Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's Neo, and I wished upon a star from here. Jake and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Jake Ryan
Age: 28
Species: Kangaroo Mouse
Birthplace: Outback, Australia
Movie: Rescuers Down Under
Custom title: Australian Rescuer
Why'd you pick this character? The Rescuers movies was one part of my childhood, alongside the likes of 101 Dalmations, Great Mouse Detective, and Lion King, and before Mulan was released. Recently, I have been watching clips from these old movies, and I enjoyed the premise of the Rescuers settings. Jake is a more adventurous mouse, and was one of my favorite characters from the movie. As such, playing as him, I want to expand more on the Rescuers lore, and bring in another small character into the roleplay.
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description: Being a kangaroo mouse, Jake has brown fur all over him. His head fur is a little bit unkempt, due to the adventures he took. He never really bothered to neaten his hair up, since it always got messed up.
Facial description/mood/expressions: Jake, being a mouse, has a short pink/brown nose. Below his nose, he has light brown fur that goes down to his chest and belly, contrasting his brown fur. He has dark brown eyes.
Expression wise, it varies. Most cases he is calm and bold, though he is often seen to be annoyed if someone doesn’t listen to him, surprised if something happens that he didn’t expect, or, in certain cases, dashing when he is trying to flirt with someone he has an interest in.
Clothing style: Being from Australia, Jake wears an appropriate attire. He has a grey cowboy hat to protect his head from the heat and other elements, and he wears a grey bush poplin safari jacket with a brown belt wrapped around the waist.
Body build: Since Jake is a kangaroo mouse, he has a slim build. As his species name suggests, he possesses kangaroo-like legs that allows him leap higher than a normal mouse could. The legs also means he can provide a good kick when needed, allowing him to produce a bit more strength to add some extra force to the kick itself.
Any unique traits (optional): Due to his time in the Outback, Jake is missing a bit of his right ear. He also possesses some scars due to his encounters, but they aren’t that visible due to his fur, or due to his shirt.
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
Tough, fearless, adventurous, and a classified survivalist, Jake himself learned how to carry himself due to his time in the outback. He doesn’t show fear to any obstacle that is in his way, and tends to be quick at coming up with a way around it. After all, the outback is a harsh place, and if one doesn’t adapt, then they are just another meal.
Due to this attitude, Jake, however, is known to be sarcastic at times, and isn’t afraid to speak his mind when he is talking about someone. He despises those who uses trickery and treacherous methods, such as those who poach wild animals. He also tends to be less open to the prospect that someone would man up and be just as brave as he is, such as Bernard, but he learned that he can be wrong.
Jake is still a good person at heart. He is willing to go out of the way to try to save someone, even if he will be put into danger as a result. He was willing to escort Bernard and Bianca through the outback, despite the fact that the two mice were ill-prepared to handle the environment, and he even congratulates Bernard when he saved the day, accepting that the american was a good fit for Bianca.
History:
Jake was born and raised by his mother and father, who lived nearby the small community of Mugwomp Flats. While his parents were content with him living a safe, sheltered life, due to how his kind was prey to other creatures in the country, Jake, instead, saw the world around him and thought about what he might encounter while out there. He had an adventurer’s spirit within him, and he was known to wander out from the shelter when he was little, much to his parent’s dismay.
As he grew up, Jake observed things and learned how to deal with living in the outback. At the age of 10, he taught himself how to use a boomerang in order to take down some pesky insects that kept bothering his family. At 13, he learned how to use a lasso in order to bring down a firefly, and to then fly it around the property to get a higher view of the place. And each time he learned, his desire to explore grew.
It wasn’t long though that disaster struck. When he was 16, a rattlesnake, whom was named Twister, struck the home. His father tried to protect the family, but lost his life doing so. Thinking back to his skills with the lasso, Jake acted quickly in order to save his mother. He was able to force the snake’s jaw shut with the rope, where he moved in to subdue and take down the snake.
He made up his mind by then. Yes, he was adventurous, but he wanted to protect others as well. There were many others living in the outback who didn’t have protection, after all. And if he could learn how to fend for himself and to beat back the hostile fauna, maybe he might make some difference.
After finding a secure home for his mother, Jake ventured out in order to build up his skills. For years, he traveled the Australian outback, learning how to beat down the largest of creatures, and earned a little bit of a name for himself while he was doing so. Other mice recognized his skills, and some admired his boldness. Jake learned the ins and outs of survival, and he adopted one rule that he honors for himself: Adapt or perish.
Years later, Jake returned to Mugwomp Flats. He had picked up new skills due to his travels, one of which was the ability to utilize communications equipment, due to him helping two mice living by a telephone pole. Though, after traveling, he figured there was nothing left to deal with. He had nothing to do, and no one to enjoy his adventures with, and soon, he decided on retiring from his adventures, and become a radio operator at the local runway in order to help others out. It was here he settled in for a while, alongside Sparky, a fly who lived at the tour building Jake operated at.
A few years later, Jake heard rumors. There were talks amongst the humans about a devious poacher by the name of McLeach, a man who illegally captured and sold animals off to the black market. The human authorities never caught the man, but when rumors arose about a child being kidnapped by the poacher, Jake figured something big is happening.
His suspicions were confirmed when an unannounced albatross flight popped up at Wugwomp Flats. Despite his urgings, the albatross came in for a landing, forcing Jake to act quickly so the bird wouldn’t hurt himself too much. This incident brought him to meet two mice from America: Bernard, a timid mouse who seemed like he didn’t want to be there, and Bianca, a adventurous mouse who was eager to save the boy, and whom Jake thought would be a perfect girl in his life who would restart his desire for adventure.
Jake helped the two mice in finding the boy, all while trying to show to Bianca how much he knows the outback and how bold and brave he was. This journey escalated when they found the young boy and the evil poacher, and followed them in order to stop McLeach from capturing a giant eagle that lived in the outback. They failed to prevent the eagle’s capture though, and Jake acted in order to try to save the boy, even though it resulted in him and Bianca being captured. Thankfully, Bernard gained his bravery and learned how to subdue a razorback boar, which allowed the mouse to stop McLeach from getting rid of the young boy, and lead to the death of the poacher.
The kangaroo mouse knew then and there that there was a reason why the two mice were together, and he backed away from Bianca so that Bernard can propose to her, something he wanted to do for a long time. The three made sure the boy made it back home, and picked up the albatross who was left behind to watch over the eagle’s eggs.
Jake thought that his life would go back to where it was before, but, due to how valuable his skills were in accomplishing the mission, Bianca and Bernard offered Jake a position at the Rescue Aid Society. Surprised, Jake humbly accepted the offer, figuring he could help his new friends more, and finally get out of retirement to do something he always wanted to do: experience new adventures, and help others.

“Come on, Sparky, it will be great,” Jake said to his smaller insectoid friend. He had just explained about joining the Rescue Aid Society, and about how he will be leaving Australia in order to aid others around the world. It was one of his main dreams, after all, “I get to head to U.S in order to help save people like that kid, and you get to have the entire place to yourself. I know how much you wanted me to stop playing checkers with you.”
The bug just rolled his eyes and made a buzzing sound in response. Jake, instantly could tell he was being sarcastic with him, which made the kangaroo mouse lower his brows and frown.
“What? No, I am not a sore loser. I swear, you keep using that bloody move each and every time I have you on the defense,” He folded his arms, “Taking all my pieces with your remaining piece. I don’t even think that is a legal move.”
Another buzz, another quip from the fly.
“Yes, well, you have to find someone to play with while I am gone. Being a radio operator here is fine and dandy, but I became who I am because I wanted get stronger, and to help others. Not by sitting at a table answering landing requests and playing with you,” He rolled his eyes, “If you don’t want me to leave, you should come along…”
Sparky let out another buzz, this time in a worried tone. This gave Jake a good chuckle, as he could tell the bug was giving an excuse as to why he should stay. “Alright, alright. I get it, someone needs to keep those birds from crashing. And it’s not that you aren’t as brave as I am,” He smiled, “You know I am going to miss you while I am gone.”
The fly buzzed again, and Jake soon patted the bug’s back in response, “Ya, I know you’ll miss me too. Despite all the games we played, and the quips we made at each other, it was a good run. But we both know this is for the best.” He then grinned, “And if another kid goes missing, let me know, alright? I’ll come back here in a second with Bernard and Bianca right behind me. Okay?”
Sparky buzzed some more, and Jake laughed, “I’ll keep myself safe. Besides, I’m just going to the United States. What could possibly go wrong?”
Oh, how he would eat those words later….
