why: Ariel's always been my favorite of the Disney princesses. I love her personality, her bright red hair and she sings my favorite Disney song! Plus mermaids are way cool in my book!
[/ul][/ul]
charrie appearance[/ul]
facial description/mood expressions: Ariel's facial expressions are a huge part to her character, since through half of her film, she can't speak! Ariel usually has a smile on her face, being a pretty happy person. When excited, her blue eyes get very wide. When sad, she'll naturally frown and her brow will lower. Being curious, she will also typically wear an expression of curiosity, mainly told through her eyes. Also being a dreamer, she'll often daydream and imagine, so her expression can often tell of a sort of longing to be far off.
clothing style: As a mermaid, Ariel typically wears a purple seashell bra that contrasts with her green tail. When on land, she likes to wear dresses that the human girls wear. And she'll sometimes put some human-like accessories in her hair, such as a bow.
body build: Ariel is an average height for a teenage girl, or a teenage mermaid. She is slim, but being a girl, she has curves along her figure.
any unique traits (optional) : Ariel's unique hair color is an interesting trait. She gets the color from her mother, and seems to stand out even more with this shade of red.

original charrie analysis. (everything must be in your own words! please be thorough.)[/ul]
Ariel is a very different sort of mermaid, compared to most others. She stands out from the crowd quite a lot with what she likes and what she hopes to do in life. She is most known for her cuiosity. She has a bit of an obsession with the human world and all about it. She has a grotto filled with items she found that were dropped from ships and such. She learns about these items due to her friend Scuttle, the seagull who claims to know all about these items that she finds and brings to him. Ariel is very rebellious against her father due to the fact that she does go to the surface, against his wishes and tends to break several of his rules. Either that or she will forget to show up to things that she is supposed to be at, such as the concert. Her curiosity with the human world and all of these things causes much trouble for Ariel.
Ariel is also very headstrong. She doesn't think things through and she always acts based on impulse or what she wants to do. Her curiosity also has an impact on the fact that she is very naive. She can be selfish when she is only thinking about herself. This can be seen when she makes the deal with Ursula the Sea Witch to trade her voice so she can get legs and walk on the surface. She had no idea of the danger that she was putting herself in or the people around her. Despite this, Ariel is still a very nice and caring girl. She cares deeply for her family and friends. Even if she does put them into some danger due to the fact that she is looking for herself and what she wants, she still tries to help them and make a correction in her wrongs. She knows that she wouldn't be anywhere without the protection of her friends and tries to do the same, by looking out for them as well.
history:
Ariel was born has the youngest daughter to King Triton and Queen Athena. When she was younger, she had great times with her family. Her sisters, her mother and her father used to always have fun together, especially with music. Music was always playing in the kingdom, as it was a strong love of the Queen of the kingdom. Athena seemed to provide all of the laughter and smiling faces in the kingdom with her bright personality. Though this would all change one day when the Queen was lost to them, due to her being hit by a pirate ship causing her to die. The whole kingdom mourned her, espcially King Triton. All music was banned from the kingdom as it reminded him of her.
As Ariel grew older, she grew tired of all her father's strict rules and doing the same thing everyday. Her attitude started coming in at this point, and she would talk back often, causing her to get in trouble quite frequently with her father. She would also meet her best friend, Flounder when she heard him playing music. Ariel grew very curious as she hadn't heard music in such a long time. She liked the sound of the music though it did get her and Flounder in trouble. Ariel managed to wiggle her friend out of trouble though with a quick excuse. Later on, she would find him swimming to a night club, and be quite surprised to see Sebastian running it. She was inducted into the club and her sisters soon found out about it and also wanted to come along and hear the music.
Everyone was having fun, that is until Marina Del Ray came and ratted the club out to King Triton. It was shut down and all of the band members were put in jail, including Sebastian. Marina was given his job. Ariel and her sisters grew quite disappointed, and Ariel couldn't stand not living in a world without music. She ran away with the band and they came to a place of nothing for the most part. Ariel at first thought that it was nothing until she caught sight of something. She found the music box that belonged to her mother. She got the idea of bringing it to her father, in hope that it would remind him of music, and how great that it was to hear it. On her way back though, she ran into something set up by Marina as a plan to get rid of both her and Sebastian. A pack of dangerous eels that attacked the group. They managed to beat the eels and Marina lost her job.
Ariel gave the music box to her father and he heard the song of Athena. He was reminded of what it was like back them and how important it was to keep music in the kingdom. The ban of music was broken and the happiness of music filled the kingdom once again.
One year after all of this, Ariel developed an obsession with the human world. She collected items that she found in the water and put them in her grotto, after getting a definition of each object from her friend Scuttle, who was a seagull. She believed that he knew a lot about them since he was in the surface and claimed to see a lot of humans. Ariel became a bit more distant with her family, due to the fact that she was always running around and to the surface looking for the human objects. She missed a concert she was supposed to sing in due to the fact that she went to the surface to see what Scuttle would make of it. She was scolded and her father found out that she had been to the surface and was furious with her. Ariel gets quite upset, wishing that he would understand how she felt about it.
Soon after, Ariel and Flounder go to the surface and see a celebration of the birthday of Prince Eric. Ariel caught sight of him and she falls in love with him right away. When a storm comes and knocked Eric off the ship, Ariel saved Eric and she brings him to the surface after singing him. Ariel became very obsessed with Eric, and is a lovesick puppy most of the time. After Flounder found a statue of Eric, Ariel brought it to her grotto. Soon after Triton comes and Ariel revealed her love for Eric. In anger, he destroyed her whole grotto and all of her human items, with his trident. While crying, two eels confront Ariel telling her about Ursula who could "help" her. Ariel, desparate for any option, follows them.
Once confronting the sea witch, she learned that she has a spell that can make Ariel a human. And she would stay one permanently, if she gets the kiss of true love before the sun sets on the third day. Ariel jumped on the offer quickly, though she has to give her voice as payment. She is hesitant, but gives in after being convinced. She went to the surface, struggling on her legs and runs into Eric. He recognized her but is disappointed when she can't speak. Ariel is taken in by him. She tried hard to kiss him and even gets help from Sebastian, though Ursula foiled that attempt also. Ursula, being afraid of Ariel getting the kiss, transformed into a young women and uses a spell to make Eric fall in love with her. One morning, Scuttle comes to Ariel and congratulated her about a wedding. Ariel immediately thought she was going to marry Eric. She ran down the stairs eagerly, only shocked by what she saw. Shocked and heartbroken to see Eric wanting to marry another woman, she ran off in tears. She had no idea it was actually Ursula in disguise though.
Scuttle seaw Vanessa's reflection being the sea witch and the spell is revealed. He told Ariel and the others. They quickly stop the wedding and just as Ariel is about to kiss Eric, the sun sets. Ariel is dragged back down by Ursula as she belonged to her now. Triton comes to stop it and makes a deal, trading his place for Ariel's. Ursula got the trident and goes mad with her power. She becomes huge, attempting to destroy Ariel and Eric. Eric drives his ship into her, killing Ursula once and for all. Triton got his power back and all returns to normal. Ariel though, is upset with being a mermaid again. Triton noticed this and he decided that he wants her to be happy. He used the trident to give her legs and she returns to Eric. They were married soon after this, though Ariel knew she wasn't going to leave Atlantica and her family behind/

what makes this character unique:
Ariel is unique to me because she was the first Disney princess to have that 'independent' streak, and started a trend for the new Disney heroines. I love her curiosity and personality. She is just beyond adorable. Her character design has always been unique to me, mainly with that awesome red hair. She is just so 1980's, and I just love that aspect. I also love her singing voice, and she sings one of my favorite Disney songs. Ariel will always be special to me in my heart, along with so many other Disney characters.
RP SAMPLE: ----
The rambunctious teenage mermaid was very cofused at the moment. One minute ago, she had been doing some exploring with Flouder. Mainly looking for some human things, to add in her grotto. She wore the orange bag on her shoulder, a small collection of things she found in it. But it was quite odd. Ariel had swam ahead of Flounder due to him being so paranoid. Being a guppy as usual. She was exploring a sunken ship and had to go up and under quite a few things. After going under and very deep under, she noticed a change in the waters. She wasn't in the same place that she had been in before. The water felt much more shallow, wherever she was. And in most cases. Some sunlight would come in the ocean, givig a bit of light. But here all she saw was darkness. Maybe it was night wherever she was. Though that made no sense to the mermaid, as it was day just before. She figured that she had to take the risk of swimmig up to the surface to seeing where she was.
Quickly making her way to the top, Ariel's bright blue eyes searched around attempting to figure out where she was. It was almost like she was inside of a place. She could't see the sky at all, just this strange thing that she was currently in. It was sort of odd to her, but at the same time very exciting. Ariel was always looking to go on adventures and whatnot. She was a bit nervous about how she would get back home to Atlantica, but also very excited about what may happen here. She was always quick to get excited, and express it. She wondered if perhaps any humans would be around here. This would be a great chance to finally meet one. The young mermaid looked both ways unsure which way to go. She decided to swim toward the right, keeping her eyes out for anyone or anything.
She paused whe she heard something splashing. She recognized it as a boat with paddles. Many humas tended to use those. She then was able to catch sight of the boat. She panicked and went under the water stayig put for the moment. The boat was quite small from what she could tell. Probably only one person in it. Maybe she could talk to them! Ariel was often very naive like this, not recognizing any danger. Her excitement got the best of her and she couldn't just sit still. She quietly swam under the water toward the boat, making sure not to be seen by the person just yet.
Ariel lost sight of the boat for a moment, and when she went to move further up toward the surface a loud thud was heard. She had banged her head on the boat by accident. "Owww..." She said out loud as she rubbed the back of her red head. She panicked for the moment. What if the humna had heard her?! He had certainly heard the thud as it hit the boat, but if he heard her or not was the main thing she wanted to know. She wasn't sure whether she should be scared or happy. The mermaid was currently feeling both emotions at the moment. This could be her first chance to have a conversation with a human, but it could also be dangerous for her. She stayed put for the moment not sure what to do. Soon enough he would see her in the shallow water though. The boat would have to pass over her sooner or later.
