”Well, yes, those things are art. But art is not limited to one vision, nor music to one song only." As a participant in fine art, Fflewddur felt it his duty and privilege to enlighten these animals.
…Was this also a riddle? “What are you talking about, old timer? How can you see a sunrise without vision? And I never said there was only one song: anybody who heard the racket those songbirds made back know that?” Ronno said with a smirk; hah, he knew so much more than this were-man. “The Great Prince also said that love was a song that never ends, whatever that means.”
"Instruments like this one also make music." To prove his point, the bard picked out a melody on his harp, one of his favorite pieces, with hardly a mistake.
Ronno ‘jumped the string’ as the string made noise. Tossing his head to hide his embarrassment “Big deal. Thumper uses hollow logs to make noise like that. And Thumper’s just a rabbit.”
”Just a moment," he answered the buck. "Accipiter did you a great service in freeing you, and all you've done is insult him. Not a word of thanks. Well, I say get your own leaves, sir, get your own leaves!”
“That’s not true!” said the buck, much offended. “If I wanted to insult him I would have mention that ugly mug of his or that ridiculous tail! Not like you, insulting a poor hungry deer who just wants some to try some of the delicious looking leaves.” Hmm, while he was also one to milk for pity, that did make him sound weak…
He raised his chin in defiance and said to the others, "I suggest we leave this one to his own devices. Perhaps you could show us the singing statues you spoke of, Accipiter?”
Managing to completely forgett that he, not a minute earlier, had attempted do just that — make these weirdos leave the tree to him— Ronno flattened his ears. “I’ll do what I want, were-man,” he snorted. “And you don’t tell what to do!”
“Accipiter!” Ronno snapped, not taking his eyes off the old man, “Old friend, I’d like to seeing these singing statue-things too.”
