Kiara stretched, rolling to her side. She yawned loudly and sat up, looking around. Kovu was gone, so were her parents… Where was she? It didn’t look like the Pride Lands, that was for sure. She was in some strange place, a rather narrow crevice between two large stone walls. But the stone was unlike anything she had ever seen before: red and rectangular. She crept toward the opening. Strange creatures walking on two legs, wearing the strangest kind of fur Kiara had ever seen, ambled past the mouth of the crevice. All-in-all, “strange” was the only word that came to Kiara’s mind.
Kiara kept her body close to the ground as she left the crevice. The strange creatures ignored her; Kiara knew better than to try attacking any of them, there were far too many. She tentatively stepped farther away from the crevice; in the process, the creatures moved around her, pushing her away from the crevice, into the middle of the herd.
As far as Kiara could tell, the herd was moving in two separate directions, for the most part, following a predetermined path made of stone. The stone felt strange under Kiara’s paws. She was accustomed to the dirt and grass of her savannah home. Kiara navigated her way through the crowd, slowly adjusting, but not letting her guard down. As she walked, her muscles relaxed ever so slightly, and eventually, she was holding her head high and walking proudly. The creatures continued to ignore her.
Kiara stopped suddenly when a familiar scent crossed her path. ”Daddy?” she whispered, before taking off after the scent. But when she reached the end, it wasn't her father, it was a cub. But... the cub smelled exactly like her father. He also had the same fur color, identical eyes... She skidded to a stop and stared at the cub. "Who... who are you?" she asked the cub.
