Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's Mordo, and I wished upon a star from Bing. My other characters include Darkwing Duck and Lightning McQueen. The Phantom Blot and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: The Phantom Blot aka Dr. James Robert (Bob) Mancha
Age: 40
Species: Anthropomorphic Dog
Birthplace: Toontown, California
Movie: Various shorts and comics
Custom title: The Mouse's Most Dangerous Enemy
Why'd you pick this character? I wanted to play a therapist and a hypnotist character and this guy is both. The fact that he also happens to be one of Mickey's most dangerous enemies is just the extra cherry on top! As such I feel like he would be a lot of fun to play as and he could cause some serious trouble in the parks.
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description:
Unmasked, Dr. Mancha has medium-length slicked back black hair and a distinguishable long thin black mustache. Due to his own vanity, Mancha considers himself very good looking as do others from his world. His own creator, Topolino describes The Blot as such, "In short, smart, stylish, good-looking, Blot would seem the prince ... it's a shame that all this is accompanied by a heart as black as night!"
Facial description/mood/expressions:&
It's usually hard to tell whenever the Blot has his black hooded mask on. However, even with the mask on the blot's white eyes and mouth tend to give some of what he is currently feeling away. Whenever winning he tends to laugh like a typical villain.
Unmasked, it is much easier to tell what he must be feeling. After he loses and gets captured by the good guys he just looks all annoyed and frustrated.
Clothing style:
As the Phantom Blot, the Blot wears a long hooded black robe with a black mask to conceal his true identity and physical appearance. His eyes appear white and his mouth can be seen while wearing the mask. This gives him the appearance of a living shadow made out of ink.
Unmasked and under his much more palatable civilian identity, Dr. Mancha has the sneaky tendency to dress for the occasion. In other words, as a master of disguise he will only all too gladly wear whatever he needs to wear to better disguise himself for whatever civilian role he has taken up. In the parks he will mainly pose as a professional psychologist as his ingenious cover.
Body build:
The Blot is tall and is roughly around the same height as an average human man and he is skinny. He has a bit of black hair on top of his head, a large black dog nose, long ears, and a long black mustache. Due to his vanity the Blot believes himself to be very good looking. Try to tell him otherwise and you might have a very bad day.
Any unique traits (optional):
Interestingly, his facial features, his thin mustache included are based on Walt Disney's own likeness. Blot unmasked almost looks human. In fact, the only non-human things about him are his dog nose and long ears.
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
Put simply, the Phantom Blot aka James Mancha has issues. A lot of issues; which some of it was likely caused by how his parents raised and treated him. As a kid his parents made him wear white and their mansion along with all of the furnishings was plain white; which left him pretty messed up. On top of all that his parents constantly favoring his brothers over him and criticizing him over every little thing he does left him feeling more than a little resentful of his family. Determined to outdo his brothers and rub his success in their faces the Blot does exactly that every chance he gets. As such the Blot is mean, nasty, evil, ruthless, needlessly cruel, and extremely vindictive. Further, he is vain, arrogant, and has a large ego to boot. He is also very greedy and selfish. Even if he doesn't even care about the item persay he will still gladly steal it as long as said item is valuable enough to be missed simply for the sake of committing a criminal act and upping his reputation as a villain.
Due to the lack of positive attention he received from his family growing up, the Phantom Blot has now become obsessed with going out of his way to get attention and fame in any way he can typically through illegal means. He'll do things to up his infamy by trying to outdo other criminals and by leaving behind his calling cards at the scene of all his crimes just to make sure he gets full credit for all his crimes. It is for this reason that he can't stand imposters copying his past crimes claiming to be him. He will gladly assist the police in their capture by providing them with any information that he can as long as it results in his impersonators being rightly punished.
Further he is highly intelligent, cunning, clever, and creative with a huge imagination to boot. He is also very ambitious and feels a certain attraction towards those with similar goals and virtues as himself. Additionally, he has a rather disturbing addiction of damaging others psychologically. He claims it feels good to him and makes him happy every time he does it. He hates it whenever someone attempts to psychoanalyze him and even sees it as insulting to a degree. If psychoanalyzed he will slyly change the subject often without the person realizing until too late. He also hates it whenever someone calls him mister instead of Doctor whenever in civilian form since he did not suffer through all those long years studying psychology at university just to be called mister. Despite this, he often handles himself with an air of professionalism. He is normally cool, calm, and relaxed. Rarely, does he get too excited and angry. But when he does it is usually best to stay clear of him and not to anger him further. Unlike some villains he prefers using subtlety and manipulation to get his way than utilizing brute force. Willing to kill to further his goals and get what he wants he has the tendency of leaving his victims behind in death traps with one little catch. There's usually a flaw in his traps that his victims take advantage of to escape. Subconsciously, the Blot himself made sure that his death traps were escapable due to not having the heart to directly kill anyone. He is not yet fully aware of his reluctance to actually kill somebody. Despite all this, he does have a sliver of good in him somewhere deep down. But he will never admit that both out of pride and because he is currently unaware that he has a sliver of good hiding deep inside him.
History:
The Phantom Blot was one of those villains who wasn't born evil. In fact he wouldn't become the infamous criminal known as the Phantom Blot until many years later. The Blot's own childhood was about as normal as a child born into a wealthy family could be. The name the Phantom Blot was born as was James Robert (Bob) Mancha and growing up James wasn't exactly happy. He was a lonely child and had always been smart for his age. A lot smarter than all the other kids his age that he grew up around. As a child genius he was often misunderstood by everyone around him including his own family and what little friends he had. Added to the fact that he often believed that his superior intellect automatically made him better than everyone else and that he was destined to do great things didn't really help him in making friends. Another reason why he felt so lonely was outside his control. His own parents throughout his childhood had often expressed obvious favoritism to his brothers; one was his twin and the other a few years older. It seemed that no matter what he did his brothers just got more attention. Even if he came home with better grades it never failed his parents would find something to criticize him about while praising his brothers whom he believed both had less imagination and creativity than himself. Being wealthy they lived in a large, luxurious mansion.
One would think that perhaps living in such a large, extravagant home would prove exciting and fun. Sadly, that was not the case with this particular mansion for everything on the inside out was white: the walls, the furniture, the floors, the carpet, even his clothes! Everything was white! And as such the mansion came with very strict rules from his very strict wealthy parents. Namely he couldn't get anything dirty including his white clothes for if he did he would be severely punished for it. Of course this often led to James acting out either for attention or just as a means to spite his parents; sometimes even both hence why his parents would criticize him and thus continuing the neverending cycle. He would often deliberately throw paint all over the place as a means to "add some color to their otherwise dull, mundane lives," as he so eloquently put it much to the horror and frustration of his parents. His actions even disappointed his brothers who didn't understand him at all. Some say that living for so long surrounded by so much whiteness is what ultimately caused him to snap and go crazy. At any rate in an attempt to make up for their neglect, James' parents would often purchase him expensive gifts and throw lavish parties. As though that somehow magically made up for hardly getting any real attention from them. To keep himself busy and to prevent himself from dying of boredom James would build various gadgets and gizmos. While his peers saw him as a weirdo he saw himself as a misunderstood genius full of creativity and imagination.
He could not wait until he was old enough to leave home. He had ideas. Big ideas of how to make his own living outside of his parents' strict rules and out of his brothers' shadows. In is mind it was the perfect plan to finally get his parents to be proud of him and appreciate his genius. Unfortunately, things didn't exactly work out as he had planned.
After he had left home he had attempted to strike it rich by becoming an inventor and selling his inventions. Sadly nothing he made was popular and well received enough; which forced him to try something else. He decided to try his hand at psychology. So he went to study at a local university to learn all he could about the human mind. Right away he found the subject fascinating. After learning the tricks of the trade as well as making a few interesting discoveries of his own, James graduated with a psychology degree and set up shop in Toontown. While he enjoyed the work he soon found progress in recruiting new patients too slow for his taste. Fact was he needed to earn enough money to pay back his student loans and predictably his own parents refused to help him out. Not long after their refusal all the resentment he had been felling towards not only them, but society in general had built up to the surface and had exploded giving him a new idea. A bad one. To earn enough money to pay back his student loans at a faster rate he turned to a life of crime. He donned a long black robe and mask and thus the Phantom Blot was born. Using his genius level intellect he built various gadgets and gizmos to assist him in his crimes.
His first major crime was an unusual one and one that he remembers fondly. Out of pure coincidence the Blot learned that some rather clumsy jewel thieves had lost a very special and majorly expensive diamond inside of a very specific brand of camera; the very same cameras that had been sent out to various shops throughout Toontown. Needless to say their boss was none to happy when his subordinates informed him of the loss. Being the opportunistic criminal he was the Blot decided to go check this lead out just to see how real this so called missing diamond really was. Under deep cover of night, the Blot ran around town in search for the diamond. During his eager pursuit he would break and smash every camera matching the specific brand he could find. It wasn't long until he was on the police radar and soon he was being followed by a certain annoying and nosy mouse, Mickey. But the Blot refused to be so easily deterred and he continued his rather brazen search. The police believe him to be a madman for only smashing cameras while leaving valuables behind while Mickey correctly realized that he was looking for something. Once he felt the mouse was getting too close for comfort, the Blot tried to kill him several times using clever traps. Unfortunately for the Blot, the mouse proved to be quite the escape artist by escaping all of his death traps. Even so he at last after all of his tireless searching found the correct camera holding the lost diamond and fled the scene. Sadly, he did not get very far and soon found himself caught in a trap by Mickey who mockingly thanked him for finding the lost diamond for them. Of course the diamond was returned to its rightful home at the local museum. Humiliated, the Blot was dragged away by police to jail.
He wasn't in jail for long though for like his new nemesis, Mickey, he too was quite the escape artist and soon he escaped from his jail cell. Once out he wasted no time in enacting his next scheme: stealing famous paintings right out of the museum and then replacing them with forgeries of his own making that look remarkably close to the originals. However, Mickey Mouse with his keen observation skills noticed upon closer inspection that some of the paintings in the museum were fakes due to said painting either having the artist's signature in the wrong spot and not quite right or it was missing altogether. During his new crime spree he developed the urge to leave behind a calling card: an ink blot on a piece of paper. Sometimes his notes would say something else; something relevant to the current situation and in a mocking sort of way. His new urge to leave behind calling cards though would often lead to his downfall. Part of him decided to do it for the extra attention it brought him while the other part of him hoped it would help him become known as the world's greatest criminal mastermind. In the end as before the Blot's forgery crime spree was cut short by Mickey Mouse and he was thrown back in jail.
And so it continued with the Phantom Blot consistently escaping prison to commit new crimes only to get caught by Mickey Mouse and his friends and thrown in jail again. All the while he has met and even befriended fellow criminals such as the Mysterious Mr. X and the Beagle Boys. In fact, he kind of considered Mr. X as his best friend. The two committed numerous crimes together including stealing a super secret invisible jet right from under the navy's nose. In that instance he and X were caught not by Mickey, but by Scrooge McDuck and Launchpad.
In yet another crime of his he stole Ludwig Von Drake's ultimate credit card giving him access to all of the money in the world. Everything was going great and exactly as he planned it until Mickey and his meddling friends stopped him and the Blot found himself behind bars once again. Another evil scheme of his had him stealing the colors from his fellow residents using one of his evil inventions in order to become the Phantom Rainbow. But like before it ended in defeat at the hands of his archnemesis and his two equally annoying friends.
At some point during his criminal career he meets the mad witch herself, Madam Mim. Right away she becomes smitten by him while he himself is less than amused. Still, he decided to go along with it and pretended to reciprocate her love for him in order to use her magic. It never failed, every night Mim would use her magic to teleport the Blot out of his jail cell to her cottage for a couple of hours while they enjoyed dinner together. Afterwards, she would poof him back into his jail cell. This went on for awhile and it drove the police and Mickey Mouse nuts since for the longest time they could not figure out how the Blot could magically disappear from his cell and reappear back like clockwork as though he never left. Once Mim starts getting marriage on the brain the Blot sees it as his time to leave for good. After he hypnotizes her to steal an entire jewelry store full of jewels for him using her magic he tries to escape with all of the jewels using a rocket. He is thwarted when his rocket fails to go anywhere and he is quickly apprehended by Mickey Mouse and Chief O'Hara. Naturally, it doesn't exactly work out between him and Mim.
His other crimes include: becoming an wild west outlaw in an attempt to outdo all of the old wild west outlaws that came before him, turning pirate and turning the beagle boys into his motley crew to capture Scrooge's ship and steal his gold, chasing Scrooge into Medieval Times in order to steal his money tree seeds, causing various border disputes between two neighboring countries in order to dig up the hidden diamonds buried deep in between the two opposing countries, and he even attempted to take over a country by impersonating its leader. All of his crimes were of course foiled by his archnemesis, Mickey Mouse and his troublesome friends and he often met an humiliating defeat.
At some point the blot traveled to Transylvania to commit a series of crimes there. He got it in his head that it would be fun to steal every last bit of fungi there then sell it back to its citizens for outrageous prices. What he didn't...couldn't have counted on was somebody else doing the same and that certain someone was none other than the seductive sorceress, Morgana Macawber. He came across her when they were both trying to liberate the same grocery store of its fungus ingredients. He was about to treat her the same way he treated all other previous obstacles that stood in his way of making money by eliminating her with extreme prejudice. But there was something about her that he liked; that attracted him to her. It wasn't just her good looks, it was everything! Frankly he rather liked the way she handled herself. It was like she wasn't afraid of anything not even him and the way she stood up to him was like magic. And that was it! He was hooked. And he knew she must have felt the same way when she didn't attack him and instead she suggested that they team up and work together on their similar sinister scheme. Naturally he accepted her offer and teamed up with her believing that together they were unstoppable. The fact that she was an ambitious businesswoman really attracted him to her.
It wasn't long before the two really fell for one another and began dating. And not long after that did the pair gain a fearsome reputation similar to that of Bonnie and Clyde or Joker and Harley Quinn save for one small difference. Their relationship was a lot healthier and was one of mutual respect. Things were going great for the criminalistic couple until the duo captured a security guard. Morgana was happy with just tying the hapless guard up and leaving him locked up in a closet while they made their getaway, but the Blot wanted to instead leave the guard trapped in one of his signature death traps. Despite being a criminal herself, Morgana was never too keen on the idea of killing someone off. Heavily against murder, Morgana ordered her vicious partner in crime to release the security guard or she will tell the whole world his civilian identity. Knowing that would ruin him the Phantom Blot complied and stopped his death trap. Fearing that she may still leak his civilian identity to someone he did the one thing he did not think he would ever do to her: he hypnotized her into being unable to give away his secret making it so no matter how hard she tries she will never be able to tell anyone that he is really James Mancha.
After that nothing was the ever the same between them again. They were more distant and there was less trust between them. At first the Phantom Blot tried his best to scale back his evil for his girlfriend's sake, but it just wasn't meant to be. She caught him yet again trying to kill someone and they both knew that was it. As much fun as they had committing crimes together in the end they simply weren't meant to be together. Although the breakup was hard on both of them it was mutual for they both thought it best to break up.
The Blot re-hypnotized her to not give him away and he left. Feeling depressed he returned to Toontown. Some time later he learned from fellow criminals that Morgana had gone straight thanks to St. Canard's lone hero and protector, Darkwing Duck and that she was now dating him. Annoyed, he went to St. Canard to confront her about it; which proved to be a mistake. She was every bit as stubborn as he was. She refused to return to a life of crime with him and she even pleaded with him to change his ways and join the good fight against evil villainy, but out of his stubborn pride he heard none of it and refused to reform for anyone even for her. Tired of her attempts to reform him, the Blot returned to his home in Toontown.
Not long after he returned to his life as a solo act he received a very unexpected visit from an equally unexpected person, Magica, Morgana's rival. It seemed he had gained quite a reputation for himself in the criminal world; which attracted much more than police and noble heroes. She came to him wanting...no expecting his help in her own evil scheme of getting her greedy hands on Scrooge McDuck's number one dime. Unfortunately, for her he wasn't the least bit interested in Scrooge's stupid dime even if it was as lucky as they say and besides he was much too busy with his latest evil scheme to even consider helping her out with her little dime scam. Sadly she didn't take his refusal very well and she forced him to help her out by hexing him.
Once in St. Canard, Magica took him to her secret lair underneath the city and introduced him to what looked like a sticky slimy substance. She told him that it had an interesting effect on people and animals and that they could use it to take over the city. The Blot liked the sound of that and just as Magica had hoped he had a rather clever, devious idea of how to go about it. Using the slimy substance he very slyly began infecting certain objects with the slime and sending them to unwary civilians transforming them into supervillains with a grudge against Darkwing Duck. He didn't just target people at random either. No he chose his targets very carefully. The Blot specifically chose those civilians who have had a string of bad luck and were depressed. He found such civilians were much easier to prey upon and much more susceptible to becoming overwhelmed by the power of the evil slime. But that was not all he did.
In order to truly rule the city he needed a puppet mayor; someone under his control. As it so happened a mayoral election was going on. The ones running were: Constance Dention, Launchpad Mcquack, and Darkwing Duck himself. He infected Constance with a good amount of the slime transforming her into Suffrage, another one of Darkwing's new villains. Under his civilian identity and using his middle name, Bob, the Blot secretly 'helped' all three of the candidates with their campaigns as a communications expert. The one he really wanted to win was Constance and so he slightly infected both Launchpad and Darkwing with the slime when he gave them his business card which had the stuff on it. But it wasn't a lot. Just enough to keep them arguing with one another and making smear campaigns against each other. It was his hope that Constance would win the election easily by looking good in comparison to the heroes. Unfortunately for him his evil plan got cut short after Constance/Suffrage got caught and arrested.
This loss forced Blot and Magica to try something else. This time they used the slime to literally transform the whole city threatening to transform anything and anyone that touches the stuff into monsters. During the chaos Negaduck and Morgana had returned after a portal had opened up. This forced Darkwing to make the difficult choice of pulling them both through the portal. It was a tough choice for the hero to make since saving Morgana also meant saving Negaduck since there was no stopping the yellow jacketed villain from also coming through. After Negaduck joined the action things only became even more chaotic for the heroes. Blot had no idea that Morgana had been lost inside another dimension for who knows how long, so seeing her getting pulled out of the portal by Darkwing really surprised him. At any rate, Negaduck had joined in on the chaos rather easily. In fact, one might even say he took it over; which initially bothered Blot since Magica's little hex had led him to believe this was all his idea. Speaking of, for reasons unknown to the Blot, Negaduck who knew what had been going on since he and Morgana were able to watch from their dimension, used the slime to show the Blot what all Magica did to him to get him to join her. Grateful to Negaduck for showing him the truth the Phantom Blot offered to help him and furious at Magica for her deception he threatened to make her life miserable unless she agreed to team up with them. Now that the villains were all one with the slime they thought for sure they would be unstoppable. And they probably would have been had it not been for a little banishing spell that Morgana had secretly placed on Negaduck. The spell was easily activated by Darkwing; which resulted in all of the villains, the Phantom Blot included to be banished to the Wasteland.
The Blot just knew that since the whole idea of becoming one with Negaduck and the slime was all his idea that the other villains would surely blame him for this. Then again it wasn't his fault that Morgana had placed a secret banishing spell on Negaduck nor was it his fault that the meddlesome do-gooder, Darkwing had activated it. Even so he expected to be blamed for all this. At any rate, the Wasteland was every bit as boring as Negaduck had described it to be mainly because it was devoid of any citizens to rule over. Only people there were them. So there wasn't a whole lot for them to do except argue and yell at each other not that that did anything except get annoying real quick. The Blot left the fools arguing amongst themselves and went off on his own to find a way out of the Wasteland himself.
Eventually, he literally fell into another dimension, one located deeper into the Wastes. Only he was not himself. He had become a giant monster made out of ink becoming the fearsome Shadow Blot. This new dimension, he quickly learned was also known as the Wasteland and it was ruled over by a forgotten lucky rabbit called, Oswald who created paradise for the forgotten residents to keep them happy. That was until he, the Phantom er the Shadow Blot came into town to spoil everything! He was having fun destroying some puny, insignificant buildings with his newfound power when he caught the attention of the local mad scientist who proposed a team up. The Blot only agreed to a team up when the scientist offered to help him find a way out of the Wastes and when the mad scientist's plan included kidnapping Mickey, the Blot couldn't say no. The Blot reached through a portal and grabbed Mickey forcibly dragging the mouse back into the Wastes.
Sadly, before he could do anything more to his archnemesis he found himself in different surroundings. Well actually, it still looked like he was in Oswald's amusement park world, but if that was the case then where was his prisoner and why was he no longer a giant ink monster? He realized he had somehow been returned to his normal Phantom Blot form and Mickey Mouse, Oswald, the Mad Doctor, and all the other Wasteland residents were nowhere to be found. Either he had been magically transported to yet another part of the Wasteland or he had found himself in a completely different dimension. He was really getting sick of all of this dimensional travel. He just wanted to return to ToonTown and stay there.

Likes:
Fame, being well-known, notoriety, media attention, money, riches, valuables, ink, smoking (he knows it's a bad habit but doesn't care), coffee, tea, reading, scrapbooking his own crimes, power, his work as a certified psychologist, hypnotizing people into committing crimes for him and then framing them for it, using people and messing with their minds, committing mind boggling crimes the police can't solve, confusing the police and heroes, causing chaos just for the sake of chaos, being evil, committing theft, committing forgeries, sabotaging others, defacing statues, revenge, leaving victims behind in his elaborate, over the top traps, signing his work, using magic as a tool, art, bright colors, and painting.
Dislikes:
Getting caught, being defeated, public humiliation, not being taken seriously, being underestimated, interruptions, the law, order, the police, heroes, nosy people asking questions, people trying to tell him what to do, magic (sometimes), Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Mickey Mouse and his friends, Darkwing Duck, idiots, stupid questions, needless violence, plain white rooms, being called mister instead of doctor when under his civilian identity, being called a quack, having his own mental health being brought into question, being psychoanalyzed, being used, betrayal, being lied to, his own parents, and his brothers.
Fears:
Someone actually succeeding in hypnotizing him, being unmasked, arrested, losing his psychology license, and being tossed into a small empty white room. The idea of white room torture truly frightens him and views it as cruel and unusual punishment.
Anything to add?:
Dr. Mancha has the ability to hypnotize people via handshake or by using other typical psychiatrist tricks.
Sephy gave me permission to use Morgana in my app and awhile back we came up with the idea that Morgana used to date the Blot before she met and fell for Darkwing. Right now things are complicated between her and Blot because he still cares about her, but can't stand Darkwing and is very frustrated that the hero reformed her and is her new boyfriend.
