After months of coherency, and sharing stories on her Papá, Coco was hesitant to leave her family as they were all gathered around. She had known for a while yet, and since losing Julio, that it would be a day of mixed feelings; but now it doubly was. Miguel, through his own grief, kept reassuring her that her Papá was waiting, and all of them, and though she saw the same confused wondering, on how he could know so firmly, on Rosa and many others of the family's faces, they all took to the hope and seemed to be hopeful for her sake.
She cupped his cheek one last time, and kissed his forehead, then moving down the row of kids to do the same. Benny and Manny at least seemed blissfully unaware of what her feeble hugs meant before their sister took them back. She reminded the boys to be good, Gloria to watch out for everyone and asked Elena not to worry too much. Feeling her daughter's kiss to her forehead, she then felt herself fade.
She wasn't sure what she expected to come next (well she had a few ideas) but looked genuinely stunned as she blinked and saw...petals? Marigold. Oddly dented in color with it not being Dia de los Muertos. Coco glanced around, and then noticed she was standing on her own two feet!
In a way she hadn't in years! She lifted her feet, seeing sandals, not house-shoes, and then gave a testing up and down both sides. She also took notice of her skeletal appearance, that somehow didn't frighten her. But more to the point...yes, she could probably... Coco tested her theory, taking off running across the space, and giving a little laugh as she felt little difference from 20-something, appearance aside!
"Uh, Ma'am?", a smiling skeleton (she wasn't at all startled to see him either) caught her attention from the steps of a large building she was near. "If you'd come this way, we'll get your sorted". Coco nodded, somehow feeling very similar to how she had that time one of the merchants caught her dashing through the market like an errant teen, not the mother of two young girls as she was at the time. In a similar fashion, she fixed at her dress, giving a smile that tried to look sheepish, but was too joyous for such, and followed him inside.
