Birthplace: The wild, wild west.
Movie: Home on the Range (2004)
Title: The real rip-roarin’ deal to those who moo.
Why: Slim isn’t my all-time favourite character, but I do like him a lot. Probably because I’m in love with his song and I think he’s very unique for a bad guy.

Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)[/ul]
Facial description/mood expressions: Slim has large grey bags under his murky-green eyes. He sports a long angular moustache and a long messy goatee, both the same colour as his hair. His mouth is rather large compared to his face. He’s usually grumpy or angry, and his face turns red when he’s mad or exerting a lot of energy.
Clothing style: Throughout the film Slim is shown in three different outfits. A very large brown coat, which in turn covers his yodelling attire, a very bright and flashy orange sparkly shirt with red frills and a blue tie. He also wears a disguise to make people believe he’s an upstanding landowner named “Yancy O’Del”, and it consists of a hat, spectacles, a suit and a blue bowtie. He always wears gloves and is often seen with a Stetson hat.
Body build: Slim has an extraordinarily large body compared to his head and legs. He’s obese, and is described by his nephews as having “XXXXL chaps.”

Original character analysis. (Everything must be in your own words! Please be thorough.)[/ul]
Most of the time he is either grumpy or frustrated, mainly due to his three nephews’ lack of brain cells. He tends to laugh at times when he’s happy, but yells when he’s angry. He says he’s been described as “mean” and “depraved and nasty”, but he claims his yodelling is the cruellest thing about him.
History: Alameda Slim was born on a minute dirt farm in the wild West. His mother died in childbirth, leaving him, his brother Gerald and his father to scrape by on whatever little they could grow.
Alameda developed a love for music at an early age, when he convinced his father to buy him a guitar. When not working hard on the ranch, young Alameda liked nothing more than to sit on the porch and make music. He dreamed of becoming a country singer, and believed that was the way he could earn the money to let his family live in comfort.
However, when Alameda was seventeen his father died of an illness, leaving him and Gerald to fend for themselves in this harsh world. After he died, the brothers couldn’t afford to keep the farm. Gerald worked as a farm hand while Alameda himself went to pursue his dream.
After years of trying and failing, Alameda eventually faced the truth and bitterly accepted his dream was never going to come true. He joined his brother as a farm hand on one of the largest ranches in the West, Harvie Hill.
During his time on the range, Alameda discovered a new talent. To pass the gruelling hours, he started to yodel to take his mind off the work. Unfortunately for him and his brother, the owner couldn’t appreciate his talent and sent them both packing.
This was repeated on each ranch they managed to secure a job at, until they’d been kicked off of almost every ranch in the West. By this time Gerald was a father of three triplets, Bill, Gil and Phil. His lover had left him after four happy years together, deciding she couldn’t cope with moving up and down the country looking after three boys.
Alameda and Gerald decided to take shifts. One stayed and looked after the boys while the other worked.
On the boys’ eleventh birthday, Alameda received news that his brother had been killed by a rampaging horse while at work. This broke Alameda’s heart. His brother, whom he had grown up with and endured so many hardships with, was gone.
After a low-budget ceremony on the ranch, Alameda resumed his yodelling. But this time, all his emotions were poured into those notes. All the cows around him listened, as if under a trance. This was not the case for the other workers though, who complained to the boss. The next day, Alameda was told to leave. That did it for poor Alameda.
He came up with a plan. Using all the remaining money he had, Alameda purchased a buffalo named Junior for he had a fear of horses brought upon by his brother’s tragic death. He rode with his gormless nephews to an old abandoned mine and there proceeded to teach them everything he knew that would help him achieve his ambition – to rustle all those stuck-up land owners’ cattle and using the money to buy it when it goes up for auction.
After many long gruelling months of training (for the boys weren’t very bright), Slim decided they were ready. Armed with only a guitar and his voice, Slim managed to successfully rustle 100 cattle on his first attempt using his new power. He managed to sell of the newly acquired herd to Mr. Westly, a peculiar little man he’d made contact with on the black market.
After that he poor owner of that farm couldn’t afford to keep the place. The farm went on auction, and Slim (using his disguise) bought the farm with the money from his previous herd of cattle under the name Yancy O’Del, a notorious land owner.
This event was repeated over and over, until Alameda Slim had a rather large bounty of $400 on his head. One night, out yodelling, Slim was apprehended by a corrupt bounty hunter by the name of Rico. Slim managed to persuade Rico to work with him, sharing the profit of the rustling if Rico promised to keep the law off Slim’s trail.
Years passed, and “Yancy O’Del” had come to possess most of the land in the West. The bounty on Slim’s head was now $750. Slim had managed to successfully steal 5000 cattle in a single night. Or so he thought. 4997!? No, that couldn’t be right! Just as he was about to order Gil to recount, he spotted a stray cow up there on the tracks. To his surprise, the cow didn’t respond to his hypnotic yodelling and just walked right on by, as did the heifer that followed.
Determined to prove his skills to the sceptical Mr. Westly, Slim tracked down the cows, took a deep breath, and yodelled until he was red in the face. It seemed to be working, but the Willie Brothers’ cries of alarm took the crook’s attention. Turning around swiftly, Slim stopped the mine cart in its tracks.
“Gotcha!” Slim announced triumphantly. “Where do you think you’re goin’?” Trying to intimidate the bovine, Slim forgot about the other two, who proceeded to ram his backside with their horns. With a howl, Slim jumped in pain and surprise, right into the cart. “What in the rootin’-tootin’ blazes in goin’ on here!?” Slim cried, as a one-legged jack rabbit tied the bandit’s arms and legs together with a length of rope. Slim struggled to escape, but the strange rabbit rendered him unconscious with a pan.
The first thing Slim noticed when he came to was the massive steam train thundering towards the cart. With a wail of terror, Slim could only watch as the cart collided head first with the train.
The cart flipped off the track with Alameda still inside it and landed upside down. With a roar, Slim smashed his way out of the cart and forcefully wrestled the meddling cows to the ground where he tied a rope around their necks and let his nephews deal with the rest. He had more important things to worry about. Such as revenge. Saddling up Junior and changing into his disguise, “Yancy O’Del” rode off into the distance with a case of money tucked under his arm.
"Ha ha, pleasure doin' business with you." Slim said, proudly strolling up to the Sam, dumping the bag of cash on the stand in front of the Sheriff.
As Slim prepared to sign the deed, he heard a faint rumbling sound from the horizon, slowly drawing nearer. The ruffian looked up, and to his horror saw a steam train hurtling towards the farm. (Déjà vu )
The train eventually came to a halt in the vegetable patch, throwing up a cloud of smoke and dust. Spluttering, Slim angrily called out to the driver, "What's the idea, crashin' your train on my property!?"
It couldn't be. With a look of shock upon his face, Alameda watched as three heifers stepped out of the wreck. The same three that had caused him so much trouble back at Echo Mine. They stood there, cattle and rustler, facing each other. Neither moved, until the large brown one in the middle started to charge, the others following behind her.
"Hold it right there!" Slim said menacingly, pulling out a revolver and aiming it at the cows. As he cocked the gun, he suddenly became bombarded with an assortment of tin cans, knocking the weapon from his grasp.
Helpless, Slim went under assault from all sorts of farmyard critters, until he ended up being kicked into the funnel of the train, where a blast of steam caused his hat and spectacles to fly off.
The Sheriff arrested Alameda Slim and the crook was dragged off to jail.

What makes this character unique: In my opinion, Slim plays the character of a villain very well. While some may not consider him in the ranks of ones such as Maleficent or Frollo, his job was to be comedic while still being able to be convincing enough as a bad guy. And seriously, what could be more unique than a fat middle-aged prancing around in skin-tight flashy clothes hypnotising herds of cattle with mind-controlling yodelling?
RP SAMPLE: The rock crashed to the ground, cutting off the entrance to the path between the two cliffs. Alameda Slim had never doubted his own abilities, and today was no exception. A bellowing laugh escaped from his mouth, partially from the adrenaline and partially because he’d achieved what he’d set out to accomplish.
“Well boys, what did I tell ya? Lookit that over there, five-thousand cattle, just like I said I would.” Grinning widely, Slim gestured with his hand to the line of cattle blindly marching along, trapped within the music in their heads. The Willie Brothers clapped frantically, fearing their Uncle would get mad if they did otherwise. The pioneer Pied-piper tipped his wide-brimmed hat smugly. ”Thank you, thank you.”
His thoughts drifted back to just moments before. He knew he was safe. If anyone could keep the do-gooders off his scent, it was Rico. That varmint was the greatest partner a fella like him could have. Still, it was a pity he charged such a high price. Eh, what does it matter? Slim thought to himself. He’s the best of the god-darn best. The villain glanced over at Gil, who had fallen off his horse. Slim gave a deep sigh, then yelled, ”Git yer rump back in that saddle, ya pea-brained twit!” The youth hastily obliged. Slim rubbed his temples, exasperated. Of all the men in the West he had to be laboured with these three. Nevertheless, they managed to get the job done. That was one advantage they had; loyalty. Anything Slim said, they would do without hesitation. The rustler smirked at the thought.
”Okay boys, clear the way. We’re headin’ straight back t’ Echo Mine, y’hear? If I have to stop for anythin’…” Slim let his threat hang, knowing his fierce expression would say the rest.
The boys responded in unison, all urging their steeds on and riding to the head of the herd. Slim grinned wickedly, pulled out his guitar and proceeded to play, guiding the stolen cattle with his enchantments underneath the crescent moon.
