Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's Your Admin, and I wished upon a star from Whatever. My other imaginary friends include Basil and his sidekicks. WART and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Arthur Pendragon, aka Wart
Age: 12
Species: human
Birthplace: England
Movie: The Sword in the Stone
Custom title: Rightwise King Born of England
Why'd you pick this character? Well, now...I knew I wanted a child character. I thought Vanellope would fill the bill, and I've enjoyed using her. But she is, in some ways, an adult in a child's body. And her snarky name-calling sometimes crosses over into territory covered by my other characters. Plus I find her dialogue difficult to write. All of which put me in the market for a different youth to play.
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description: Wart possesses an unruly thatch of blond-ish hair, thick and mostly unkempt. Though his hair is not overly long, he is usually in need of a good haircut.
Facial description/mood/expressions: Wart will grow up to be a handsome man some day. He has a pleasant, though ordinary face, with earnest blue eyes and a sharp chin. Although a cheerful boy by nature, he is more often resigned than happy. Due to his lack of understanding of the ways of the world, Wart is often seen with a confused expression.
Clothing style: Wart wears the rough costume of a medieval peasant: doublet and hose with short boots. Or he did before becoming king. Now he is expected to wear the finest robes, jewelry, crown, the works. Whenever he can get away with it, Wart still dresses simply, though of a better quality than before.
Body build: Never overfed, Wart is positively scrawny, with stringy arms and legs, knobby knees, and not much else. He is used to working and carrying at the utmost limit of his strength.
Any unique traits (optional): Wart is at that age when his voice is beginning to change. Hence, it has a tendency to crack and squeak.
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
Wart is a very nice boy, someone you wouldn't mind knowing. He's helpful, polite, and kind, generally giving all but the worst villains the benefit of the doubt. It takes a lot to make him angry; he puts up with injustice toward himself, but will stand up for others if they are abused.
He is of average intelligence, possibly even smarter than that. But Wart has had no education at all until meeting Merlin, so the extent of his IQ remains to be seen.
Wart is at that awkward stage where his body is growing faster than he can master it, making him rather clumsy and prone to trip over his own feet. He also feels backward and shy, especially around girls his own age.
Possessed of an excellent imagination, Wart uses daydreams to make an unpleasant life more bearable. Even after becoming king, he'd still rather be a knight; better to face villains, dragons, and giants than to stumble through all the rules and rigmarole of being royalty. He would enjoy all the normal pastimes of an eleven-year-old boy if he was only allowed to. But it seems Wart has only traded one kind of servitude for another.
History:
Upon the death of King Uther Pendragon, England was without a king. Although many tried to advance their claims to the throne, no rightful heir could be found. The country degenerated into hundreds of fiefdoms, each ruled by its own lord. Some were good and kindly,
but many were churlish villains, preying upon the weak, warring with their neighbours.
One feudal lord was Sir Ector of the Forest Sauvage. One day, as he was out riding with his young son Kay, Ector came across a child lying alone in the woods. He took in the babe, ostensibly as a foster son, calling him Arthur, or Wart for short. As he grew, Wart's place in the household degenerated to that of an unpaid servant. He received little affection from anyone and was often reminded that, as a n orphan and foundling, he was lucky to have even that.
It was the only life the boy had ever known, so he accepted it without complaint as the way things were. Far worse for him was the bullying from his 'elder brother' Kay. Wart learned to stay out of his way whenever possible.
Sir Ector intended to give his young charge at least a rudimentary education, but there always seemed to be more work that needed to be done. So Wart grew up without even knowing how to write his own name. He dreamed of many things, but considered a future as a squire the only plausible one for him.
Everything changed when he met Merlin through what seemed to be the merest accident. The old gentleman announced that he was Wart's new tutor, and the boy just shrugged and accepted the new order of things. Which turned out to be much more interesting than he could've guessed. Merlin was a wizard, and his idea of education included changing his pupil into animals and birds. It was thrilling, even if, at the end of the day, life remained unchanged.
When Kay attended a tournament on New Year's Day, Wart got what seemed to him the chance of a lifetime: he became Kay's squire. Determined to give it his all, Wart was devastated when he realized he'd forgotten to bring a sword to the tourney. In his haste to procure a weapon, the boy pulled an old sword out of an anvil in a weed-choked little park. And was promptly proclaimed king of all England.
Whoa.
Everything changed in an instant for Wart. And before he could quite make heads or tails of his new life, he found himself whisked away to a strange new land...
Ambitions:
Wart is not ambitious by nature, although he did aspire to be a knight. Knowing it was impossible, he set his sights lower and would have been satisfied as a squire. But fate intervened. Now he desires to be a good king, though it seems like an impossible dream.
