charrie basics.[/ul]
age: 161, appears 19
species: Human/Ghost
birthplace: Thunder Mesa
ride: Phantom Manor
title: "Beauty once lived in this house..."
why: I chose Melanie, because I’ve loved her character for a long time. Phantom Manor has been something I enjoy for three years, and I have no intent of ending that. I find it easy to get into her character, and am currently writing a fanfiction dealing with Phantom Manor, which will aid me in exploring her character.

charrie appearance[/ul]
facial description/mood expressions: Melanie’s face is heart-shaped, with large, almost doe-like, dark green eyes. Her lips are full and a soft pink color. Her expression is usually one of wariness, coming from spending decades in the manor being chased and haunted by her father’s spirit. Her green eyes dart around the area from time to time, trying to catch anyone who might be coming for her. When in the presence of her fiancé, her expression is calmer, happier. A small smile graces her lips and her eyes have a sparkle to them.
When angered, Melanie’s face changed entirely. She clenches her teeth and her eyes narrow. At times, her lips pull back ever so slightly in a kind of human snarl.
clothing style: After spending decades in an uncomfortable wedding dress, Melanie’s clothing style is mainly for comfort. Her clothes are often modern with slight period influence. She’s not afraid to leave the world of skirts and dresses behind for more modern apparel. The only thing that hasn’t changed from her past is her golden heart locket, a present from her fiancé.
body build: Slender and curvy

original charrie analysis. (everything must be in your own words! please be thorough.)[/ul]
All in all, Melanie’s a kind person, ready to help anyone who needs it. Growing up spoiled by her parents created a headstrong and rebellious streak, for she always wanted to get out from under their control. After being haunted and stalked by her father’s ghost for so long, she’s wary of her surroundings, and of people she’s never met before. In time, she’ll warm up to you, but only if you’ve proven yourself. Towards those she knows and trusts, she’s very warm and caring. She loves her fiancé more then anything else and is quite afraid of losing him again
history: include the character's role in the film, as well as any prior or aftermath events that are necessary - don't be afraid to make up anything as long as it does not contradict the canon history!
Born in 1849, Melanie was raised in luxury. Her father, Henry Ravenswood was the mayor of the town they lived in, Thunder Mesa. She lost her mother at a very young age, and was raised mostly by her father, who treated her like a princess. He wanted nothing but the best for her, but often repressed his daughter, making decisions. This frustrated her to no end, for all she wanted was to get out from under his thumb and live her own life.
When the time came for Melanie to be married, her father tried to set her up with a few rich young men who lived in the area. Melanie wouldn’t have them, instead getting engaged to a young man who worked on her father’s railroad. The two had secretly been seeing each other for the past year or so, and had fallen deeply in love. Melanie’s fiancé planned to move away from Thunder Mesa after the two had gotten married. This angered Henry to no end, and he vowed he would stop the wedding at all costs.
Unfortunately, a few days before the wedding, a terrible earthquake struck the town, completely devastating it. Henry was killed in the earthquake, but both Melanie and her fiancé survived. Melanie was devastated at her father’s death, and pushed the wedding back to allow herself some time to deal with her grief. However, this was all Henry needed.
Melanie’s father returned from the realm of the dead in the form of the Phantom, for not even death itself could stop him from stopping his daughter’s wedding. On the day of the wedding, the Phantom kidnapped Melanie’s suitor from his room, where he was preparing and dragged him to the portrait gallery, hanging him from the rafters. He sealed the body away, forever preventing Melanie from finding out what truly happened to her would-be husband.
Melanie never believed for a second that her fiancé would jilt her for another woman. Something must have happened to him, and she knew that he would return to her someday. Melanie became obsessed with finding him, waiting in the manor for his return, still wearing her wedding dress. One by one, the servants left convinced the young mistress had gone insane. Melanie died a year later, for she ate little and slept less.
Like her father’s determination to stop her wedding, Melanie’s determination carried into death, causing her to remain in the manor as a ghost as well. For decades, she was locked away, forced to stay in the manor for all eternity. Soon, her father revealed to her what he had done, but Melanie could do nothing about it. She was trapped in the manor forever, or so she thought. As time passed, some of Henry’s humanity returned, and he saw the pain he was causing his own daughter. He had kept the spirit of his would-be son in law in the manor, but with no way to communicate with Melanie. Making a final decision, Henry lifted the curse on his daughter, allowing her to be reunited with her beloved fiancé once again.

what makes this character unique:
Melanie is not the average Disney girl. Her story originally didn’t have a happy ending, but I’ve given her once here. She’s kind and caring, but has flaws that make her human. Melanie is one of the most unknown Disney characters, but she deserves more attention, because she’s a great character.
RP SAMPLE: ----
Sunlight filtered through the dusty window, illuminating a medium sized bedroom, with a double bed placed prominently in front of a large picture window. The figure of a young woman stirred on the bed, the light beginning to hit her face. Melanie opened her eyes and blinked before closing her eyes again. She had nowhere to be, she might as well sleep in. She’d never been able to when she was alive, and now decided to treat herself now that she was running her own life. Melanie rolled over and opened her eyes again, expecting to see the sleeping form of her fiancé beside her, but found it empty. Melanie’s heart picked up a little speed, but she calmed down, telling herself that Lawrence must have woken up early and was probably waiting for her downstairs. Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, Melanie stood up, letting out a small yawn. Without bothering to change, she started to make her way down to the dining room. Her heart picked up again as she walked through the dark hallways, bristling like a cat. Her green eyes darted around, and she was tense, ready from something to spring out at her. However, it never came, and Melanie reached the dining room without anything attacking her.
The dining room was empty, not even the servants were around. Nervously, Melanie brushed a stray bit of auburn hair behind her ear. Melanie decided that she’d have to go look in the town to see if anyone there knew what was going on. She walked to the foyer and shoved the heavy wooden door open. The sun shone brightly, flooding the grounds with light. Stepping onto the porch, Melanie noticed that the entire town was silent, which was odd. Normally, a few of the spirits of Thunder Mesa were up this early, starting their days. A few noises were sure to drift up to the manor’s grounds, but today it was dead quiet. Melanie walked down to the town, starting to enjoy the day a little, assuring herself that she’d find Lawrence somewhere. Of course, the last time she’d told herself that…no. He’d be in the town, Melanie was sure of it.
As she reached the main street, Melanie realized that something was very, very wrong. The buildings were the same, but the things inside them were quite different. They were now shops, selling t-shirts and little stuffed mice. Melanie picked one up from a bin outside one of the buildings, examining it with interest. The stuffed creature was wearing a pair of bright red pants with big yellow buttons. She put it back in it’s original place, and continued to look around, her heart now thudding in confusion.
Suddenly, she spotted a building she recognized, and breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, something she recognized. The Lucky Nugget Saloon looked pretty much unchanged, and Melanie took the doorknob and tried to turn it. The knob was unyielding, but that wouldn’t stop her. Melanie walked right through the door, using her ghostly abilities. “Lawrence?” she called hesitantly into the darkness. Only silence answered her. Melanie was starting to tremble. Where was everyone? Suddenly, the sound of voices began to echo around the town outside. Melanie dashed to the door, expecting to see the familiar faces of the ghosts, but instead she saw an entirely new world.
