“Let’s hope this place’s as stable as it looks,” she muttered hopelessly, trudging forth with a dismal frown on her dour face. The days were usually bitter for her, but the creeping evening seemed like a time to enjoy the fresh breeze and the soothing rays of moonlight that greeted her casual frame so. She caught sight of the towering door and gave it the gentlest push she could muster as it permitted her presence with the softest moan and with the loudest clutter to ever pile before her.
Her chocolate-brown eyes widened at the mess; her cautious approach signified with uneven, careful steps, now alarmed was the Hawaiian that all wasn’t secure. The whirling torment did havoc on this building but not as badly as the other ones. This place would be her provisional home, however, the thought that there were other people in this place made her feel somewhat hopeful if not fearful.
Nani quietly hummed uneasily into the night air as she went up the steps, making a few turns before getting to the second floor, where she’d discover a row of potential rooms for her choosing. It seemed the premises had been abandoned during the storm and left to rot in its ominous glory, only to remain a dwelling for the few now-homeless civilians, like the wandering Polynesian.
She wandered like a ghost through the hall, the shattered window glistening from the moon’s ivory beam that would caress her imminent features the further she went. Dimly-lit, her eyes were able to adjust to the hotel’s dark surroundings.
After an hour of aimless roving, she pressed her back to the wall whilst suppressing a shuddery sigh. Exhausted from a day’s nomadic travel from park to park, she was able to rest without a shred of doubt that this was the most stable building she’d seen so far.
Nani turned her head to the door next to her, and opening the door did she make out a furnished room with remarkable décor, as if newly-erected just for her eyes. She wandered in cautiously before plopping herself on the bed for a good sleep.
Within seconds, a sharp snore could be heard, and, with a kick, did she send a pillow flying. She had a tendency to move in her sleep - a lot.
