Moving Up! {Parrs, Linguini, Wiggins}

Dashiell Robert Parr raced back to the current hotel the Parrs were in as fast as he could without using his powers. Since impressing his mother was the current aim, he didn't want to undo that by having to get a lecture about using his powers around the news he had to tell! Of course he could have got back much faster if he still had the cool car Mr. Jumba had made him, but Toad currently had that because of the amazing deal Dash had made!

Dash was already giving himself full credit for the transaction in thinking back over it!

Honestly, there were so many similarities between Toad and Dash himself, and part of the reason the former now had his car, that he should perhaps look up to the amphibian (well at or still kinda down, even as a toad to a kid he was still small) rather than be annoyed as he was about to when certain facts of Toad Hall came to light; namely the number of actual bedrooms.

Dash had also meant to swap hotel rooms as well, since the Parrs wouldn't be needing theirs after taking Toad Hall, but Toad had rushed off so quickly he hadn't got the chance to tell him that part, but if the toad wasn't concerned about that fact, Dash wouldn't waste time trying to find him again just to tell that.

He still had to tell Mom about the amazing job he'd done!

"Mom!", even with all things considered, the way Dash came bursting in was not all that unusual to any other day. He scanned and quickly found Helen, rushing the rest of the way up. "Guess what, guess what, guess what, guess what, guess what?", Dash at first sounded like he would give her the actual option of guessing, but after this went on, "You're not gonna be able to, so I'm just gonna tell you! I found us a hotel! Guess how I did it? Oh you're gonna be so proud of me!", Dash was all but hopping on his feet with all the excitement coursing through him.

The All Star hotel was a little small for the four remaining Parrs, but it wasn't like they weren't used that when they spent weeks at the motel. To be honest, Helen didn't like that her kids had to get used to that to begin with. Parents were supposed to give the very best kinda life to the kids, but Helen wasn't hard on herself. She was doing her best and all that she could ask was that her kids would just adapt to the change. Realistically speaking, that was easier said than done when it came to Dash and Violet sharing a bed.

Still, Helen was trying to make the most of it, just like she and her husband had tried to do when they were back in the motel, except now she was just by herself. Just thinking of being in the same situation without her husband made her miss him even more. Heck, she always missed him, even if it had been months since it happened. Being with someone for 15 years was not something she could just suddenly get used to being without; even if she was flexible, she was human.

When Dash had burst through the hotel room, Helen was in the bathroom giving Jack-Jack a bath, the one Parr that was quite content with the way things were. "Hey sweetie," Helen greeted her boy with a smirk, used to Dash talking fast when he was excited about something, and he was usually easily excitable. Blazestone, one of the many supers that passed away, used to do that when she thought she was in a different dimension, so she had been used to it for a while. A sigh escaped her lips at even the mention of hotels. It was the source of arguments and whines lately. "There are a lot of hotels, Dash..we've discussed this, we just can't afford to- Wait. What?" Helen suddenly realized that this wasn't the usual talk, "Are you saying that you found us an affordable hotel suite?" The auburn haired mother raised an eyebrow with an impressed expression, before returning her attention to turning off the water and picking Jack-Jack up with a towel to dry him off. The realistic superheroine naturally didn't think he meant that he found an actual entire hotel, just another small hotel room. She decided to play along and tried to think of how her son managed to find an affordable hotel suite.  "Um..I dunno..you actually used the slow internet?" Helen smirked playfully as she dried Jack-Jack off with a towel in her arms. She had been trying to research affordable ones for her family, but the fact that her little boy was helping out, even possibly using the slow internet, was endearing enough to melt her heart. She'd be truly surprised if her impatient boy did use the slow internet though, but she was interested to find out what he did that would make her proud of him, so she turned and gave him the attention he wanted as soon as Jack-Jack was quickly changed into his onesie on the bed. "Alright Dash, what did you do?" She knelt down and rubbed her nose at Dash's nose playfully, then picked up one of Jack-Jack's toys on the floor for Jack-Jack to play with on the bed.

Oh! Waiting for Mom to catch up so he could tell was almost torture! Dash nodded as she asked if he had found an affordable hotel. So affordable! They didn't have to pay anything! Or this was what Dash thought, not knowing yet about the servants...

"Um..I dunno..you actually used the slow internet?"

Dash laughed. Yeah the internet around here was pretty bad...

Even with it being a "new" technology when they arrived here from the Sixties, Dash already knew of tech and gadgets that worked so much better! He shook his head, nope that wasn't it!

"Alright Dash, what did you do?"

Dash smiled as Mom tapped his nose, even though it meant she didn't actually expect him to have fixed it like he did. He had to act a bit aloft, like any ten-year-old boy, but secretly loved both of his parents' affections and missed his Dad's as well more than he ever let on. He took in a breath that signaled having a lot to explain, and then launched right in!

"Ok, so Mr. Jumba made me a car, one that does all sorts of cool stuff, but don't worry, it was still a safe car, well is, I only say was 'cause I don't have it no more, but then that's part of the story. So I was driving it around, and you know what it's also so cool that it was impossible to hit anybody...not that I even almost almost did, I still drove super safe, but anyway, after I stopped a toad came up and said it was a really cool car. He was one of the talking ones in clothes. Anyway I gave him a ride, maybe I shouldn't have 'cause then he just got more interested in the car, but I think I should have 'cause...well just wait! He liked the car so much he offered me...well money at first...I think but I told him it wasn't for sale, but then he kept trying and offered me a puppy! I still said no. But then it hit me! Maybe he'd swap hotel rooms for it! and he did! Well...I never got to tell him about swapping rooms, he just wanted the car, but he gave us his whole big mansion he has here for the car! And he says it's got like more than three rooms so...it's perfect! And it's ours! Aren't you so proud of me! I got us a hotel just like The Man of House that I am!", Dash semi-repeated the idea he had got off Mr. Héctor; and or course this last sounded a bit chauvinistic, but not from Dash, and more his being super excited he could help!

It was a good thing Helen was used to Dash's rapid responses when he was excitable, which was pretty often as far as her oldest son was concerned, especially when he'd be arguing with Violet. "Jumba made you a car?!" Helen had to react despite Dash's reassurances after. She just didn't think it was right to just do that without asking. Helen raised her eyes up at the ceiling, "Dash.." It was a good thing it was a safe car, from what Dash had described it to be, but that still didn't make it right. Amazingly, Helen let it go with a sigh as she continued to listen. She was still going to talk to Dash and Jumba, but she wasn't actually as annoyed as she would have been normally. Maybe it was because a part of that just... reminded her of something Bob would do, and she missed that. She still made a mental note that she would have to lay some ground rules with Dash and Jumba as far as doing things without asking, but the car being safe was okay for now, especially because he didn't have it anymore. 

As far as talking toads in clothing were concerned, Helen was used to that whole thing by now enough to simply blink at the thought of Dash just letting complete strangers in for rides. She knew her son was just bein' sweet. In the world of superheroes though, it just wasn't safe to do for just anyone without knowing just what kind of person they were, but that would have to be up to her to teach him more about that, given that her son hadn't been exposed enough to the crime fighting world yet. This toad was sounding more like a salesman though. "He traded you for a mansion?" Helen remarked with a raise of an eyebrow, wondering if this toad just took advantage of her boy and traded a toad-sized mansion for a kid's car. Toads were normally really small, so this trade seemed a little unfair if the toad was as small as Helen was thinking. Even if the car wasn't authorized, it was still wrong to take advantage of her boy. A lesson was to be learned from this.

"Aren't you so proud of me! I got us a hotel just like The Man of House that I am!"

Dash's words softened the mother considerably though, not taking the chauvinistic remark to heart this time, only because it reminded of something Bob would say or do. Normally she would've said something, but the fact that Bob wasn't here just..made her miss him hearing it from Dash, who looked just like him. "Aw you know I'm proud of you, sweetie.."  Helen said that sincerely as she embraced her oldest son in her arms, trying to hide the sentimental expression she wore for how her son sounded so much like Bob. "I couldn't have done this if you hadn't handled yourself so well," The auburn haired mother admitted before she gave her blonde boy a kiss on the forehead for just being there for her during these hard times, and for even thinking of helping to take care of the family when she took it upon herself to do that for her family as the mom. It was the sweetest thing she could ask for. "..but doesn't this kind of feel like an uneven trade?" Helen pulled away only slightly to look down at him with a raise of an eyebrow.

Of course, her family wasn't one to just accept things without complaining about at least checking it out. It was better if they all did and just got this matter resolved. A sigh escaped her lips as she sat on the bed to mind Jack Jack on the bed, who was trying to bite through a ball. "Well.. where is it anyway?" Helen inquired with some hesitation in her voice. She didn't want to say that she completely conceded by saying this, but she would check it out if only just to rule out or prove that a toad-sized mansion was not a fair trade.

"Jumba made you a car?!"

Opps... Dash hoped he hadn't just gotten the scientist in trouble. That would be a poor way to repay the car!

Mom tried to cut in with an exasperated stating of his name as he mentioned almost running over people, but Dash plowed on...almost to try to skip past that moment.

"Aw you know I'm proud of you, sweetie.."

Though it sounded like Mom had had some suspicions concerning this trade (and the same ones Dash himself had thought of, on size of the house and such) her saying she was proud of him would always bring a grin to the boy's face.

"I couldn't have done this if you hadn't handled yourself so well,"

Dash didn't want to comment again on how Dad wasn't around, for both of their sake, so shrugged, but not shrugging off her compliment. Still, it was like Mr. Héctor had said. He was the oldest son and, while Vi was plenty of help too, he had to be there too, for Jack-Jack and his mom; though Mr. Héctor had put this in as least a pressuring way as he could.

"..but doesn't this kind of feel like an uneven trade?"

"Oh, no, I was worried too; that it would be frog-sized", Dash explained, "But he assured it's not and it has rooms upon rooms, full sized", Dash had misheard some of what Toad had said on the house...

"Well.. where is it anyway?"

Dash was almost caught out in not having grabbed up that bit of information, except he had asked on the way here, once he realized he didn't know, and Toad had sped off. "Fantasyland, the people I asked after he sped away say you can't miss it!", this was sounding like Dash had been conned...

"Come on!", Dash grabbed up Jack-Jack, ready to set out, "Where's Vi?".
