admins as they see fit.
One account can play more than one character IF the characters are pretty much inseparable and/or indistinguishable (i.e. The Willie Brothers, Si and Am). If your character has a non-speaking pet (Mickey and Pluto, Basil and Toby, Hercules and Pegasus), you may use one account to play both. Admins' discretion, so please ask, just to be sure.
If you select a character with two different forms, like Pinocchio or Beast, you are free to use either version. But if you plan to switch from, say, wooden to human and back again, you'll need a compelling reason and permission from the admins.
Characters with near-omnipotent power, such as Hades, require special handling; you must convince the admins that you will play such characters so they fit into the plot without ruining it for other members. Expect a discussion before you are accepted.
Pooh characters are all made of plush and Toy Story characters must be used as actual toys, though the characters in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command are not toys. Fish from the Nemo movies are stuck in our water areas, but Mermaid characters have the privilege of receiving "land legs" when they are not in salt water, as seen in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Any Gargoyles not from The Hunchback of Notre Dame must turn to stone during daylight hours. You may use Wreck-It Ralph or TRON characters as human-sized, living beings made of pixellated energy.
You may take Riley Anderson from Inside Out, but you may NOT take on Joy, Anger, Fear, et. al., as they are inside her, parts of her own psyche.
If you have any other odd choice in mind for a character, again, ask your admins for advice and/or permission.
All characters must be Disney. If you aren't sure, please check with the admins first before going through the trouble of an application. No Muppets, Studio Ghibli, Marvel, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Once Upon a Time, or Touchstone (even though most of these are owned by Disney); no Don Bluth or Dreamworks films; no non-Disney video game characters, even if they did appear in Wreck-It Ralph. If you think the character you have in mind merits an exception, ask the admins.
Live-action Disney characters are permitted. However, when a new version is created of an old movie, the original version stands. Live-action versions of established animated characters are NOT permitted. Sorry, but Cinderella on this site will be the 1950's animated version only. Even animated remakes, such as the 2017 version of DuckTales, will not be allowed here.
The characters in Tale Spin, although they have the same names, are NOT the same characters as in The Jungle Book; both Shere Khans may exist as separate characters.
Although we accept Disney Afternoon characters and other TV series that we think mesh well with those shows, live-action TV shows like Hannah Montana, Cheetah Girls, Descendants, etc, are not permitted. Also, no Kingdom Hearts or High School Musical. No Doug, Pepper Ann, Recess, Gravity Falls, Fillmore!, Phineas & Ferb, Jake Long, Proud Family. The TV series that are allowed are: Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Duck Tales (the original), Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Bonkers!, Gargoyles, Mighty Ducks, Aladdin: the Series, Adventures of Tarzan, Hercules: the Series, The Emperor's New School, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Kim Possible, Tangled: the Series, Big Hero 6: the Series, Lilo and Stitch: the Series, and Marsupilami. The 101 Dalmatians TV series would have been allowed if Disney hadn't changed the family's name to Dearly, but we can't have two identical families of 99 pups running around. If you are unsure if your character will be allowed on the site, please contact an admin.
Most Theme Park attraction characters are also permitted, such as, but not limited to Figment, The Redhead, Skippy, Sonny Eclipse, Dreamfinder, and the Hitchhiking Ghosts.
You are allowed to create an unlimited number of characters. To apply for a second, you must have at least 10 in-character posts. To apply for a 3rd, your second character must have 10 IC posts, and so on. Only posts in actual threads count toward that goal: no Q-and-A, discussion topics, C-box chat, etc.
You must make one IC post in each calendar month, or your character could be listed as INACTIVE. This means that these characters will be made available to other RPers who want to take them on and you could lose them without any notice or warning. It's not our goal to be merciless, but if someone expresses a desire to play a character who hasn't posted in the last month, there's a good chance that the inactive RPer will find their account deleted. The admins reserve the right to delete any inactive accounts, solely based on their own discretion. If no one else has taken the character you've lost, you may always re-apply.
We are currently trying a new rule concerning member inactivity. At the beginning of every quarter, threads with no activity during the previous quarter will be sent to the Graveyard unless the admins receive a message asking for their thread to be spared. Threads in the Graveyard can be resurrected upon request.
Members who log in with one of their characters in a calendar month will keep all their characters from being deleted for the next month, but any of their characters who have not posted during that month can be given to another member if that member requests them, at the admin's discretion.
While this rule is being tested, it supersedes the above rule (in blue type).
Because there are very few of these, you may play no more than two A-list princesses and two B-list princesses.
- Snow White
- Sofia the First
- Elena of Avalor
- Tiger Lily
- Nancy (Enchanted)
- Calla (Adventures of the Gummi Bears)
- Mira Nova (Buzz Lightyear of Star Command)
- Mei (Mulan 2)
- Su (Mulan 2)
- Ting-Ting (Mulan 2)
- Dejah Thoris
- Sola (John Carter)
- Tamina (Prince of Persia)
- Wednesday (Lt. Robin Crusoe, USN)
- Clara (The Nutcracker and the Four Realms)
Other heroines and queens do not count against this limit.
No character can succeed all the time. Each character needs to have some weaknesses, to make mistakes, to lose or fail, to have bad things happen to them some of the time. Remember, in the best stories the villain appears to be succeeding until the very end.
Keep your character IN CHARACTER. You must portray characters as they would act in the movie, although there is always room for growth and additional interpretation. Is your character stupid? Sloppy? Brave? Silly? Then play him that way. If you play a villain, don't try to turn him into a hero. Though even villains don't have to be plotting crimes every minute. They can still throw parties, ride the rides, go on dates--just make sure they remain in character.
No OUT-OF-CHARACTER ROMANCES. Your character can not dump his or her significant other from the movie to fall in love with someone new. If you are interested in pursuing a non-canonical romance, choose a character with no true love.
If the character you play owns some unique object (Vanellope's kart, Excalibur, the Great Book of Gummi), you may, in many cases, make your initial appearance with said object. If you really want some object you didn't appear with, never fear! You can find most anything you need to make a good story right in the parks. Is Launchpad looking for a biplane? Try Goofy's Barnstormer. Does Mr. Toad need a motorcar? Head over to Autopia. And movie props galore are stored on the Hollywood Studios backlot just waiting for you to find.
One final rule: have fun!
