Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's Sage, and I wished upon a star from once upon a time. My other imaginary friends include Elsa, Ian, and co. Wall-E and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Wall-E
Age: He never bothered to count. He has been running for over 700 consecutive years since he was activated.
Species: Robot
Birthplace: a BNL factory
Movie: Wall-E
Custom title: Working Android Loves Learning and Exploring
Why'd you pick this character?I’ve had Wall-E on my mind for a few years, but I was always anxious about writing for him because he’s not a very vocal person, and while he’s expressive, writing a character who can’t actually smile was daunting. While it made me anxious before, I now see it as a challenge, and I’m excited to try.
Hair description: Wall-E has no hair. He’s a robot.
Facial description/mood/expressions: While Wall-E’s face is technically expressionless, he has learned how to manipulate his eyes to convey what emotion he feels.
Clothing style: As he is a robot, he doesn’t wear clothes. He can exchange his eyes and tire treads, with parts from other WALL-E robots.
Body build: Wall-E is a cube. He can lift his eyes on a “neck”, and can rotate that a full 360 degrees. His tires can expand for us or compress and fold up under his body, and his arms can fold along his body as well, taking him from a nearly perfect cube to a working Waste Allocation Load Lifter: Earth class.
Any unique traits (optional): Wall-E can use his body to compact a pile of trash into a cube of trash--which can be useful to save space and clean up the environment.
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
Wall-E originally didn’t have a personality. All of who he is came after the shut-down, when the last humans abandoned the Earth and deactivated all of their robots--save one. In the process of keeping his computers working, so he could continue doing his job, his software glitched, leading the robot to become curious. He is also dedicated, having continued work without updates or further directives for centuries.
History:
Wall-E was built in a Buy ‘N’ Large factory at the end of the 21st century. One of over a million WALL-E units, he remained inactive for a few years, compressed into his storage mode. He was activated in the early 22nd century, as part of Operation: Clean-Up. A few short years later, the humans gave up on Operation Clean-Up, because they were still producing more waste than the WALL-E units could clean up. The WALL-E units were deactivated, except one.
Wall-E continued working, diligently following his directive for centuries. In desperate need of a software update, his system glitched, providing Wall-E with a personality. He was curious about all of the human things around him. He could barely bring memories of humans to the forefront of his computer--at the time, few memories had been recorded. The BNL president’s face, and his directive had been all that mattered.
He delighted in collecting and sorting human objects, and guessing at their purpose. Favorites included silverware, lightbulbs, Rubik’s Cubes, and zippo lighters. He also gathered spare parts, looting the bodies of his deactivated brothers for usable parts like boards, eyes, hands, and cogs. Given the lifespan of the treads for his tires, he didn’t collect them; they didn’t wear out fast enough to warrant collection, and they never malfunctioned.
His curiosity piqued at a red dot, leading the old robot on an adventure in space. He met other robots--including EVE, a sleek robot that Wall-E cared deeply for--and faced antagonistic robots--like Auto, the auto-pilot steering wheel that was following a secret directive from the BNL president.
With EVE and the humans’ help, Wall-E got the plant to the holo-detector, which took the Axiom home. His memory of that is fuzzy, because of a shock directly to his computer and a compression by a WALL-A unit. EVE took him to his home bunker and used the spare parts within to repair Wall-E.
Ambitions: clean up all trash, learn everything he can, make more friends,
Strengths & abilities: organized, meticulous,
Flaws: naive, battery-operated, distractible,
Likes: EVE, collecting things, Hello, Dolly!, bubble wrap, Pong,
Dislikes: Auto, lightning,
Fears: forgetting, deactivation,
Anything to add?:
This is a challenge I’m excited for!
