original charrie analysis. (everything must be in your own words! please be thorough, about 3 sentences)[/ul][/font][/i]
Dr. Facilier is a natural schemer, a plotter, who doesn't mind stepping on a few toes and fingers to reach what he wants and needs. He's also very persuasive knowing exactly what to say to make anyone sees his way; his persuasive tone and keen divinations makes him quite alluring to the point its hard to say 'no'. In a way, he can be a door to many possibilities; one just needs the will to seal the deal, but a smart person should always be careful for what they wish for. With his twisted sense of humor, one wish can always come out for the worse; in a sense, it could be his sense of mockering those who would wish for the easy way out, who are always drawn towards him to make every wish to come true. Wishing on a star gets people no where, if it could Dr. Facilier would already be a rich man and wouldn't need to prowl on the wealth people's pocket for money, while waiting for the door of oppurtunity to strike.
history:
Dr. Facilier is a working middle-class man who grew up with New Orleans surrounded by the life where the grass is much greener on the other side. It was obvious who was the wealthy and who the struggling individuals were. His mother was his inspiration to get out as well as his loathing for the wealthy upper class that merely spoiled and squander on their wealth.
He would tell those that he was a royal from his mother side, but it’s not like such legacy mattered in Louisiana. The upper class society of the Creole seems to have vanished, but he still kept up with his lineage by picking up the arts of voodoo. In truth, voodoo was a relatively minor, since it was amongst culture. He needed to tap into deeper energy versus the mere enlightenment of cultural rituals. Religious rituals weren’t bringing him to the top; he had to dabble with actual spirits to get him closer.
He started first with simple divinations through tarot cards; it brought a little cash to the tourist, but many saw his readings to vague to be true, but a fraud scammer. Bringing in cash was becoming harder as wealth was flaunted before him constantly increasing his distaste for them and wants to be rich as well. The Witch Doctor was placed in a corner; it seemed nothing helped at all, so a mere wish on a star couldn’t hurt. Instead, it opened the door to meeting his friends on the other side. It seemed too good to be true. All he needed was simple contract, and every dream can come true, but not all wishes would be granted.
Now he would an excellence witch doctor. With his friends on the other side, he could bring forth actual magic and divinations; he even obtained a friend, his shadow to lurk by his side. He would have to work hard to get what he wants, but at least his friends gave him a boost.
----------------------------Actual movie plot begins here------
What he needed to do was to grab a man of wealth, and the one he detested the most was the La Bouff, who gained his riches from running a sugar mill, with a spoiled brat Charlotte. He needed an “IN”. It’s not like such people would want to get their fortune told; they were already well-off. It wasn’t until he saw the picture of Prince Naveen appeared in the papers did his light bulb go off. His shadow smiled sinisterly, and he began to read more about this prince, this broke prince, who was looking for a honey. What kind of a prince without money would look for a honey? Maybe he was looking for a honey with money, and the only hone with money is the diva Charlotte La Bouff who gets everything from her “Big Daddy”.
Meeting the boy was easy, as an outsider he was easy to captivate with a show of a card. With a smile and a few words, Dr. Facilier had them in his workshop, Prince Naveen and his valet, Lawrence. It seems luck was on his side, since the dreams on both men can work to his benefit. The Prince wants to be wealthy ever since his parents cut him off, and Lawrence loathed being used and wish to be an upper class man. With a shake of hands and his voodoo, Naveen became a frog. With a talisman, he took some of the prince’s blood. With this talisman, anyone who wears it can become the prince. Unfortunately, he can’t do voodoo for himself; it was a part of being a witch doctor.
So who would be his Prince Puppet? That’s where dear ole Lawrence comes in. After all, he wished he was in a social position as the prince, and this was his chance. Everything would’ve gone smoothly. Lawrence would marry Charlotte, grab some money, and split it with the doctor, but no. That clumsy valet can’t even keep up with a bloody frog. The blood in the talisman doesn’t last forever, and they would need to re-supply his blood. As a frog, it would be easily to grab and contain, but that was proved other wise.
Dr. Facilier went to his friends on the other side for aid; he couldn’t look all over New Orleans in limited time for a single frog. His friends on the other side weren’t pleased; the Doctor was doing more asking than giving. Dr. Facilier had a deal with them as well. He had to keep everything in their interest, or everything would be over for him. His soul and life depended on it. His proposal and smooth words pleased them greatly. If they help him find the frog, he would be able to be a wealthy man towering over New Orleans, and in exchange, they could feed off of every soul in the city. Loving the idea, shadows were summoned to aid him to hunt down Prince Naveen.
The spirits nearly had gotten a hold of him before an old voodoo witch casted light on them. The doctor would have to be patient, and Lawrence needed to sweep the desperate princess wanna-be Charlotte off her feet and propose before he reverts back to his normal chubby un-wealthy self. The spirits had to wait until Naveen was away from the safety of Mama Odie to strike again before taking him back to the doctor.
If they knew the story well, the frog Princess and the frog waitress would have to hop away from the bayou to find a princess to kiss. Fairytales on depends on such fact. Still they would have to leave New Orlean’s wilderness, where the Shadow Man’s minions lurked every shadowed corner. Since hopping would take forever, the spirits stalked closely behind the frogs, firefly, and gator to a boat. As soon as the prince frog was alone away from his love interest, the shadows snatched him away before depositing before the Shadow Man, Dr. Facilier, and his traitorous valet, Lawrence.
Grasping the frog, the doctor sampled his blood again in his talisman. The valet no longer had to struggle from hiding his true face from his future wife, Charlotte. This time they made sure he wont escape, since a simple cage didn’t worked efficiently. Naveen was locked a way in a golden chest, which laid behind the couple during their wedding in the Mardi Gra parade. With an arrival of an alligator crashing the parade and other chaos, Prince Naveen escaped his prison in a jewelry box. To make everything worse, Lawrence lose his amulet. The Witch Doctor kept a close eye on the firefly that flew away with his amulet.
It only angered him more to see the cursed fly toss of his talisman to another frog. Do they know how valuable it was? You break; you buy it, and the one who would pay for it dearly was the doctor’s soul.
Seeing the frog hop away, he glared down at the firefly who attempted to scare away his shadow friends by his bright light. With a step and a twist of his shoe, one problem was out of the way. Now he had to find this frog, this Tiana, to get his amulet back.
He needed to make sure he can get his trinket no matter what, and he didn’t need to provoke the high-strong woman either. To soothe and lure her, he cast a blanket of illusions around them. Tiana was human again surrounded by her dream of owning a restaurant. Once you dabbled with friends on the other side, digging into one’s mind was quite simple with magic. The icing on the cake was mentioning her late father; he knew it was a touchy subject, but it was worth it. He revealed and illuminated the possibilities of reach both hers and her fathers dream and proving all of those who laughed at her wrong. She was almost there, and he could bring her to it. All Tiana had to do was hand over his amulet.
Dr. Facilier should’ve done more homework on his new assignment. For this woman, the power of love was strong as it overpowered her own dream, and out of love, she crushed his one life-source. He was being dragged into oblivion and horrifically joined his friends on the others side with screams of terror. His face and name was left engraved on a grave marker.
--------------------------------- movie stuff ends-----------
His soul was bound to his friend, so only through them he would be free again. His lord and master was, his best friend, was the only one who can give him life on the other side. With a few sly words and promising to fulfill promises and desires, his best friend grinned with crookedly with two fangs peaking from his lower lip. Yellow eyes narrowed at the doctor wondering whether he should even make and complete the bargain, a deal with the devil.
Purple eyes watched his lord’s black horns sway as his muscular bald brows furrowed in a frown, “Fine, prepare the world on the other side for me. Bald Mountain is becoming far too bright. I want my Gems back as well.” He still remembered each and every one of them such as: Nani Pelekai the Topaz –who he had to fight his claim with an oversized alien beetle-, Esmeralda the Emerald –the firey victim-, Ariel the Sapphire- who was also a forbidden fruit thanks to Ursula’s ultimate protectiveness-, Jane Porter the Amber –the loudest screamer-, Alice Lidell the Lace Agate –who laughed at his name-, Vidia the Amethyst –the one he threatened to rip her wings apart-, and Pocahontas the potential Tiger’s Eyes. He admired terrorizing them by taking them on great flights before dropping them high in the air.
“I always want you to arouse the villains there, but I feel my old cult would be hard to revive.” The God of Death, Darkness, and Chaos wondered what happened to his beloved Queen Grimhilde, Ursula, Maleficent, and Lady Tremaine.
ambitions:
Dr. Facilier wishes to be a wealthy grand man with sorcery by his side; he was never one to admire poverty.
strengths && abilities: Dr. Facilier is a Voodoo Witch Doctor. With friends on the other side, he can achieve great heights like performing actual divinations, illusions, and granting wishes with a delicious devious twist. One can think of him as a dark genie with suave suit without a lamp. The only thing that holds him back his that he can’t do magic for himself, so it would only work on others hence why he isn’t a rich man by now.
flaws: Dr. Facilier’s mind is set on money and power, since that was everything he lacked as he grew up struggling. If only being partially royalty would matter. If only he had documentations. As a schemer, he would always have to plan and calculate, but with his friends on the other side being a stress factor, he can easily over look and under-estimate. The Witch Doctor is always seen with a smooth and calm demeanor; he always tries to avoid snapping.
likes: He likes to fulfill his dreams even if the route he’s taking may not be the best. Even if it was, he wouldn’t be able to find out through self-divinations, since his powers were limited from using for himself. He enjoys magical performances and entertainment, since they always tend to be his key to attracting costumers.
dislikes: He distastes those who squanders and flaunts their wealth as if everything is fine and dandy when the world around is dull with middle-class struggles. He HATES when things doesn’t turn his way, and useless counterparts. This is why he mainly works solo with his friends. The time he had an associate he couldn’t keep up with a single frog in a cage.
fears: He sincerely fears of upsetting his friends on the other side better yet Chernabog. They have far more power than he ever will, and the knowledge of not having control with sadistic beings made him nervous.
what makes this character unique: He calls himself a doctor without having an actual PHd. Who really ask about those things any way? He’s a skilled master mind, who should’ve been a lawyer versus a voodoo witch doctor.
RP SAMPLE: ----
“My all so omnipotent powerful friend,” Dr. Facilier started with a smile. It dropped when he saw the demon’s bare black back to him. His purple eyes narrowed before he continued, “I know I didn’t do so well the other time around, but I gots an idea that’s so profound.”
He pretended to busy himself with cleaning the ball of his cane until her head the titan groaned as he turned to him feeling the glow stare of bright dandelion yellow eyes.
“I,” he longated, “hope you don’t mind me with a few cards.” He cut some divination cards in his hand before having them float in an arch from one hand to another. Three in particular remained in the air as the rest formed a deck being held by three slim fingers. “Only three I need for you to see.”
“Now I know you hate it here in your mountainous hell cell,” the first card showed Chernabog being bound to the mountain during dawn to sunset. “But what if I can be your bail?”
Before the creature can show disdain, he spoke quickly to keep his attention, “Now think about it playboy,” he grabbed the second card before flipping it with two fingers easily showing himself, “You gots Dr. Facilier on your side.”
“Sure you can escape during your nightly ride, but the sunrise gonna come and you will hide.” Grabbing a business card out of his pocket, he sprinkled some dust on it before blowing purple hued smoke.
An illusions was formed of the large gargoyle harboring a new home to claim as his throne, “See if you had me, I can find a place for you to be free. A place that hardly ever ends; a place for you,” he leaned over seeing a pair of harpies lingering on his black shoulders, “and all of your friends.”
The third card tone with a gleam, “See if you had me you won’t have to clip your wings, and in a new world you can be the king. How do you like that oh magnificent one?”
He continued to warm a soft smile, but as he watched Chernabog think deeper his smile widened showing his gap. The gargoyle chuckled darkly as the Witch Doctor joined with him. “LET’S GET CRACKIN’!!!”
(I plan on reviving Chernabog later on. I hope this profile is worthy.)
