Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's Mattie, and I wished upon a star from hearing about you all from my friend Sage. My other imaginary friends will hopefully be numerous. Will Turner and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: William Turner Jr.
Age: 24
Species: Human
Birthplace: Glasgow, Scotland
Movie: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest, At World’s End
Custom title: A pirate and a good man
Why: I chose to join as Will because I have played him before in a smaller Pirates of the Caribbean dedicated page. I enjoyed the character a lot then and it seems like the perfect place to start to get back into writing.
Character appearance
Hair description: Will's hair is long, dark brown. It falls just past his shoulders and normally he keeps it tied back in a low ponytail or swept out of his face with a bandanna. He also has a short, neat goatee and mustache.
Facial description/mood/expressions: Will's face is naturally serious, though Elizabeth is always guaranteed to get a smile out of him. His face is sincere and earnest. He has a square face and strong aw with defined cheek bones.
Clothing style: Befitting of a life at sea, Will has come to prefer loose clothes practical on sailing ships in the 1700s. He usually wears a cotton shirt with a low cut vee neck under a leather jacket. He often has several belts slung across his waist and chest.
Body build: Will is just under 6 feet tall with a well-muscled build from long years of working in a forge and then sailing. His arms are especially muscular and suited for sword fighting.
Any unique traits (optional): He has a large scar on his chest, a reminder of his battle with Davy Jones aboard his ship.
Original character analysis
Personality: Will Turner is above all else, loyal to those he cares about. He is generally soft spoken and though he has gained some confidence in himself through his adventures with Jack and Elizabeth, he is still a man of more actions than words. He also possesses a deep dedication to his passions. He is quick witted and a risk taker, willing to protect those he cares about no matter the personal danger.
History: Born in Scotland, Will was raised by his mother on stories of his father the merchant. His only memento was a single gold coin. After her death, he traveled to the colonies, but an attack on his ship by pirates left him floating among the wreckage of the ship. He was rescued and cared for by Elizabeth Swann. Commodore Swann secured Will an apprenticeship with the blacksmith at Port Royal. He trained for years and gained skill both in smithing and sword combat, though as a mere apprentice his master received all of the praise for his accomplishments. One day pirates arrived in Port Royal and Elizabeth was kidnapped. He set out with "Captain" Jack Sparrow to recover her and in the process began learning the truth about his father the pirate and the cursed treasure the crew of the Black Pearl had discovered. After breaking the curse, he returned with Elizabeth to Port Royal where they saved Jack from execution.
A year later, as he and Elizabeth were preparing to marry, their wedding was interrupted and the two of them were arrested but Cutler Beckett. He was told that they would be given immunity if they obtained Jack Sparrow's compass. Jack tricked him into servitude under Davy Jones where he met his father, also in Jones's service. Will later discovered that the East India Trading Company sought the compass to lead them to the heart of Davy Jones to gain control over the ocean and to strike a decisive victory in the war against piracy. Will and Elizabeth teamed up with an old foe, Barbossa to bring Jack Sparrow back from the dead and the unlikely team find Jones's heart.
In a final confrontation, Will and Elizabeth were married during pitched battle with the crew of Davy Jones on his ship. While fighting with Jones, Will was stabbed fatally, and Jack Sparrow forced his unconscious hand to hold the dagger he used to stab Davy Jones's heart. Will gained immortality as long as he remained captain of the Dutchman, but at a terrible cost. He could only be on land for one day every ten years. He spent his day with Elizabeth and returned to sea where he had been sailing as the new captain of the Dutchman for just over a year, ferrying souls lost at sea to the underworld.
Ambitions: Will's greatest ambition is to finish his ten year term on the Dutchman in order to be able to return to his wife Elizabeth. He seeks to build a life for the two of them, wherever that may lead. Though with her newfound sense of adventure, that could be anywhere
Strengths & abilities: Will is an excellent swordfighter and skilled in planning and improvising with difficult situations. He's also gained a lot of experience sailing ships from his i]time with his father on the Dutchman. He has a natural talent for disguise and has enough awareness of socil structures to go unnoticed in most environments.
Flaws: He will blindly take dangerous risks in order to help those he cares about, often detrimentally. He is also extremely trusting and easily fooled by a good lie
Likes: Elizabeth Swann, Jack Sparrow, Bootstrap Bill, Swordfighting, Sailing, Reading
Dislikes: The trouble brought by Jack Sparrow, the EITC, Entitled nobles
Fears: Losing Elizabeth in his long time away from her. Losing his heart.
Anything to add?:
RP SAMPLE:
Will sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, casually bracing a leg against the ships railing as it rocked with a breaking wave. The beach was only a few meters away now and already his first mate was ordering buckets of water hauled up from the water. The captain was headed ashore.
If the package had come from anyone but Jack he would have ignored it. He tried to convince himself the simple wooden box wrapped in parchment might have been from anyone, surely. He could still order them to pull oars and head back to sea. When he'd opened it though, the compass staring up at him spinning, how could he have ignored it? Even without the note he would have known who it was from. It simply said. "You'll thank me later mate."
