Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)[/ul]
Facial description/mood expressions: The professor has green eyes and an overly large nose. Underneath, which lies a large bushy white walrus mustache his covers not only his mouth below it but most of the lower portion of his face.
Clothing style: His clothing style tends to be a dim yellow, short sleeved shirt with a blue bow tie. Also, he wears bright yellow shorts that ends just above his knees and can be seen from time to time in a jacket that matches. Aside from this, he may be seen briefly in a fur toga-like loincloth which covers his chest, and stomach as opposed to Tarzan's. Of course, whenever he wears this, it is only a matter of time before he loses this.
Body build: His body build is out of shape, at best. Skinny arms and legs, it's a wonder he can survive in the jungle at all. Not to mention that his stomach leaves something to be desired, round in shape as it is.

Original character analysis. (Everything must be in your own words! Please be thorough.)[/ul]
The professor is first and foremost a scientist! If everything in the world were known and nothing was left to discover, that wouldn't stop him from trying to find something. It is the thing that drives him and motivates him. He has a passion for knowledge which is unquenchable. Perhaps the only thing he would give it up for would be his daughter and son-in-law.
Jane and Tarzan he values more than his own life. It comes from being a single parent and he is very protective of Jane, though he is not overbearing and wouldn't be even if he possibly could. He is very willing to let her lead her own life as well as others, though he will and always has been there to help guide her along with advice and guidance and would never think twice about dropping whatever he is doing to help find a cure or some scientific solution to a problem any of his family has, which includes the gorillas.
It is clear that Archimedes Q. Porter is a very likeable person and tries to understand other people and where they are coming from. It is seen that during his life in the jungle, except for some freak accidents, his camp in the jungle where he lives and works is largely untouched by the wild animals who make the jungle their home. Of course, it could be due to the protection of Tarzan and the gorillas, but it is also clear that he has made friends with a good population of the animals and earned their respect or at least appealed to their better sense of selves, being able to speak multiple languages of the various animals.
History:
Archimedes Q. Porter was born into a life of wealth and scientific discovery. Which explains his love of it from the beginning. His mother was the typical housewife and his father, a renown professor at Oxford, so growing up he often found himself in the shadow of his father. However, it did not take long for him to stand out by himself. From infancy, it was declared that he was a genius and as he aged, it seemed to prove this more and more. Though he seemed to always be in his father's shadow, it was not due to poor parenthood. His parents lavished him with knowledge and love and affection as all good parents should.
It was in his years as a toddler that he met his true love, not that he knew it at the time. There was much hair-pulling to be had at that age. A little girl, his junior by a few months, was introduced as a play-date by friends of the family, the father of this girl a professor at the esteemed university just as his was. And, despite the pulling of hair (which did not stop for many years, mind you) they grew up together as close friends.
Throughout the awkward childhood years, they stayed friends despite random childhood antics and afterwards, they were forced apart. Elisabeth went to a finishing school, the same one Jane would attend and Archimedes went on to an all-boys high school. They both did quite well in each school and spent their summers together where they began to develop romantic feelings for each other and began dating in a proper English manner.
Soon after high school ended, they were married and she joined him at Oxford, though more being a proper English housewife then a student. However, she was more than capable at helping her husband in his scientific endeavors. And once Archimedes graduated and achieved his Ph.D he took a teaching position at his alma mater and soon began to bolster his already famous name, despite his work being constantly stolen by Dr. Philander, who made several attempts to steal his wife from him, though to no avail.
Nine years passed from their marriage and it turned up quite a nasty shock for Archimedes to find out his wife was pregnant. Of course, the little girl soon became the second love of his life, pushing science down another rung to 3rd. The new parents doted on her and began teaching her everything they could possibly think of.
However, seven years later was when they began expecting yet another child. Joy inevitably followed for the three only to be stricken with sorrow as Elisabeth and the child died in childbirth. It was a dark year for them, but Archimedes eventually saw himself and Jane through that period of grief and became a better father then ever to Jane.
However, over the years, Jane grew up and though they were as close as ever, eventually she hit her teen years and he felt it best all around if she went to the same finishing school her mother did. A sort of way to connect with her through similar experiences. When she came home every summer, they would spend time together and talk about all the things that happened to them over the years. It was to his delight that one year she came home and decided she wanted to be a researcher just as him.
Of course, Oxford did not allow women to obtain degrees, however. Archimedes used some influence to allow an exception to be made in the case of his daughter and it proved to be well deserved as Jane was as natural a scientist as he was.
It wasn't long before he was sitting like the proud parent he was as she graduated with Highest Honors with her Bachelors. Not only that, but she also had been accepted into the doctoral program where they would not only be living together, but working side by side as she pursued the same career as he did. Of course, gorillas were not Archimedes only area of expertise, but they were his scientific passion for many years. That would be what she would be doing her thesis on. And so, within a year's time, they embarked together on their journey to the wild jungles of Africa.
It was there, with their guide, Mr. Clayton, that they soon discovered many of his theories on the gorillas were correct. However, they discovered Tarzan whom no one had been expecting. They taught each other much, but it was no substitute for the real study of live gorillas. Through much encouragement, Tarzan finally agreed to let them meet his family. Their then leader, Kerchak, found them despite the distraction and had to be subdued by Tarzan so the three outside humans may leave. Tarzan decided to leave with Jane, as she had no choice but to leave back home to England.
Once aboard the ship, all three were captured and locked up as Clayton went back to the home of the gorillas to capture them. During this, he delivered the final shot that would eventually kill Kerchak. The humans aboard the ship were saved by Terk and Tantor and Tarzan went to save the rest of his family, eventually killing Clayton.
Archimedes knew that his daughter truly was in love with the jungle man and, though he would miss her, convinced her to stay in the jungle. It didn't take more than a minute before he realized he would miss her too much and decided to stay as well. Besides, how many scientific marvels could be found within this unspoiled world? And so, reestablishing his camp. The professor would spend the rest of his life researching the wonders of the jungle, finding more things on heaven and earth than could be dreamt of in his philosophy and science.
