charrie basics.[/ul]
age:26
species:Human.
birthplace:Willoughby, England
movie:Pocahontas.
title:Hundreds of dangers await and I don't plan to miss one, In a land I can claim, a land I can tame, The greatest adventure is mine!
why: why'd you pick this character? John Smith is in my mind one of the more complex heroes of Disney. On one hand He is the prototype adventurer who's exploits and adventures encouraged more Englishmen to follow in the trail he blazed in the new world. On the other: The intrepid solider was able to walk the fine line of peace and war despite what his experience taught him about "savages". I love how a man who so steeped in violence was able to find peace and love despite himself and everything. This is why I enjoy both the character and the movie he is in.

charrie appearance[/ul]
facial description/mood expressions: A man of contradictions, John is known to show anger to an extreme degree, his face contorting and his voice booming. His eyes, a light; oceanic blue can be more piercing than the knife he keeps his boot, the sword on his back; or his gaze can be accepting, warm, reassuring and validating as a fathers.
He is known for having an exceptionally warm and endearing smile that is best displayed when he swings from death's clutches on a branch over a ravine, on some latest adventure. Or when he's tenderly holding a certain copper skinned, raven haired princess in his arms.
However in line with a man that is a true friend and comrade to his fellow sailors and Englishmen; John is capable of kindness and understanding one wouldn't expect from a hardened soldier. He'd dive into a torrential, spitting, sea in the midst of a maelstrom to save a friend's life, and has done so before. The voice that was booming in anger could, just as easily be calm and soothing, yet strong and purposeful, charming, confident, he speaks with an exacting rhythm not unlike the fife and drums that he marches to as a professional soldier. He could easily lead a troop into battle and because of the strength and power and confidence ever present in his voice his compatriots would follow him into the new world without a second thought.
On occasion he'll have a slight wise sneer or smirk on his lips. As endearing and warm as his smile it also carries with it the hint of "I know something you don't." or a light tint of sarcasm, such as when he told his friends sarcastically they'd "do the same for him" if he fell overboard.
clothing style: John's clothes typically ring of form and function rather than high fashion of the day. He wears both clothes that will allow him movement and comfortability while Sea faring and protection in the event that he's in a skirmish with the natives of any of the "New Worlds" he's traveled to. This includes high black boots that withstand the moisture of rain and salty sea water, blue trousers for the same purpose, he wears a white low collared low cut shirt that is fairly common among English workers likely of Cotton to protect from the elements and not be stifling over any armor. A testament to his blue collar nature he seems to perpetually have his sleeves rolled up nearly to his elbows.
Ever the professional soldier, he dons a chest plate that shines "like the sun" at any given time and allows him protection in battle without hindering any movement. At any given time he's also known to have various weapons on himself, noted items on his person at any given time are: a musket around his back, a lighter and all the accessories required to load and fire such a weapon. A canteen, a satchel with numerous other implements including biscuits and a compass. He typically keeps a knife in his boot as well as having a baldric mounted sabre in a gold scimitar as well.
body build: at 26 years old John is tall and built strong from both the manual labor that accompanies sea faring for months on end, and being a soldier who is at war quite frequently. When compared to the average "Prince Charming" type of Disney stock character he would be a good bit more spartan in both physical build, more brawny, taller height, not as lanky or scrawny, and being a good bit older, despite having other features that would make him part of the stereotype rather than an exception of it.
any unique traits (optional) : Despite being English Smith seems to speak a more standardized English as opposed to King's English or any of it's regional dialects.

original charrie analysis.
John Smith is an exceptionally strong and adventurous man who is friendly and compassionate to his friends despite his occupation. To King, country and those he calls friend or compatriot he is an "Old Sea Dog" a veteran sailor, explorer, captain and soldier. He has garnered a reputation in the Kings Court as being the most prolific and exceptional "Indian Fighter" in the whole of England. As his crew mate Lon stated upon seeing him "Of course he's coming...you can't fight savages without John Smith!"
John is also very selfless and brave to a fault, he'd risk his life for a friend without thinking.[/ul]
He has a strength of heart and spirit that draw those around him to him and look to him, with his strong(yet amicable) personality and conviction. One such admirer is young Thomas, who looks up to him in a role model type capacity after he saves the youth's life in a dangerous sea storm after leaping overboard.
This brings to light another important aspect of John's personality, to friends he is a selfless and charitable friend, as he states "of course, you'd do the same for me." after leaping into the cold churning waters after Thomas. Not only is saving a life not a big deal to John, but he does such brave and heroic acts without thought to if he'd be recognized or lauded for such behavior.
At first his view toward "savages" was not very differing from the norm of the other Englishman aboard the Susan Constant. With his spirit for adventure He finds a different adventure awaits him when he meets the beautiful, elegant Pocahontas. She presents a new face to the savages John came to exterminate, and he's also like nothing she's ever seen, with his blond hair and blue eyes. The two spend time together, getting to know each other, and before long, they find themselves being more and more drawn to each other. Before long his selflessness again gets him in danger and he realizes he's more in love with Pocahontas than he ever had been with the idea of adventuring. His love for Pocahontas is so deep he offers to stay with her despite his injuries incurred when taking a bullet for her father.
history: John Smith is the captain and leader of the Settlers who were sailing to the New World of Jamestown Virginia in 1607. He comes to the new world in search of Adventure, danger and excitement, whereas the majority of the settlers come for the three gs. Gold, Glory and God. Although initially brought along due to his experience with "savages", being the sole professional soldier of the expedition, His opinion changes quite a bit when he meets the Powhatan Pocahontas.
John begins to understand, and appreciates Pocahontas's strength and conviction. John meets Grandmother Willow, Pocahontas's tree mentor, and she approves of his soul. John attempts to create peace among the two groups so that he might be with Pocahontas. They embrace and kiss, and Kocoum, Pocahontas's alleged fiancee, and Thomas, a young admirer of Captain Smith catch them in the act. Kocoum attacks the white man, and Thomas shoots in defense. Kocoum falls dead, and Smith takes the blame. Smith is captured, and Pocahontas's father, Chief Powhatan, sentences him to death at dawn. Pocahontas visits his tent that night, sorrowfully saying it would have been better if they had never met. He explains he would rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years without knowing her. In the morning, with Grandmother Willow's urging, Pocahontas rushes to the execution site to find both sides ready to begin war, and places her head over John's. She persuades her father that war is not the answer, and that there is a better path than hatred and anger. He stands down, but Governor Ratcliffe takes aim. John stands in the line of fire, taking a bullet for Powhatan. Bed-ridden from his wound, he must return to England, or die. He asks Pocahontas to come with him, but she realizes she's needed at home. They say a painful goodbye as John sails for England.
ambitions: Although Johns adventurous and fiery spirit would normally call him to the next "new world" the next horizon, the next set of dangers, now he feels more that he'd rather marry the one he loves and raise a family, maybe build a home and hearth for them.
strengths && abilities:John is an amicable man who has the respect and admiration of his English peers and fellow settlers. He is looked to for leadership being a decisive and strong voice of reason. Of his more tangible skills are his swordplay, horse riding, marksmanship, tactical prowess, scouting and hunting, as well as sailing. It is implied he is so respected among the English he is the defacto leader of the expedition over the hated Ratcliffe. Moreover he seems to be a good judge of character, realizing before they made it to the new world that Ratcliffe was a windbag. Such can be seen as he rolls his eyes at his "stirring ovation" to the men on board after John saves the life of Thomas
flaws: John is selfless to a fault. This is a dangerous attribute to have when assessing danger, which he does not do well. Examples of this are when he almost died several times on the Virginia expedition, once from saving a fellow crew mate, once from nearly falling off a rock face, and finally when taking a bullet for the Powhatan Chief. John is so embroiled in his love for adventure and danger he did the latter two with a smile on his face. He can also be fiercely protective of his friends, such as when he took the blame for Thomas killing an Indian and was nearly executed for a crime he didn't commit. Previously to meeting Pocahontas he was also Euro centric to the point of near racism toward "savages."
likes:
-Adventure
-sailing
-danger
-exploring
-sword fighting
-Pocahontas
dislikes:
-Governor Ratcliffe
-Materialistic people
-War
-high society gatherings (balls, gallas, etc)
fears: John is deathly afraid of not having control of the situation. He hates the idea of not being strong enough to defend those he loves and cares about.
what makes this character unique:Unlike the vast majority of Disney leading men John has a dark side, before meeting and falling for a certain American Indian princess he was obviously euro centric, maybe to the point of racism. It was clear he devalued "savages" lives to the point where he had no qualms with killing them to save the lives of his fellow Englishmen. Additionally he finds redemption and happiness in the most unlikely of places and this changes his view for the better. Additionally unlike most of the "heroes" his adventures don't start because he wants to gain the affection of the "princess" of the story. He has his own motivations that change throughout the story.
RP SAMPLE: ----
(This is an RP sample I do at another RP wherein I'm Iron Man. I hope it is acceptable)
His afterburners on his feet stopped then and he executed a small barrel roll in mid air to diffuse some of the momentum he was coming in with, landing on the ground on his feet with agility that Peter Parker might give him a thumbs up for. As he landed beside the captain he couldn't help but think about the things that had passed between the two. A flashback of years ago, before Steve knew Tony was Iron Man, he'd given him training in hand to hand combat, in the hopes of protecting himself. That memory personified what Captain America was to Tony, and everyone else, the everyman hero. He was the one avenger you'd ask to see as you'd pull up to avengers mansion, and he'd welcome you in with a pat on the back and a pearly white smile, no matter who you were. In some ways Tony really envied that quality of Steve, even before registration he was seen as something else. A spoiled rich man in an ivory tower over a hundred stories high, disconnected from the world and everyone in it.
People thought that of him, they though that was why he did it. They thought he was some kind of power monger like Osborn or Von Doom. Nothing could be further from the truth, Tony did what he did b/c he'd seen what damage an unregistered hero could do, like his technology when used for the wrong purposes. He spent days destroying technology he created to protect the world at a good bit of his personal fortune, and he'd done it to keep people safe. They'd asked him, just about forced his hand to become shield director, he did it all because he believed it. He firmly BELIEVED in Registration.
Even as he landed a punch on Steve months ago, as he looked to him, telling him to stop, that his jaw was "just about hanging" off his face, he'd believed in the registration he was now fighting his friends for. He'd made mistakes, but Steve wouldn't be the man he was if HE didn't have regrets about raising his fists to his comrades as well.
Tony thought of all this as he landed beside him and deployed a firing pattern at the fat one with repulsor rays. He spoke then to Captain "Afraid I didn't bring any drinks. But here's the streamers." his voice booming somewhat as it did from the projector of the Iron Man armor. As he did the repulsor ray he fired collided with the large super powered one, sending him back before the other could put up a telekinetic shield and send a wave of small force at tony, which given his suit's ability and durability did little.
He thought of telling Captain his plan, he could use a low frequency setting on his armor to project his plan only to the captain's ear drum, but then the psychic would be able to read his mind and counter their efforts. The plan he was going to use was one he and captain had used numerous times in the past when dealing with an adversary with mental abilities. Alright Cap. if you want the help, I'm about to use my sonic array on these two, it should keep them both off balance long enough for you to get in close with the low level psyche user. I just hope you remember this dance!
With that a slight hum could be heard from his armor as the sonic array charged and fired, this dispersion was invisible but it was extremely potent. In this particular pattern damage was localized into a small cone in front of Iron Man at the target, minimizing damage and potential casualties and other possible collateral damage. Something tony worked out years ago encase he was fighting in a densely populated metropolis.
The tell tale signs of this weapon being used aside from the momentary hum (which Cap would be able to hear) was the sudden tripping, loss of motor function and balance, as well as nausea of the targets, -this was the vibrations vibrating their molecules on a cellular level and the result throwing off the equilibrium of the inner ear- before both went flying back wards rocketed by an unseen force.
That done Tony flew at his target head on with his opening, slamming several fists of extreme power into the man and he fell back further, going through the wall of the bank they'd previously tried to rob.
