charrie basics.[/ul]
age: 28
species: Mouse
birthplace: London, England
movie: The Great Mouse Detective
title: Biographer
why: It's of interesting note the chemistry between Basil and his companion Dawson, much with the same similarity as Holmes and Watson alongside them and right next door. The imagination one can pull with them making note of their observations of their newfound location leads to limitless opportunities, and Dawson certainly wouldn't be afraid to voice his opinion on the situations that could arise from one point to the other.

charrie appearance[/ul]
facial description/mood expressions: Dawson usually finds himself quite astounded with Basil's uncanny ability in detective work; the element of surprise brings out shock with wild eyes - a concerned, scolding look denotes sincerity, a voice of reasoning on the matter at hand. Calm, serene, means respect for his companion in the business of sleuthing. A loyal friend at the heart of it all.
clothing style: During his regular travels, the plump old mouse would generally prefer his casual suit - a product of their time period. However, should he need to adapt to the situation and follow through with a plan Basil has on a mystery, it hasn't stopped him from dressing down to the slum of London's underground. A slight grey and purple coat to go along with a blue bowtie, green sweater underneath and blue pants; on some ocassions, he has been seen with a cap atop his head.
body build: Plump, but not obese, Dawson is agile nonetheless but probably a certain degree less than Basil. A fondness for various cheeses might help keep the good doctor going, though Dawson will certainly not be able to catch up in the most hostile moment. He is shorter than his co-hort, and for being a rodent, opportunities allow himself a good degree of protection. Of course, being small is not without it's flaws - as is being round, without a doubt.
any unique traits (optional) : An injury during his time of service in Afghanistan, leading to him having been discharged and sent back to London. He has since gotten better, but not without a light limp.

original charrie analysis. (everything must be in your own words! please be thorough.)[/ul]
Despite his faults, Dawson attempts to maintain a good relationship overall with the people he meets along the way. The sheer force of his incredible way of observing matters no matter how big or small has lead him to adapt a fond friendship, prompting him to continue being apart of the team. So far, in fact, to put them into writing.
history: As a young boy, Dawson had been a rather quiet boy - self-pride and a relunctance to relate to his fellow peers in class and eventually furthering his studies as he grew older. That isn't to say he wasn't without his companions and friends; he had several, a relatively small group with branching interests and only one of them following him onto the studies of chemistry. A good man indeed with a heart of gold, though often unwilling to listen to reason, of that in which he later matured through experiences with them as years gone by. Family conflicts in the form of his father's gradually declining health prompted the mouse to reconsider his decision with a future in 'complicated science' and eventually drop out of the classes altogether for a brief period, as his friends would later complete their terms without him - a decision he's cited as a turning point, not a regret.
Momentarily did he rejoin campus at the age of twenty-one and this time consider the field of medicine and the studies of the human body, it's concerns, and the people endowed. Citing his own father as the forerunner, who remained in bed throughout most of his later years, Dawson made a considerable amount of effort into his work to eventually take it upon himself to treat his father and eventually succeed in treating him. While not curing his illness, it did give his father several more years to live with proper care and treatment. At the recommendation of several friends he'd be reacquainted with, Dawson would later go on to serve as a medical assistant in the 66th Regiment in Afghanistan. He would return some time following that, though finding a place to stay would prove to be rather difficult. After several attempts to find a conveniant living space to his inquiry, failing to achieve one closer to his home, Dawson would finally accept an offer to join a young mouse named Basil on the lower corners of 221B Baker Street in need of a room mate.
Initially, the companionship had gone off to be quite well - not without it's oddities but certainly not enough to force the good doctor into leaving. As a private consulting detective, Basil had much to inform his newfound companion as to what it was he did and how he solved it. True, the impeccable thirst for observation and tactful deduction nearly spooked and horrified Dawson to a tee.
It wouldn't be until their first set of cases with the nefarious Professor Ratigan, a well-known name of all names in the city of London and amongst the mice and rodent commoners who live around the tangent, that the pairing would eventually come to be in an effort to bring justice against this criminal mastermind. For a time, the cases have ranged from hit or miss, leaving Ratigan the upper hand and Basil usually in a down-and-out mode, unable to continue. It wouldn't be until the young plea for help from one Olivia Flaversham, a young Scottish mouse, that Dawson is able to convince his room mate to consider taking the case up and redeem himself of this moment of dread and ignore most of the gloating the Professor tends to leave on himself, making a name for himself all throughout. It would be Dawson who, throughout providing his opinion and what he sees [but never an observation], to keep Basil in check before allowing Ratigan to mock him again. This comes in handy when a botched attempt to capture the fiend is thwarted, Basil's costume scoffed at, and nearly left for dead beside a Rube Goldberg-like device.
Ultimately, through the in's and out's of going undercover as sailors and rescuing Olivia and a battle atop the Big Ben in a final climactic showdown - are Basil and Dawson able to bring their criminal down and eventually the missing items stored in the wake of it all returned. It is here that Dawson is accepted as a partner for further adventures. With England at ease from the ill-will of Ratigan and his attempts to rule the land in it's entirety and his place over the Queen, peace is restored.
ambitions:
+ Simply as an aid and consultant of Basil the Great.
+ Biographer and observer of Basil's work; to appeal to the public.
strengths && abilities:
+ A skilled physician and doctor.
+ Capable, brave, intelligent individual.
+ Voice of reason to his partner's ego and declarations.
flaws:
+ Often bumbling, not quite one to follow Basil's reasoning at first.
+ Physical condition means Dawson is slow, not the athlete he may have been or during the war.
+ Rather soft, might be likely to be taken advantage of.
likes:
+ A wide variety of cheeses.
+ Quite fond of children, particularly Olivia Flaversham.
+ Basil in his best of moods, not to mention keen insight on matters.
+ The study of medicine, in particular.
dislikes:
+ Criminals, most notably Ratigan, Fidget, and so forth.
+ Basil in his worst of moods.
+ Cats.
fears:
+ Mostly Basil's well-being, as he is not fully capable of solving a case on his own without someone of his talents, especially in very tough times.
what makes this character unique: Dawson, although portrayed as a bit of a sap in the Disney cartoon as he was based quite like Nigel Bruce of the original classic films with Basil Rathbone, does have quite an appeal to him in which there's a lot more to him that can be brought about. He's somewhat had Basil rub off on him, which can provide, in my opinion, opportunities for him to observe the locations and interactions of various characters they're pitted against be it rodent or human, or any other animal. The connections to Dr. Watson are rather uncanny, even for Disney's sake.
RP SAMPLE: ----
((I had a bit of a tough time writing out his history and fleshing him out completely. ^^; It has been a little while since I owned the film and read the books. I did my best though, I hope what I wrote is considerable to be apart of the role-play here. ^^))
IC:
The wide world of the Disney certainly astounded the good doctor, to the point he could remain there standing as the twilight sky settled upon the Magic Kingdom. Being a small mouse and just a tiny speck in comparison to the humans he was likely to meet, the other bolder creatures he may eventually entangle with the best of, it was truly an amzing adventure lying down in front of him. However, if there was any sort of person who could make more of a presence than his own, it was undoubtedly his companion Basil - whom, as of late, he couldn't seem to find at the moment. Rubbing his temples, placing his small light purple cap away from his round forehead at the moment, he finally placed it on and emitted a slight huff in the cold winds that particular night. It was getting dark, and soon, he'd have to rely on temporary outings.
Hands in his coat and making his way towards the venue, Dawson made his way towards the entrance - pausing once more to grasp it all. The adventures he would soon log, from beginning to end, would undoubtedly make quite a presence to future readers back home once it had all been said and done. It all seemed daunting to the poor little man, at first, but rest assured - it could fade in a good while. For now, he had better seek shelter: food notwithstanding, he was rather hungry - he had not had a single bite to eat, and not yet had he truly met anyone. After rubbing his nose, he would stop again. He could go for anying right now as far as cheese was considered - and maybe a nice glass of Rodent's Delight. It was a rather nice drink, truth be told.
Towards the entry way stood what looked like a recently opened brochure that had been abandoned. Whoever had used it certainly had a heck of a time opening it, going so far as to leaving certain moments of trash to hold them steady - perhaps...
"word...!"
A slight shrill in his voice; a sense of happiness, but in an immediate turn, worry.
"Basil! Basil, he's here! BASIL!" he would shout, ignoring the map entirely of the theme park complex - eventually running into the darkness blindly, not expecting the dangers that would soon come to pass being so out in the open as such. To the screams of a mouse who sounded almost nearly paranoid at this hour, the eyes around him began to look. Something gave him the odd feeling he was being watched-- a very bad feeling, one that stemmed down to his heart. After running, he finally slowed down to a stop, the weight down upon him making him breath heavily.
((I was gonna wait for approval before getting the account set-up. ^^; Hope it's good, feel free to assist me in anything I need to know. =D))
