"I can't believe you." Shenzi groaned, "We had just ate three hours ago, and you are complaining...about food!"
She wasn't in the best mood right now. They had just grabbed enough scraps for the clan, picking up whatever food that wasn't eaten by other predators. It was enough to keep everyone fed, at least until night time. However, a certain someone didn't get his fill, despite eating a full meal. And as such, the target of her annoyance was complaining like a little pup.
Oh, how she hated Banzai at times..
"Hey, I only had A few slabs of meat! Everyone else had more!" Banzai argued.
"Yes, but your slabs were bigger than theirs!" Shenzi pointed out, "In fact, roughly half of the meat we gave to our clan, was about the size of the ones you ate!"
The three usually tried to keep order for the clan, and to lead in the hunts. The rules were simple: you find it, you keep it. Therefore, when the trio found a zebra that wasn't picked clean, they made sure to take all they could. And that was a lot more than what the other hyenas ate. After all, they were in charge. And it only made sense that they would have a bit more than the others. Shenzi was glad that the other hyenas respected that fact.
Ed, who was listening for a while, bobbed his head in agreement.
"Hey! You ate more, Ed!" Banzai snapped back, "How many was that? 10 pieces?"
"Compared to your four huge pieces? I am sure it was more." Shenzi rolled her eyes, "Fine, fine. Look, if it will shut you up, we will go out, and see about grabbing something. But if we don't, you will just have to live with it."
"Alright! That's more like it. Give me a zebra sandwich. No, wait! Make it a hippo!" Banzai grinned as he'd follow Shenzi outside the cave. Ed giggled, and soon laughed as he would trail his friends. However, his laughter started to slow down, as he noticed something upon exiting the cave. Shenzi noticed it first, as she stopped right as they left the cave. The only one who didn't notice, was Banzai. He continued to talk about what to eat, until he finally bumped into her, "Ow! Hey, why did we stop?"
Shenzi didn't reply. She instead took a few steps forward, and glanced around. They weren't in the savannah. She could tell. There were structures all around of different shapes and sizes. There were trees that she didn't recognize. And then, there were people. Humans, to be exact. All walking around, with cameras, sunglasses, or anything else on hand. The place felt like Africa...but, it wasn't. It was...too different. Far too different. She would look behind her, past her friends. The cave that they exited from, was no longer there. Instead, there was a bridge leading to a path, and in the distance, there was a giant tree.
"Banzai, Ed. Tell me: What is wrong with this picture?" She would ask.
It would only take a minute for Banzai to process.
"What happened to our home?!" He screamed out in shock.
