Character basics
Character name: Kiara
Age: 8
Species: Lion
Birthplace: Pride Rock
Movie: Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride
Custom title: More than just a princess
Why: Simba’s Pride has been my favorite Disney movie for a long time. Like, maybe sixteen years or so. Anyway, I couldn’t tell you the reason why, exactly, it’s my favorite movie, just that it is.
Who's the fairest of them all?
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description: Kiara’s fur is a pale gold in color, a mix of her father's darker gold and her mother's light, creamy tan. Her muzzle, paws, and belly are lighter. At the tip of her tail is a creamy brown tuft of fur.
Facial description/mood/expressions: Kiara’s eyes match her father’s: a reddish brown. She has a somewhat expressive face, but she usually has an excited or playful look.
Clothing style:As a lion, Kiara doesn’t wear clothes except on very special occasions. And on those special occasions, she wishes for nothing more than for the occasion to be over, so she can get out of the clothes.
Body build: Kiara is rather small for a lioness, but she is nimble, agile, and swift. She takes after her mother: sleek and lithe. She also shows the standard strength of a lioness, despite her size.

Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality: As a cub, Kiara was hard-headed and rebellious, much like her father was when he was younger. Her rebelliousness often gets her into trouble. But she's good-hearted, and non-judgmental. As an adult, she hasn’t changed much, except to be perhaps less cautious about rebelling from her overprotective father. Despite her father’s slightly controlling behavior, she has a very optimistic view of life. She knows that her father worries about her, but she still desires independence and will do whatever she can to show him that. Kiara is loyal and caring, though she can be bratty at times.
History: Kiara grew up in the Pride Lands, much as her father, Simba, had before the wildebeest accident. One day, she escaped Timon and Pumbaa’s watch and ran into a strange cub, an Outsider cub. Her father had warned her about Outsiders, saying they couldn't be trusted. They had a run-in with crocodiles, and as a team, escaped the swamp. After introducing themselves, Kiara tried to teach Kovu how to play tag. By the time he started to pick up on how to play, their parents showed up. Simba and Zira took Kiara and Kovu, their respective cubs, back to their respective dens.
Under the constant watch of Zazu, Timon, and Pumbaa, Kiara grew into a beautiful lioness, albeit one of the smallest in the pride. On the day of her first hunt, she made her father promise to let her do things on her own. He promised, and she ran off. But things didn’t go as she planned. The herd of antelope she was stalking kept moving on; she was klutzy, stepping on twigs, scattering stones… She would never admit it, but she wasn’t the best huntress.
Things took a turn for the worse (which Kiara hadn’t thought was possible) when she found Timon and Pumbaa following her. She left the Pride Lands, intending to finish her hunt away from her father’s watchful gaze. However, things didn’t get any better, as a fire swept the plains. Kiara collapsed, watching a figure approach her before passing out.
When she awoke, she was back in the Pride Lands, courtesy of Kovu. Simba showed up at that point, and Rafiki, an old friend of the family, pointed out that Kovu had saved Kiara’s life. Kovu asked Simba for permission to join the pride. Simba decided to reserve judgment in favor of getting to know Kovu better. They returned to Pride Rock for the night. Before turning in, Kiara spoke with Kovu about hunting, and he told her he could teach her a thing or two, or twenty. She agreed to meet him the following morning for a lesson.
The morning of the lesson, Kiara was still struggling. According to Kovu, she was breathing too hard, among other things. He gave her a demonstration, and pounced on Timon. The meerkat reassured Kiara that he and Pumbaa weren't following the princess, but were just there for the bugs. Together, Kiara and Kovu helped Timon and Pumbaa, chasing birds. Kiara had turned the training lesson into a bout of fun. They ran straight into a herd of rhinos, and went from chasing, to being chased. After rounding a corner, they hid in a crevice. Instead of Kovu teaching Kiara how to hunt, Kiara had taught Kovu how to have fun.
Later that night, Kiara and Kovu watched the stars in the sky, finding shapes, like Kiara did when she was younger. Rafiki showed up out of nowhere and told the two lions about Upendi, which Kiara figured out means "love". They returned to Pride Rock, and Kiara realized just how she felt about the former Outsider.
The following morning, Simba took Kovu away from Pride Rock to talk. Kiara waited impatiently for them to return. After what felt like days, but was really just a few hours, Simba limped into view. Kiara, Timon, Pumbaa, and Zazu raced to see what was wrong. While Zazu fetched some help, Simba told Kiara that Kovu had ambushed him. Kiara refused to believe it, knowing that there had to be some other explanation. When Kovu arrived later, Simba passed judgment: exile.
Kiara was heartbroken. She watched, helpless, as the animals of the Pride Lands chased Kovu out of sight. Simba ordered that she remain at Pride Rock; if for whatever reason she left Pride Rock, she was to have an escort. Kiara ran to the back of the cave, sobbing. Through her grief, she found an opening, and escaped Pride Rock.
Kiara searched for Kovu for hours. She found him, late into the night. They rejoiced in having found one another. Kovu suggested they run away, start a new pride. Kiara realized that they had to return to their prides, or the warring would never end. Kovu reluctantly agreed.
Rain started pouring down as Kiara and Kovu made their way back to Pride Rock. They found the Pridelanders and the Outsiders fighting, and intervened. Kiara made her father realize that the Outsiders were just like the Pridelanders. There were no differences. Simba realized his mistake as Vitani, Kovu's sister, and the other Outsider lionesses turned against Zira. Zira lunged to attack Simba, but Kiara leapt to block her. They tumbled down towards the riverbank, which was flowing with fierce water. Not one to judge, and one to see the goodness in everyone, Kiara reached to save Zira from falling into the river. Zira swiped a paw at Kiara, before falling into the river.
Simba acknowledged that he had been wrong to exile Kovu, and they all returned to Pride Rock, including the former Outsider lionesses.
Ambitions: Kiara greatly desires her independence. Even more though, she wants to see her family stay together, including the newest members of the pride, formerly called the Outsiders.
Strengths & abilities: Kiara is intelligent. She sees others not for their appearance, but their heart. She doesn’t judge, and is more than willing to get to know people and assess them on her own terms, instead of taking someone else’s word on them.
Flaws: Kiara is stubborn and rebellious. She is very impatient, and around Timon and Pumbaa she is often short-tempered.
Likes: Kovu, her parents, being trusted, being independent, playing,
Dislikes: how overprotective her father is, being watched, Zira, fighting, crocodiles,
Fears: her father not seeing that she is mature, being incapable of being independent, losing Kovu
