Hey, howdy, hey! The name's MAGGIE, and I wished upon a star from ADS FOREVER AGO. My other imaginary friends include TRIPLETS & CO. YZMA and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Yzma
Age: 50. And we're sticking with that! How dare you ask anyway!
Species: Human (and what's the big idea insinuating otherwise!)
Birthplace: Peru
Movie: Emperor's New Groove
Custom title: Beauty and Brains of the Empire
Why'd you pick this character? In going back and forth in villain search she seemed to have the best range possible. Also the Late Great Eartha Kitt <3
Character appearance (try to get at least 2 or 3 sentences for each section)
Hair description: Though hidden behind a headdress most days, Yzma's hair is still black, and was once a more radiant shade and luster. Now a days, Yzma chooses to show off her flashy style with her headdress rather than her hair, though gray hairs are still ruthlessly plucked and covered!
Facial description/mood/expressions: There's no getting around it, wrinkled, and her face, and all of her skin, is so pale it gives off an unhealthy purple shade. Long lashes surrounding painted eyelids. Thin lips often curled in displeasure, or just plotting/anger.
Clothing style: As with everything, Yzma is trying to retain her beauty and dresses to impress and intimidate both, only pulling off one of those though. Choosing black and purple shades, she shows off a figure most don't really want shown off, but which she can't be brought to believe they wouldn't. Blue pendant or dangle earrings. Fancy heels complete her outfits along with elaborate headdresses. She also always keeps a hidden dagger on her.
Body build: Yzma has retained her youthful slim figure, just not her youth, so she comes off malnourished and sickly. Manicured nails on wrinkled hands just really show off and pinpoint her vanity.
Any unique traits (optional): She holds onto a surprisingly not awful singing voice.
Original character analysis (In your own words and please be thorough)
Personality:
Yzma is positive body image taken the wrong way. Delusional and convinced she is the most beautiful person in the kingdom, she reacts harshly to criticism (out-loud) of her looks or insinuations that she is not still beautiful!
Vain and Proud, she also takes as much pride in her mind as she does her looks. Just as she feels no one is more beautiful than her (not really), she also feels none are smarter than her ultimately. She also has a (thin) Charisma, with which she can manipulate others into getting her way, provided they aren't in the habit of thinking for themselves too often. Unfortunately her temper often flairs up past it to often for it to be to effective all the time.
Impulsive, Ruthless and Driven when not getting her way, or attempting to do such, Yzma has also been raised in the palace and knows (to an extent) how to play the power game and get what she wants. She just resorts, very quickly, to extreme measures when a bit of tact (or any small sliver of tact) doesn't work. She also always starts off her plans wasting minutes just to endlessly monologue (or preferably tell Kronk) about her brilliant plans which are always over complicated, before narrowing them down to workable, but showing off that she can think up both!
History:
Yzma’s father held a court position, not as high of a one as his daughter gained (partly for his and his wife’s pressure perhaps), but respected in his own right and enough to leave his wife with the expectation that Yzma should have a high position herself.
Young Yzma loved growing up within the palace, and quickly decided she belonged there and would never live anywhere else. Just in the ideas of a child, but firmly set nonetheless. Kuzco’s grandparents were kind royals to her, and though it didn’t seem like it, Yzma did pay them back with a sense of gratitude by caring for Kuzco later (as for the rest...well after raising him her debt was fulfilled...).
It was also during her childhood growing up in the palace that Yzma took in how servants worked, doing all the Emperor and Empress asked. Her own father included, sure, but Yzma was quick to put into practice what she learned, bossing around the few friends she made.
She first became used to the rotation she would use with henchmen here as well, as many friends would leave, fed up with her bossiness, only to be replaced.
Yzma grew in grace herself and was quite attractive as a teenager. In fact she could have married and had a family...had she not found a fault with every one of her suitors eventually! When her mother complained, she said she didn’t need them, she would be important all on her own!
Her chance seemed to come when the young Emperor and Empress died (not that she rejoiced in the fact, though she was a bit indifferent) leaving their young son, Kuzco, alone. As the current Adviser, Yzma took the boy’s upbringing upon herself, to much praise from those of the kingdom, though really she just did it for the praise and there were still servings to change dirty diapers.
Of course fostering him, Yzma couldn’t avoid the young boy completely and had to actually interact, and he was fine, as spoiled royals went, and Yzma thought she helped round him out a bit (when in truth she probably aided his ego)
Fostering the young Emperor made Yzma feel almost like an Empress herself! It was standard was it not? Young royals not yet of age were guided by the interim ruler. Of course that was not their kingdom’s set up, and of course she was just an Adviser.
As she was reminded when the boy grew and talked more and more with it! By Eighteen he was almost intolerable, but Yzma tolerated, and ruled behind his back, having come to love the feeling.
Then, one day, the young Emperor pulled the rug out from under her by firing her for no reason! Sure she’d been ruling in his stead, but she’d been doing that for months! Upset, she stormed off to rant to her current henchman, Kronk. And smash Kuzco’s bust statues! Until Kronk had a better idea! Planting the seed of getting rid of Kuzco himself! Gaining the position she’d wanted all along!
Yzma rushed herself and Kronk off to her lab to concoct the perfect way to do it! Settling on straight and simple poison (so postage for flea delivery didn’t kill her)
Of course Kronk (who had been doing so well! Giving her the idea in the first place) botched it up when she tried to put her plan into action that night at dinner! He grabbed her Extract of Llama instead of poison, turning the Emperor into a lama!
Yzma didn’t fully feel confident sending him out to “finish the job” on the now lama emperor, but had little choice, and settled to arranging for the news to be spread at the palace, feeling assured nothing would mess with her carefully crafted plan.
She should have felt less confident...
After they had finished repainting the palace a more pleasing purple, complete with her profile, Kronk admitted he hadn’t actually seen to it that Kuzco was dead! Unaware that even if the Emperor did return, he didn’t know she had explicitly tried to kill him, Yzma set out with Kronk to find him before he could ruin them.
Of course dealing with Kronk on that trip was exhausting. And the mud; and the squirrels; and run down shack surprise birthday songs!
The Emperor’s peasant rescuer “Paka’s” (or whatever his name was) crazy family was just a further headache!
Thankfully, after a lot of run around, illogical logic got Yzma and Kronk back to the palace ahead of Kuzco (who now did know Yzma’s intent) and Pacha. With the Emperor “not looking himself” though, Yzma was able to keep the palace guards on her side by saying the two had killed the Emperor. Until one baby was turned into a cow by the fighting with Yzma’s potions and went home.
Yzma herself was turned into a cat by the collateral damage of the rushing about her lab, though still swore to see Kuzco killed, until a trampoline and Kronk’s bad directions saw the Emperor gain the final upper-hand.
Yzma, still a cat, was stuck aiding Kronk and his stupid Squirrel Scouts until she found the perfect time to escape.
