Gaston Legume wasn't new to this land. He had been in this wilderness before while he was on his way to that party that Yzma had thrown for punch. It turned out not to be successful though, because no one else was down to punch except him! The bitterness he felt about not having his weapons around when he was around all those animals at that party and the unparty made him want to go to the wilderness to hunt, whether Lefou was there to join him or if he was still keeping an eye out for Belle.
Contrary to his loud, boisterous nature in the public eye, the French hunter was uncharacteristically quiet as he stalked his prey with his bow and arrow. He knew there were animals to hunt in here, he could tell just by the track marks he found. Usually when he had prey in mind, his obsessive nature would take over and Gaston would essentially have a one-track mind that would stop at nothing until the animal was dead! This was all much rather like the way he crept into the enchanted castle, ignoring all the fighting going on with the magical furniture and household objects, because his one-track mind was already set to kill that beast!
In this case, Gaston wasn't sure what sort of tracks were these. It appeared to have the trackings of a small bear; it was padded with 5 toes, but long claws than he had ever seen on a small bear at least. It also didn't seem like it was moving on four legs, which puzzled the hunter further. The only thing he knew was that it seemed to leave a messy trail and it started to stink enough for him to crinkle his nose. He wasn't going to let that smell deter him though. He had hunted warthogs before, though this was definitely no warthog. Well, that just meant that it would be a new animal's head on his wall of trophies! The enticing idea of having a new animal trophy to show off was all the incentive Gaston needed to hunt this animal!
The frenchman in red that wore his black cloak was armed with his bow and arrow ready as he snuck towards his prey quietly. That was, until the tracks suddenly stopped. Raising his raven eyebrows in confusion, his searching blue eyes glimpsed around in wonder of where it might've jumped to, choosing to hide behind the tree that he was next to in attempts to keep from being seen by the creature.
(Sorry that there's no dialogue, but hopefully it's enough for you to work with! Gaston was actually quiet while hunting the beast until he finally unleashed his arrow on him lol)
